  1. Thanks, @Netduma Fraser. I will give this a go come daylight. It seems like, the last couple of nights, despite only "playing" one match (was online "playing", but as a performance check) Saturday, and Sunday morning. I will say that something has definitely changed with how I am connecting, personally, so I am hoping this is a good sign. In the past, people who seemed to have issues like I'm describing, also complained about being placed in match mid-game, on the losing end of a blowout, and naturally, always on the losing team. Since AW, that is one thing that has not been a frequent issue for me. Since dealing with this issue, every single game had been an "in-progress" match, despite the fact I wouldn't leave the match early since A. It's a game, and B. The stats do not apply to your profile. However, the last two nights, I was back to the "waiting on more players", but it was under 10 seconds. My in-game ping, was showing 16ms. Which, is great, but it's not true. I've come to realize that when they (Activision) say "searching for ² under 16ms ping..." Then searching for match under 34ms ping...." It is their way of saying "searching for a match with attributes A", which are usually ideal, but if it's 16ms in game, it's always been just over 30ms for the PS5 when looking at the DumaOS auto-ping host, when using the geo-filter. Oh, the other weird thing is that despite rubber banding, ghost-bullets, death bullets, seeing other players doing the running man dance, where they stand still, even though their feet are moving; I have not received one single network icon while playing BO7's multiplayer. Yet, in my "killcams" (I know, they're a generality as to what happened, using 70(ish)% of data that the server has leading up to your death, and then kind of "stitches the rest together" based on most likely case scenarios. I hate people b**ng about killcams who think they are instant replays. End tangent), I do see where they are receiving red indicators that the network, on their end, is suffering from extreme packet loss AND packet burst, while also showing the latency symbol above packet loss. It only seems to happen against certain players who are absolutely dominating the lobby, to the tune of 53-2, with a sniper rifle. Makes me suspicious of how legitimate their gameplay is, and I know that players have found a way to cheat on console via remote-play, and a computer, and a capture card, I just don't know: Why? For the last couple of days, I have run the game with no regard to fine tuning connection, and while it is working better, better is still is a far cry from where I was before this mess started. I can not believe that I forgot to set the NAT to open in the router somehow. Just goes to show how preoccupied I had become with other parts of our overall Internet connection. And hell, I may realize that, while sleep deprived, I jumped into the settings and somehow messed something up. But, I'll let you know how it goes once the NAT is once again set to open, even though I'm getting open NATs literally Everytime I connect. Thanks for all the help so far. I know this has to have been a huge headache for you all to be so kind to me. I feel like the old dog trying to learn new tricks.
  2. @Netduma Fraserhere are the pics, arriving late to the party as usual. Not sure which order these will end up posting. But, there will be the LAN pic showing the subnet mask, even tho it is showing the router as my local IP address. The Internet Setup Picture shows that the subnet mask is 255.255.248.0
  3. I'm a dumbass. Sorry. I think amidst all of this, I saw the W, and assumed it was the screenshot I took of the wireless setup. I'm sorry for that. Let me grab the pictures again real quick, and make sure I upload the correct ones this time. I have, admittedly, grown so frustrated with this that I literally cannot see straight when I'm looking at small thumbnails on my phone. Back in one second, hopefully. Also, thank you for a better explanation as to how the congestion control works. I knew that giving my PS5 all of that bandwidth was a dumb idea, and did it anyhow. Sucks when I'm trying to learn things on the fly, bc the stuff that was relevant when I took networking does not seem to apply to anything that I'm doing now. But hey, at least I have all these fun cable stripping tools, and crimpers and old dialup modems laying around. One last thing before I post the correct pictures; I was going through every little setting on the DumaOS interface, and clicking on every single question mark that explained what everything is, and how it works, etc. I noticed that when I checked in on AdBlocker, it was enabled, so my AdBlocker should have been working. Yet, I noticed that my phone, and my mother's phone, were letting some queries through, which I understand. But, my phone was getting multiple tracking and "ads" bubbles. When I clicked on the list of what was being tracked or advertised, it was a running list, in real time, from "googletagmanager", "googleadmanager", and one other Google thing. So, I took my phone offline, rebooted the router (habit), plugged my PlayStation in and played one match. I don't know if this is a placebo effect, or if taking my phone offline really made that much of a difference, but my connection was steady, but bullet reg, and the sync seemed off with the server. I would shoot one bullet into someone, in core gamemodes, and it would kill them, but show that I landed 4 or 5 shots. For the record, crossplay was set to "on/console only". Could this really have made the difference it felt like it did?
