Ping Assist will allow players or servers outside your radius as long as they're under your ping limit, simple as that!

Okay it worked thank you for your help! So if I want to use ping assist will this make others connect outside my radius? I really dont understand ping assist? Sorry!!😁😋

In that case shut down your console completely - don't put into rest mode but completely off. Remove the device from the Geo-Filter, flush the cloud (refresh the page if you get the taking too long message) then add your device back, wait 2 minutes and turn on the console and game, is ping assist still not performing correctly?
  6. Thanks

Yes you need filtering mode on to do any sort of filtering with the Geo-Filter. Spectating Mode just allows you to see the hosts and the pings

The advise above is great - this is definitely something on the hardware side going wrong. Either your power adapter is faulty or there's something going wrong with your router. By power outages, do you mean the router is literally losing power and needs to be booted up again?

Brownouts and small surges can damage power supplies sometimes, I was not saying that's what happened to you, I was just asking as a small surge or even a drop could corrupt firmware or damage hardware. Just trouble shooting questions I would ask anyone. I keep my router running off a pure sine wave APC 1000va smart UPS, along with the modem and iMac and associated gear that's connected as well, it does give peace of mind and added protection. It could well be as Jack says, your power adaptor is faulty but its hard to tell on a forum. Netgear will talk to you ask you to try some trouble shooting and arrange a RMA if needed I would imagine.

Not yet I’m afraid, but we’ll be getting onto it soon.

The next time that happens could you zoom out. It’s possible you connected to a mislocated server so you would have seen it in Germany for example

Clicking on a server to ping doesn't make you connect to it, all it does is ping. If you want a different server then you need to change your home location/radius to get on.

Basically, if you imagine you don't have your XR500 and you go to join a game, the game will connect you to any server it chooses. It will connect you based on its own rules and parameters, and you will have no control over where you are connected.

The XR500 gives you control, but you still need to allow the game to have some control. For instance, if you clicked your favourite server and just tried to force the game to connect you to it, that might not be possible. The server might be full, or it might not be available to you. The game would stop you from being that specific.

You can take control by setting a range - the Geo-Filter radius. This allows the game to connect you to a server, but the game is restricted - it can only connect you within the radius you have set. This allows you to get the best connections possible and secure a nice local host, whilst the game still has plenty of servers to choose from so isn't forced to disconnect you or boot you from the lobby.

You can force a single server (your favourite server) by making the radius really small and placing it on top of the server you want. That restricts the game to only that server, but since the game has no freedom any more you will get disconnected a lot when you try to connect. That's because if that single server is full or unavailable, you won't be able to connect.

That's why we recommend a radius of maybe 1000km around your location, which will give you really great hosts and a great experience too. I hope this helps with your understanding!
