Stimuli reacted to Netduma Jack in Patch 1.06 (148 megas)
Interesting stuff! Thanks for sharing this, hopefully someone can benefit from that set-up. We believe port forwarding improving gameplay is a placebo, but even if it is, it doesn't matter. If you're having a better time because of it, that's fantastic
Stimuli got a reaction from Netduma Jack in Patch 1.06 (148 megas)
I turned off upnp and used the ports recommended by activision and it made a great difference. Not sure if its placebo or if their servers are getting better, but I had great hit detection when connected to a dedicated server and the game felt super smooth. Laggy players are still encountered, but not as bad as before. My NAT was moderate so I just rebooted the netduma and console to get back to open.
Port forward, upnp off
Geofilter set to 1051 km, ping assist 30ms, strict mode on, and qos off.
Hopefully this can help others because it was a day and night difference for me
Stimuli reacted to Netduma Jack in Geo-filter Question
Thanks for this comprehensive post! Interesting stuff.
It's worth saying that I don't personally play WWII much, but there's a couple of things to note here. First of all, with Ping Assist on, you will either connect to games within your radius or you will connect to games outside the radius but with a value lower than your Ping Assist value. Since you connected to a server within your radius, your ping was higher than your Ping Assist value. If you want to purely rely on Ping Assist then try setting your home in the ocean with a tiny radius with Strict Mode off. With Ping Assist at 25ms you'd then connect to any game in the world with a ping of less than 25ms.
The Geo-Filter doesn't show players sometimes when you connect to a dedicated server - simply because it's difficult for routers to detect them. It's similar to having a second router connected to the Netduma with other devices connected to that router - Device Prioritisation won't be able to detect those other devices, all it will see is the other router.
I honestly am not sure why those particular servers show up as dormant hosts, though it looks like you can connect to them okay. Is it causing you any problems?
Stimuli reacted to XSXS in IPv6 and congestion control issues
The reason why MS recommends IPv6 for the best possible multiplayer experience is because it is supposed to fix any NAT issues, meaning every console on your network should have it's own unique IP. Meaning no moderate or strict NAT issues. So every console would have an open NAT and that means no party chat or connection issues with other consoles in the household. However it is still dependent on your ISP's network and how far a long they are in implementing it. I have IPV6 enabled with no ill effects so far in gaming.