  4. The subnet mask has always been 255.255.255.0, which is what the LAN setup shows, but the wireless, which I let the setup wizard handle (actually, the setup wizard did everything is 255.255.248.0. My speeds in LAN port 1 are terrible, when tested on PS5. When I test it on port 2, I get great results (will post picture). Port 3 seems to be broken, as it doesn't register anything at all, and port 4 seems to be very inconsistent. Ran the PS5 speed test with and without the game going, which, I forgot would log me out of the game, but I was going to hop out of that silly mess anyhow. One question regarding congestion control (and I'm going to fine tune it, starting at 70 and working my way around if the MFer ever decides to connect, without me skipping, teleporting, and rubberbanding all to hell), let's say I assign my PlayStation 90% of the download bandwidth, and 90% of the upload bandwidth, and turn congestion control on, set at 70 down and up. Will my PS5 be limited by that 70%? The guide just says something along the lines of limiting how much a bandwidth hogging device can use, but my overthinking (poorly) ass over here is wondering if I'm limiting myself. I'll just turn the Playstation on and upload the results. I thought my PS app had the screenshots on it. Shocker- it doesnt.
  5. Those pics are how I try to basically convert the wifi into a dedicated gaming line. Probably not the best technique. Edit to add: my wired connection from the router to PS5 is what is being affected only in game.
  6. I had disabled the cloud prioritization bc my Mom was playing something on her phone and for some reason, it seemed to be getting prioritized. I manually add my PS5 and should have a pic on here, as well as how the congestion control was set up.
  7. @Netduma FraserI'll be honest, I'm starting to second guess my router at this point. Of course, this is the first time I haven't gone in and manually assigned a static IP to my PS5, and port forwarded the required ports for Call of Duty Black Ops 7. I didn't think I still needed to. I did notice my nat type shows up with a checked box to make it strict, so I have to uncheck that. When I ran the congestion control setup, dl stayed at 100% and upload only went down to 93 or 98%. I don't know if I have the geo-filter pics or not up there, but I didn't even mess with the geo-filter after seeing my unstable connection, I would shoot one minute and be across the map the next. AdmiMy modem is getting a good signal now. I replaced the cat5e cables with cat7 patch cables. It's down to the following, at least as far as I can tell. 1. Bad LAN port on my PS5, despite network tests showing 515.2 down, 36.5 up. (Later, unexpectedly dropped 06.20mbps up. 2. My router is either broken, or setup improperly. A month now, and at least we have Wi-Fi. Subnet mask for LAN is correct but not wireless setup, even though the primary and secondary DNS servers are showing up correctly. Like I said. huge pain in the arse at this point. I only tried for 15 min before I got too pissed off and admitted defeat for the night.
  8. @Netduma FraserOn second hand, I can do this beforehand and will do this in one second.
  9. @Netduma FraserOn second hand, I can do this beforehand and will do this in one second.
  10. @Netduma FraserOn second hand, I can do this beforehand and will do this in one second.
  11. 8jh @Netduma FraserI can absolutely do that, but it will be after 4pm my time (Eastern Daylight Time) because we have an in-store meeting tomorrow at our local Xfinity office because we have dealt with this for three weeks. I have called them 5 times, each time getting reassured that they would send someone to check our node. Finally, after three weeks, I got a call saying a technician has found and repaired an issue on their end and to press 1 to confirm the fix worked , 2 to keep our appointment. We chose #2. I did run pingplotter straight from the modem, and I'll post those when I get inside. But. I have no problems going thru and showing you my step by step approach. Hell, I kind of welcomed someone asking me to do this.
  12. I do not see any servers that are blocked. Prior to the intermittent outages becoming full-time, I never experienced any of this type of odd in game behavior. Since switching modems, however, all but one device are showing up with an IPv6 address. Previously, it wasn't uncommon for my phone to show up twice, under the device manager section.
  13. So, it is currently Sunday, March 22, 2026. My current time is 01:44am. On my router, it shows as being Saturday, March 21, 2026 w/ a time of 21:40:08. The closest I can get, using the default netduma NTP server is Sat, Mar 21, 2026 at 21:04:40. What in the hell am I continuing to do incorrectly?
  14. @Netduma FraserI actually had changed the time zone (automatically detecting time zone changes, too), and it's showing the correct date and time, for right now anyhow. I know this isn't a video game centered forum (which is great for me bc I'm learning a lot of valuable information, most of which wasn't even taught), but I saved 4 matches (well, just the last 3 min of each match) in case viewing them would have been of any value to you guys. My player is bouncing around, everywhere. My GeoFilter, when turned on, is unable to find a match, which was never the case. There was always matches being hosted on their chicagoland server farm, and even their Georgia server farm. One thing I noticed last night, though, when I had auto-ping host turned on, it would show up as a "peer" server type, but the IP would be registered with Vultr, AWS, and their other server group I can't recall offhand. Right now, though, the internet, including wifi, is working, so the important stuff is still able to be done during the day. The bad part is that there is absolutely no chance of being able to play anything online. Hell, I'm a solo player so I don't care about partying up, but I can't imagine things being any better in a party. One thing at a time......
