The Future of DumaOS: Version 3.0
Last year we released our first major update for DumaOS, Milestone 1.3. You guys loved it, so we quickly got to work on the next milestone, packing it full of features to make your router even more powerful.
This next milestone will instead be a new version, DumaOS 3.0, and it marks the biggest leap forward in our history. It will contain a huge amount of features never seen before on a router. Instead of just sending out each of the features piece by piece, we needed to wrap them all up into one giant release. We will explain why soon 😉 (but don't worry, we're not doing an EA!).
We know you guys will want to get your hands on 3.0 as soon as possible and we are working very hard to make this happen. But until we are sure, the release date is ‘to be confirmed’. But in the meantime, here is a teaser one of the many features coming to your router in 3.0: Data History.

With Data History you can see how much bandwidth you’ve used over time and drill-down to see which devices and/or applications are eating up all your data or find out how many hours you spent gaming over the weekend. If you are under a data cap, you can also see if you are nearing your monthly limit.
This is just a small glimpse into 3.0. We will be gradually revealing more features over the next few weeks so keep an eye out for more announcements.
One final thing, we launched DumaOS Insiders yesterday. This will be a private subforum where we share first-looks at features we are currently working on and using your feedback to shape them. There are only a few spaces left, so sign up here if you haven’t already: https://forum.netduma.com/topic/29480-sign-up-to-dumaos-insiders/
    Big things are coming.
    Thank you for your support.

That's the only way I will ever purchase another router from Netduma. It has to be Netduma only!!! And not a Netduma/Netgear router.

Well make sure you keep an eye on the forums over the next few months, and also make sure you're signed up to the newsletter, because IF we had any amazing new products to announce, and i'm not saying we do, but IF we were to announce an amazing new product that was so sexy you'd have to buy it instantly, we'd certainly make sure everybody knew about it via the newsletter.

The R1 is way overdue for replacement with newer tech and I would much prefer to get one from you than to buy one from netgear. I know we've talked about this before...but....PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Geofilter isn't the problem, the way Bungie tunnels connections (and hides 4 stacks by running them through their servers) around the world is the problem imo. If I have Geo on, get connected with less than the expected number of players for the match then move my radius to the entire world I often find that I am connected overseas to someone - this was not visible when flying in. I don't know if it starts showing due to a server handoff or what, but it has happened way too many times to be a glitch.

When did the latest season start? I haven't tested Destiny recently, maybe I should test it with the Geo-Filter again.

Okay thanks for that, I'll consult the team, perhaps it's working differently on the R1

Nice one! That setup is optimal for pretty much every game so we're thinking of making it more obvious / putting more emphasis on Ping Assist. I'm glad you're getting great connections with it, hope you're enjoying Gambit Prime if that's up your street

Yeah, I don't think they are "trying" to hide them, but that is effectively what happens and those teams always have a networking advantage it seems.
That said, this little trick about putting yourself in the ocean and setting ping assist to something reasonable has resulted in SUPERB connections so far in PVP - I can't remember the last time my connection was so good. I had previously tried ping assist with my actual location set and that resulted in some dubious connections, even the ones marked as ping assist on the map. I don't know if Bungie sees us differently for some reason or this is just a placebo effect - but I am loving it!

I too had to go back to the R1 firmware!...I wanted to like the OS so bad but its just too buggy for me. The R1 still runs smooth even on Blops4.

There are only three things I care about in DumaOS -

    1. Anti-spike.
    2. Anti-jitter.
    3. Selective ping-based filtering on the Geo-filter.

re: #3 - it's frequent that only one red-bar will affect a lobby. It's that specific guy I don't want to connect to and I want to get rid of him by clicking his circle's colour and adding to the block list. Acknowledged as a feature request and highly desirable, but never promised, so it's wish-list stuff.

There are two major issues I'm detecting with the R1 / Netgear split -

    1. NG isn't getting all of DumaOS due to NG cherry-picking features
    2. R1 isn't capable of running DumaOS in its current state

That's a bit of a problem as we get gimped software in both cases. The good thing is we have a date for DumaOS. The bad is we don't know what we're getting in it. I'm sure these things will be resolved in time.

I'm personally going to wait for awhile after DumaOS hits the R1 to see how things pan out. I know what I want in DumaOS and if it's not there, a downgrade path to 1.03.6i should be an option.

As much as I'd like the Netgear hardware upgrade, I don't need it and don't want it if DumaOS features are being stripped.

As an r1 user I am frustrated to know that the DumaOS is available TODAY on different hardware but that we have to wait until April.
That said from a business perspective I completely understand why you went this route, I really do. Congrats to you guys, you've earned it.

Sorry to hear about your eye mate and consequences you've suffered due to it.

I can clear up a few things. The delay for Nighthawk(NH) availability outside of the US is due to NETGEARs distribution system. It just takes longer to reach different centres and channels, I don't know the details but that is the main reason. Also we need to fully integrate language translation into NH which we're doing at the moment. I know UK speaks English obiviousy but NG distributes in terms of regions. So UK is part of EU. To distribute to EU you need language translation for many countries.

DumaOS is not delayed on the R1 by NG. They have no such control over what we do with our own hardware and when we do it. We are partners with NG, we do not work for them, cannot state that more clearly. R1 is delayed due to hardware challenges we're solving at the moment namely automatic turbo mode(fastpath) which is required by DumaOS (user doesn't have to fiddle with UI to get max speeds) and finally how configurations are partitioned (hopefully making DumaOS unbrickable).

Finally our hardware will have more features because we will create experimental features based on our roadmap and community feedback. Only when NG approves of a new feature will it go on their router. So likely the NG will slightly behind our hardware in terms of bleeding edge features. Which for the typical consumer is ideal as they don't want to test out stuff that may not be useful or is complicated. But if you're that way inclined then enjoy the experience with our hardware.

Hope that clears up everything for you(Big Dog) and anyone else reading this thread. Here's to a very tech productive 2018!
