While this issue itself may not impact performance. I tend to disagree its just a visual. Because really no one can say for absolute certainty it is just a visual and doesn't impact performance in some manner. How do we know if the module that tells device manager what devices that are online and off doesn't also send information to other things like QoS. Also how can we also say for certainty that the miss labeled Ethernet ports are not conflicting with QoS tagging. Another thing when a device is online and yet device manager shows it offline how do we know if QoS is being tagged properly there.. We cant.. Not until these issues are address can we make any what so ever conclusions. Also upnp still has its own issues as well.. Upnp falls into a stale state and never updates after the first initial request. There after it also stays active even when the said device has been offline for days.. That also cant be said that it doesn't effect some sort of performance issue until fixed. Way to many variables here that are being left unchecked for far to long. There needs to be some accountability on these issues. No more waiting months on end.. This is just absolutely a shame..

after the recent update this issue still exist. when a device is offline and when trying to remove it, it states that it's still online. plus the Ethernet ports are still backwards. i understand that it doesn't affect performance but still for a expensive router when are these going to be addressed? not trying to be rude just confused.

For anyone updating to this firmware don't forget to back up your current configuration just incase you run into issues
you will find the back up config option under Settings - Administration - Backup Settings.

Although I still have to update my firmware looking at these patch notes im very disheartened
A lot of us where hoping for firmware milestone 1.4 or at least some major fixes for the issues we are all having
The last real firmware update was around December the 13th last year is this really what weve been waiting this long for??

Wait to the GPL code form Netgear has been released and more people are using it as well, then we will get to see what's been updated code wise hopefully. Netgear are not known for their comprehensive release notes.

That seems normal - when you are playing on the Xbox One X, you're using around 0.5mbps bandwidth, The download will use far more than that, so Bandwidth Allocation will take bandwidth from other devices and give it to your Xbox One while it's downloading.. The slow-down might not be noticeable, but it will be happening.
If you set a device to 80% and downloaded on it, for example, it would have access to that full 80% of your network. It would take that away from other devices on your network. However, if you set it to 80% and it only used 40% of that, the other unused 40% would be shared around your network.

The numbers in Traffic Prioritization work as follows:
Normal traffic is always climbing when you're on the network, high priority traffic only climbs when traffic (as specified in the left panel) is moving. This traffic will be processed before the normal traffic.
As for the sliders, I like to use the PingPlotter method.
Start pingplotter free, connect it to a nearby server like google or a local news station website Flood your connection with 4K videos and downloads and basically push it to it's limit Notice how the pingplotter results are now fluctuating wildly Enable anti-bufferbloat, and move the sliders down 10% at a time, each time checking if the pingplotter results are smoother Keep adjusting a little bit at a time until you find the highest percentage at which the results are stable That's if you want to be really specific about getting the exact right setting for your connection.

As above, I really wouldn't pay any attention to the logs as they're quite verbose and will rarely tell you any useful information, they're aimed for the developers to look at in case there is an issue.

Have been feeling this way as well, a little disappointed at the updates/fixes/releases for the XR500.
For such a pricey and Niche device I thought the priority would be a little better. Seems like NetDuma and NG have prioritized product pumping over current customers (XR700, XR300, XR450 all coming out since XR500's release with very few Firmware updates and even fewer additional features or fixes in the same time frame)
Not pointing fingers, certainly know this isn't your fault Fraser, just adding a +1 and sharing my agreement in the disappointment.

Sounds like you need more testing done on the new firmwares. Release them as betas and you could have thousands of beta testers, us! This will track down bugs faster. Openwrt has new builds daily. Let us help you make your product the best it can be!

    Thanks for the feedback guys
So you know, we are working on DumaOS Milestone 1.4 right now. We don’t give release dates but obviously we want all DumaOS users to get this as soon as possible.
NETGEAR also input changes to their side of the firmware (Settings, drivers etc). All of this takes time to test and make sure it’s stable, which is why updates tend to be large and every few months rather than small but frequent updates.

I totally agree here... Ive seen slow firmware updates before on other brand routers as well but not like this... This approach we have now here with the XR500 is not the right approach at all. When there are issues that can be addressed then they should send out firmware patches once they have them.. Not wait months on end..  Another thing that bothers me is on the Netgear forum I see Netduma posting there to help those with issues.. But I never see Netgear folks post here on Netduma forum.. Theres a disconnect there.. Heres the problem with this current relationship we have here.. If we are on here posting with issues and need further assistance or help we now have to go over there and totally start from scratch with them with issues we are having..  This is extremely important when it comes to a issue where one might need to have there router exchanged for a new one.. Posting here on Netduma doesn't count even though it should..  We shouldn't have to cross post on two forums to resolve issues.. That alone is very problematic.. And by the time one does that there warranty is likely over.. I can easily see this happening..   Moving forward I can only say this.. Anyone new buying a XR500, XR700, and the XR300 id pay close attention to your return policy.. If you get close to your return policy date and are having issues just return the router for a refund.. That will be the safest course of action for yourself.. Don't wait for firmware patches because by that time one could easily run past there warranty timeframe.. And then your stuck!!

We need more frequently updated firmware. Don't try and fix everything at once. Release what you have fixed. Then work on more fixes. Waiting 3 months plus is a long time to wait for simple fixes imo.

    Hi all
ive recently purchased an XR500 as I was getting some large lag spikes with my virgin broadband. I’ve been playing apex legends and rocket league a lot and was getting a ping of around 25 to the London server on apex (I’m UK based)
i was hoping that the XR500 would improve the ping however it has become slightly worse since installing! My friend who are part with gets a 13 ping and I was hoping I would get to sub 20.
whilsy I’ve set up QoS (70/70) and favoured my PS4 heavily on bandwidth allocation and also setting up the geo filter for 1200 I am still seeing lags. The lag is still unstable I was getting between 35-65 playing rocket league earlier but I don’t know what else I can do to improve. Does anybody have any suggestions? I’m thinking of returning the router as £250 is a lot of money for zero improvement.
i do play via Ethernet by the way