  15. @Netduma Fraser @DARKNESS Any idea what this is all about? Specifically, the date. I don't care about the syn/ack DoS from Comcast anymore.
  16. @DARKNESSThank you for reminding me to run pingplotter, and also, for the awesome breakdown on why Comcast operates as they do. I don't know, I just feel like sometimes they create an error to force a fix to bill you for, but that's probably just my twisted, jaded, irrational, and illogical logic at play. I'm to the point where I'm about to turn into a 9 year old, and just start kicking things that aren't working at this point. Oh, but I did find something else new that I have never seen on this router, ever. Check this out. Edit* tried to insert the pic but it placed it squarely in the middle of the page. So, I'll post it in another reply.
  17. @Netduma FraserHonestly, rereading that, it makes no sense at all, but I'll try to explain it better. Sorry about that, bc that is a dumb statement even by my standards. Here goes: I think I was trying to say that, after getting the network back up, to the point it was semi functional, I was still connected in the following way Modem---->Router (via patch cable, so, like normal)---->LAN Port #1-------->back to computer, via the patch cable I use for my PS5, for some reason---->saw network broadcasting on cell phone, and was able to connect, without the "Connected/no internet connection" status, so I used my cellphone to check the wifi throughput. After I took the LAN cable out of the router, and did a reboot of the network, everything was fine, though. I then used my ps5s network connection test, amd, using the same patch cable as I did to the computer, from the router, my "speeds" show as 501.1down, 34 7 up. So I tried to actually play my PS5, and the game was nothing but rubber banding players, being at point B on the map, suddenly back to point A. I didn't try it on wifi though. Any thoughts?
  18. BTW, I apologize for doing this this way, but it helps me create a log that is visible to all of you poor souls stuck trying to help me out. So, I'm going to use mobile data to post, and timestamp everything. @Netduma FraserIf I had performed the factory reset properly, wouldnt I have needed to update my firmware? At the very least, I would have expected a prompt to create a new password, instead of the wifi password that comes assigned to the device? So, where I am at, it is 9:20pm. I am getting ready to initiate a full, proper, factory reset now.
  19. @Netduma FraserSorry for always being here and then not. But yes, I did do a complete reset, and the jitter was 19ms I believe. Im going to post the pictures here because, quite honestly, I've got a lot going on, and would be dead in the water without all of your guys' help. I'm not kissing ass, I'm just letting you know I'm thankful. This first picture is the speed test run from Modem to computer, no router involvement whatsoever. On the bottom, is the picture of the speed test run from my cellphone, after being able to get online via Ethernet port, but not via WiFi. Damn it, I have more pictures that I can't find bc I didn't put them into folders on my phone, so it's just one big ass list of pics and I don't want to post the wrong thing.
  20. Edited to add: After registering the router a second time, bc it wasn't showing up under "My Products" or "Rental Products", I was able to get up and running, but I had to use a LAN port as I would for gaming, to establish a connection long enough to set the router up. I am pretty sure, given what you've told me, i believe I should go back in and do a proper factory reset, bc I only held the button in until the router turned from a solid white bar, to a solid orange bar, then power cycled everything again. I'm just now realizing I did change the network name, but I didn't change the PW, which, a proper factory reset would have forced me into doing. I may be wrong, but, can somebody confirm or dispute that for me? I do have internet right now, but gaming on it, hardwired, is horrible, like when ppl used lag switches on the xbox360 and ps3. I tried to play last night, just to test, and my goodness, it was terrible and frustrating and skipping all over the place. Absolutely everything is weird when it comes to Comcast, and how they handle/mishandle certain things. Hell, at one point, they still had my address listed incorrectly. But, it would appear that registering the modem was the #1 issue, but, I can tell now that something is waaaayyy off after getting back online. The #2 issue was noise interference, which they said they'd send a tech out to check on. If they have, it's not been noticed. After I registered the modem, and connected to my computer, with the router still unplugged and out of the equation, I decided to run a speed test. After downloading the app for Windows, and getting past all of the advertising on a single test, I was showing 860mbps down, then 890, and topped out around 912mbps down. Upstream stayed steady, with every test being either 40, or 41mbps up. There was a lot of jitter on the line though, during all of the testing. However, once I hooked the router up, and registered the router, my first test showed "speeds" so low, they wouldn't even register upstream. Downstream was reminiscent of the 28.8kbps days of dialup (only slightly exaggerated) at 30, then 31, and topping out at 40mbps down. However, I took the patch cable that I always use to hardwire into my PS5, ran a speed test on the ps5's network connection test, and was getting speeds of 496mbps down, but only 9up, then 14up, eventually, reaching 40mbps up, but that was only after reregestering the router, and each LAN port gave me different readings. Right now, I'm using port #2, and that is where I get the 490 * 40 readings. All other ports top out at 200-220 down and anywhere from 3 to 12 up. So, no clue what's going on at the moment. ***Using this as a place card to remember to come back and post pics. Luckily, I have some in my ps gallery from before this bs started.
