  1. Cool, will it be here or ?
  2. Since I am only using the R2 for geo filtering i guess I won t have to upgrade but how does geo filter 2.0 differs in features and also technically if possible. Thanks!
  3. Can you please explain technically ? This is what this topic is about The fact that you think that CC slider needs to be adjusted by the game makes me believe this is only a guess of yours
  4. No, I want to leave the download CC slider at 100 so there is latency in download. only for the upload you don t want latency. also I m not sure that this works tho, I was just curious about the theoretical part, COD is not worth this much time.
  5. I was thinking when setting up my QOS. Since there is lag compensation in COD, I really feel like this could be a way to mess with the lag comp but I m not sure it actually works like this IRL but my theory is that: If you have let's say +50ms download latency and +0 upload latency like I do currently, assuming you are actually downloading smt in the background and actually have that download latency besides the speedtest, wouldn't this make you take advantage of lag comp by actually upload your kills to the server faster but downloading your deaths with latency hence they'd might be discarded by the lag comp if in the meantime some things happened I imagine if you kill some other players or that player dies and the server registers that, not that sure how it would work if it would. Does anyone has any thoughts on this ? And btw, this is not related to the DumaOS in any way, this can be vendor agnostic.
  6. Hey, can you please give me some WAN details, how do you use the router ? I have a 1gig fiber and could never get more than 490 down/up with QOS disabled/enabled.
  7. Hi, the geo filtering and QOS are enough for getting the best connection(nobody guarentees easier lobbies, just better connection to the servers). What I wrote anove were just tests and they failed aka didn t improved shit
  8. hey, as I have just retuned an XR and ordered an R2 I definitely recommend R2 and that's just based on the firmware support. The XR is very good hardware wise but lacks support from netgear. All the new features are coming to the R2 first and the guys are doing a great job with it.
  9. Yea, I blocked it myself just to see what happens. But the guy is French so it's normal. I would bet that if someone in USA blocks it it doesn't matter. So that's my exact point, why does it still see me in Europe when fully tunneled? Like any kind of connection it would initiate it should originate from Africa where my VPN gateway was. If you we're retaining some technical details, you can go full on, I'm working on palo altos. P.S at this point i don t give a crap about it, my HITREG got better when lowering the MTU a bit and disabling control flow(I can prove with bloat tests :)) -10ms each direction when fully loaded). But I am just trying to understand as much as I can how this shit game works.
  10. yea but i m pretty sure that if i m on another continent i should definitely go through another one no?
  11. It shouldn t look like that if i m tunneling all my traffic to a GW in south africa right?
  12. Yea but any connection it would make towards myself should indicate I'm in another country and use another relay, no ?
  13. Well, for what matters as a closure to this topic for the rest of you wanting to try that let me explain you technically why now at least it doesn't do anything: I have set up a WireGuard (same as OpenVPN) connection on my PC directly and used a VPN subscription which can generate config files. I have added the matchmaking server IP from Ireland 185.34.0.0/16(well this whole subnet) and I made it connect to Turkey and one more test to Myanmar. The IP gets routed to those countries but then I am still connected to Ireland. I figured it out and it was some telescope.battle.net or so hostname connected to a server in Bucharest (I'm from RO), so that was probably to geo locate me. I don't have my R2 so I just added it's IP to the windows firewall. Even with that disabled I was still connected to that Ireland server for matchmaking. Last resort was to redirect the telescope as well ad the initial 185 IP to the same region like Myanmar, which I did without a result. Just to confirm that the game has some kind of different way to locate me, I turned on the full VPN in my PC,no split tunnel, everything connected to Africa. So I was shwing in game in Africa, same as previously in Myanmar and Turkey but I was still connected to the Ireland matchmaking server. How is that possible? Not sure yet :))) Well that's my discovery, so F all of this, I will use geofilter and QoS and that s it I guess. P.S I was using NETLimiter software, it's amazing, you can see al your connections /process and it resolves the IP do hostname +region so you know real time what's going on with your connections in COD. P.S2 By using NETLimiter I could understand which traffic needs to go through QoS. The only connection that is made to the actual gameserver where playing the match happens was from source port 3047 UDP (only UDP!) -> 30k range or so. So the only rule in traffic prio you'll ever need is UDP only, source port 3074, dest port: 20k-65k (just to be sure, no other traffic will be sourced from 3074 anyway).
