  1. Seems to have settled, though had a major offline period last night when it just wouldn’t reconnect. It was after I had to power off the router to move some things around. When first connecting it seems to be allocating a ipv6 address (I think) in the public ip address. Which doesn’t work well, but then if patient it changes to a normal ip address and works just fine.
  2. Internet status seems to disconnect for a few seconds quite regular. Will monitor and advise. Can imagine the screams of annoyance from my 13 year old when playing FIFA if this doesn't settle down.
  3. Well I'll be damned. Connected! Used PPPoE connection instead of DHCP. Username "anything@skydsl" and password "anything". Not sure why it is working as everything you look at points to Sky using DHCP instead of PPPoE, but not going to moan. Finally!
  4. @duccio I’ve updated to v4.0.236 and I cannot connect to Sky Gigafast using DHCP. If you want the R3 to replace the isp router then I’d be hesitant to sign up for Sky Gigafast connection.
  5. Let me check before you order, I can try it this evening. Be advised, if you go with BT and have the 900mbps FTTP connection that's on PPPoE so you wouldn't achieve the full speed without putting your R3 in the DMZ of the BT hub.
  6. No, it wouldn't connect to Sky Gigafast. I've used the R3 in DMZ previously. I didn't find it added a great deal to my experience, indeed it caused me issues as I had to segregate my network to accommodate it. This meant some devices then lacked access to other network devices, such as the printer. It also performed worse speed wise than without, other functions were hit and miss. I'm pleased you're satisfied with the device, however it doesn't function correctly for high speed PPPoE connections (the primary connection type in the UK) and until recently had a bug which prevented support for the main domestic alternative in the UK which is DHCP option 61. It's still uncertain whether a DHCP option 61 connection is supported as I was unable to connect, but I'll give the benefit of doubt on that one. As it now stands I have the ONT, the ISP router, a 5-port switch, and 3x Deco XE75s for my home network. I don't wish to add another device into the network using a fudged approach when it should function instead of the ISP router.
  7. @BradGouldY Latest early access firmware 4.0.227 seems to have fixed the ability to save anything@skydsl|anything as the client identifier for DHCP. I'm still not able to connect to Sky gigafast however you might have some success. I'll be selling my R3, pointless for me to keep hopefully I can get at least half back.
  8. Any time line for this? Only I've not used the device in months and at this point - I may as well sell it.
  9. Still not fixed. Really poor. So, if you have a 1gb FTTP BT connection which is PPPOE you can’t get full speed. If you swap to Sky which is one of few non-PPPOE providers in UK for residential that offers 1gb FTTP, it is DHCP and you can’t input the client ID. Impressive. And no, putting it behind the ISP router in DMZ is not really a solution. It’s a botch. It’s nearly June, and basic functionality you’d expect from a £100 router is missing.
  10. No, it's not fixed. So for anyone in the UK that wants a 900mb FTTP connection your only option is to have the R3 in the DMZ of another router. The R3 doesn't support a 900mb PPPoE connection (BT, Plus.Net etc ...), and it won't let you connect to a DHCP Option 61 service (Sky) either ... <sigh>
  11. Apologies for resurrecting this thread - but has this bug been fixed? Only I can switch to Sky from BT (PPPoE) as out of contract.
  12. Bump - hoping for news on PPPoE connections.
  13. Any news on higher speed PPPoE connections being better supported? PPPoE is the most common connection in the UK. I think only Sky and Talk Talk don't use it. It's annoying to have spent so much on a router and have to keep using my old one.
  14. I'd second this. I'd have waited to purchase if I'd known.
  15. Is PPPOE sorted yet? I've a 900mb BT fibre to the home connection which I'm having to use my old router for with the R3 in the DMZ. If I use the R3 direct connected to the ONT modem I only get half the available speed, getting a bit irritated at having to run my old router as well as the R3.
  16. Sorted - thanks both
  17. Hi - currently on firmware 4.0.19, router is saying update available, but won't download 4.0.20 and the update fails every time. Any particular reason anyone can think of? Cheers
  18. Thanks ... any other steps I should take? Should I leave DHCP active on the R3? I guess if it's in the DMZ of the main router then it needs to set the IP addresses of the devices connected to it, and the main router doesn't have any 'impact' on those devices access to the wider Internet, all ports are open (that the R3 allows).
  19. Hi, hopefully someone might be able to advise on best setup. I've a BT fibre to home connection, which is PPPoE, with 900 down, and 100 up speeds. Current setup is the BT ONT modem to a TP-Link router (wifi off) providing DHCP and 3x TP-Link Deco XE75 acting as mesh wifi network access points. I've a PS5, PC, and a Xbox Series X hardwired to the main router, via a 5 port gigabit switch. My intention was to replace the existing main TP-Link router with the R3. However, I'm only getting 300 - 400ish of my 900 when I do that. Which as you'll appreciate isn't great. Is that likely to be something improved in near future via firmware? An alternative would be replace the ethernet switch with the R3, as the PS5, Xbox, and PC are really the only devices I'm interested in anyway via the R3. However, that's like to cause double NAT issues, isn't it? Open to any suggestions really? Thanks!
