If you're in a dense urban area for example where there are lots of people it could happen regardless of the ISP you choose. Caused by an oversubscription of people in your area on the particular ISP. In times where everyone is online e.g. during peak hours where people have come home from school/work the connection would be worse, in non peak times it should be better. Your paid for speed may also fluctuate during those peak hours. That's a good indicator of whether you're being affected by this.
Do you see a change in latency in the game when playing? Are more people in your household using devices when this occurs?
You can use the features the router offers for the game but there isn't a specific setting that would apply to that game and no other, you won't get that on any router really.