  14. Ugh, I see. So there is no option to upload a config file as I ve seen ppl split tunneling doing ?
  15. Hi, but regardless of COD or anything, can you support R2's VPN split tunnel config with some steps/advice if needed?
  16. Hi, I was just trying to figure out technically why using a VPN should get you easier lobbies. After a bit I found out that it's actually a split tunnel VPN that would work and I assume everybody in europe with a DumaOS sees that Ireland server connection. The theory is that connection it's used for SBMM and so and by split tunneling that traffic to a different country without actually sending your online multiplayer connection through the VPN, would make the game believe you re somewhere else aka in a region where players are not that good but it would still connect you to your closest servers for actual playing as those are different connections. Well that's at least what I understood so far. So now my questions would be, does anybody else knows anything different about this theory? And, if the split tunnel connection theory is true, how can we achieve that with the R2 ? P.S After one more hour of research I m now sure that if you split tunnel and pass only 185.34.0.0/16 through VPN to Africa let's say it would be do what those COD specific VPNs are doing and what everybody is so excited of. So how can we create this split tunnel in the R2, i know it will be used with OpenVPN but not sure how? @Netduma Fraser
  17. "The R2 does have its own firewall though so it is safe to use the DMZ." - yea I guess logic beat me here, indeed it should be just like having the R2 directly on WAN, yea. Aaighty, I guess that was it for the moment, will be back with opinions probably next week when I m finally playing with it, thanks a lot for support!
  18. Yea, I have +4ms when downloading 600megs and +8ms when uploading 800megs so this can barely never happen in a real life scenario so I'll play with it but I'm pretty sure I don t actually need it. Now being a security guy, having the R2 in the DMZ of tp link makes me anxious, but I have good endpoint security so I d be fine BUT, is it really neccesary ? COD and every app/game has ports posted so can't I just forward the needed ports in this case? It might be something that I'm missing but this is what I could come up with as the most secure until I can throw away the TP and use only the R2 PPPoe. Also, are all the security features working in WAN in R2 3.3.6? I mean like all those, syn flood protection, ping to be disabled etc..
  19. I see, right now I have an A connection on that bufferbloat test with this shitty tp link so I expect to be pretty easy to find the good results but I guess I should be going for A+ right ? Also, not sure if I got this right, do the congestion control sliders work with smartQoS or not ? I ve read some stuff in the first 10 pages of the firmware topic. ThankS!
  20. Yea, good example. I was trying to figure out if its worth the struggle cause I can see a lot of people with a lot of different settings :)) Do you have some kind of baseline + steps/framework on how and based on what(probably that A+ test) to fine tune ? P.S And maybe some general things to avoid like IPv6, but I'm not quite sure how PPPoE works now and if it's worth to keep a shitty TP link AX1500 and put R2 in the DMZ or just deal with some bandw loss and general best practices so far, that would be much appreciated. Probably this best practices could be useful for all the DumaOS newbies I guess would save some forum threads if well placed/maintained always for the most recent beta firmware.
  21. Hi, I'm trying to figure out if for a 1Gbps connection, only playing from the PC via lan cable with a phone connected wireless, do I really get any benefit of using QoS? I assume the router will just be able to send everything in time so there will be no queues or ?
  22. Just filled in the form, please add me too as my R2 arrives in 2 days. thanks!
  23. There's one more thing I forgot, after this setup: Clear/remove everything in geo fencing Setting up my PC as playstation in device mgr Creating the gro filtering profile on my fake playstation device, creating geo zones Seems to be filtering Now the question is, do I need to keep my PC as playstation or should I put it back as PC?
  24. Oh, just for a confirmation cause I just figured it out, the preselect profiles are also filtering by ports and not by application ?
  25. Hi, That's great. Is there any way to edit or move up and down the stack prio rules ? I'm working in PA firewalls and having so little control on the things it s so annoying sometimes :)) Thx!