  21. So, just a quick update. I am now online. I had to register my new modem with Comcast, and, for some reason, they required me to register my router with them, as well. Turns out, they still show my connection running through our old XR500. If I'm being completely honest, I can't say I know why this worked. The customer service agent has me give them my CF MAC address of the modem, but said nothing of the router. And, @Netduma FraserI didn't forget what you told me. I did not volunteer any information to her. She asked me, "oh, you are not using our equipment. You have your own?" And I simply told her "correct", so she f'd around some more, and told me a technician would be out today, and we would be in contact with them (today), and that's not happened, so, it's time for me to just go in to their physical location and try to keep calm. The problem is, the people you need to speak to, the people like All of you, are never there. I'm simply talking to a salesman, so, I really think we are going to change over to Metronet. But, after registering the router with Comcast, via their mobile app no less, I have had a connection, but it's not optimized yet. Also, I did all of the ipconfig crap, and it said successfully flushed DNS, successfully released then successfully renewed. But, logging into the router always takes me to the admin Create password Confirm password What is your oldest sisters name? What is your father's middle name? And that gets frustrating as hell. At one point, I renamed my network, the damn password I was going to use, and don't know how the hell that happened. I think I was just running on empty at the time.
  22. @DARKNESSThank you for the heads up regarding my rights as a consumer, but I think the most extreme I will go is to report them to the better business bureau. Everything about Comcast (from 0ur family perspective) has been one thing after another, and their magical fix is always, and I mean ALWAYS, try to offer up more bandwidth, for free, for 3 months. And right at 3 months, if you do not tell them, "I do not want this. I do not need this. This is a waste of my money", they will charge you, and lock you in for the price of that extra bandwidth. I have no clue why, but when I got on my Xfinity app (oddly, Comcasts app isn't supported anymore.. see dumb poopy on top of dumb poopy), I registered my modem, and that got me to the internet on one device. Now I am stuck in a GD endless loop of network admin sign on page after page. The few times I can even search for something, everything I click on is not trusted by netduma. Honestly, im proud of myself for maintaining an adult composure this far, but I feel the snap coming, fast. It gets ugly and I start using big words I don't know the meaning of, you know, typical douchebaggery type of stuff. I love that this community is so supportive. Ask the same question on Reddit, the first response is usually, "if you wanted netdumas OS, you should have just gotten a netduma. Sucks to be you", and I can't even say that they're wrong anymore. I'm just thankful for what I do have, while I have it. Which is why it bothers me that this bothers me so much.
  23. Well, here's where things currently stand as of 10 after midnight here in Indiana: I can connect directly to the internet on my laptop, from the modem. However, that is the only way I can connect. When I plug the router back in, and connect the modem to the router, the router is broadcasting a signal, but i cannot get online. I just keep getting the "failure to obtain IP address" issue. Comcast, was Comcast. Tried to upsell me on an XB8 wifi system as soon as she pulled diagnostics, so I had to be kind of a jerk and let her know that I was 100% not interested in using their equipment. The lady did try to tell me, "Mr John (not my first name), I see here that the problem on our end has been identified, and I have great news for you!" (By the way, I'm using quotes, even though I'm giving more of a paraphrased version of what she was telling me, so, sorry if that offends anyone) "Your modem has been more than 15 years now, and that's a long time for a modem. This is the reason you cannot receive all of the speeds from your internet." First, bulls**t. I told her my PS5 routinely connected at 501mbps down by 40mbps up. Just a very poor attempt on her end to insist on upselling me. When I plugged in our DOCSIS 3.1 compliant " Hitron CODA" (that's the real company name and router name. That was ordered by my dad, for whatever reason. It connected me, and I no longer receive the DNS error message on my laptop. Yet, when I run a cord to my router from the modem, I cannot connect to the internet, despite a factory reset. I'm getting frustrated. I'm thinking of just getting back into guitar at this point, lol.
