  1. It does also state that 'new features are to come on DumaOS, just need to get the R1 done first.' It's still coming I'm sure of that.
  2. I've just recently looked into 2 way PC Streaming and need some advice. So my main PC is used for gaming and I use a capture card to send the information to a Streaming PC which uploads the information. My query is in regards to the VPN Hybrid. The Streaming Guide https://staging.netduma.com/why/for-streamers/ on the Netduma Web Site shows how to set up a Gaming and Streaming from the same PC whilst using a VPN. All well and good, but for a two PC Setup it's a little different. I was thinking of setting up a VPN on the Streaming PC to protect against DDOS attacks, but it would leave the Gaming PC using its own IP. I am thinking that I may need to set a VPN on the Gaming PC to, but that may cause an issue for what I am trying to Game which is Quake Champions. In the past when I've added a VPN it's added about 10-20ms of lag to the ping. I'm trying to set up the VPN on the Streaming PC and see how that works out. But if anyone has any advice on this I would be grateful.
  3. Obviously there are a lot of disappointed people on this forum regarding the delay of DumaOS. I was disappointed to, but I understand and support the reasons why. I think we have to bear in mind that this update is very important. A roll back is required for good reasons. The main one giving people the opportunity to revert back to the older version, but also in case the new DumaOS has a problem. Let me explain, if DumaOS had been released and we downloaded it and there was a problem, it could have caused a lot of issues for everyone possibly bricking the R1s and leaving us with just our routers. It is frustrating for us, but I believe this is all for the best. We will get the update eventually and all the wonderful things to come with it. I am looking forward to it and checking back daily for the news as I am sure most of us are. Lets be positive rather than negative, these guys are working hard to get it out. We're going to get a great update that will make a massive difference to our gaming, it's got to be worth the wait.
  4. Not a problem, thought DumaOS would have that covered. I believe I have been ok so a few more weeks wait shouldn't cause too much trouble. I'll keep an keen eye though just in case.
  5. Hello This might be irrelevant with the (hopeful and eventual) release of DunaOS for the R1, but thought it might be worth checking into. When scanning the security of the Routers, the scanning software highlights a particularly vulnerability that says could be taken advantage of. It says that the device might be at risk of attacks and that I may need to flash the firmware to the latest version which at present it is (1.03.6h or till DumaOS). Looking into it further, the scanning software informs that there is a DNSMasq Heap Buffer Overflow vulnerability and recomends that I update to version 2.78 which was released in October last year. I don't know how much of an issue this may or may not be, but I thought I had better ask as I heave read that there is a newer firmware version, but isn't a requirement for everyone. I've seen mentions of LAN DHCP Scope Sets. It is certainly something I have not adjusted or really know what it does. But there is mention in the help that it is generally for static ips? I have adjusted settings for Port Forwarding and setting my DNS on my computer to a static address so I am unsure if this will or will not help. Any thoughts?
  6. Thanks, what setting should i use for Hyper Traffic? Quake 3? I've managed to do an advanced one using the port forwarding numbers given to Quake Champions. Currently set to 8181 or 39389. Trouble is it should be outgoing, ingoing or both? I've set it to Both.
  7. Firstly apologies if this is in the wrong section of the forum. I wasn't sure where best to place this due to the nature of the topic. Anyway, Quake Champions. A game I am really trying my hardest to get better at, suffice to say it has and is a slow painful progress. I'm sure those who are playing the game are also aware of the numerous lagging and other such type issues in the EA. I understand these are being worked on by the development team at iD and Bethesda and they are doing all they can, so happy there. I am using the Netduma R1 with my own TP Link Router and it seems to be ok, bar a few hiccups with the net (line quality dropped the other day, but that is with the ISP not here). The Ping Assist set up APPEARS to be ignored by Quake Champions so setting 30ms makes no difference. I am wondering if that could be related to the Client Side Registration, again I don't know and probably not something that can be answered here. I am sure we are all eagerly awaiting the DumaOS update and our fingers are crossed that this week we will hopefully see it. I am just wondering if anyone has been using the XR500 with DumaOS and how the results have been with Quake Champions? I am curious if they have any specific settings they could recommend for the Netduma R1 crew when they finally download it? I've followed the recommended settings as shown in the tutorials and tech guys on here to ensure good pings, adequate QoS and even looked at getting a VPN in case of any DDOS attacks. But is there anything that needs to be set on the Netduma R1 that you feel would help improve things further. It's probably a big ask and there is always a lot of tinkering needed with Quake Champions on our to get everything to a playable level. This might be a bit late, but is there anything in the current version we can set to help? I look forward to your responses.
  8. I'llgivethatagoandse I'll give that a go and see how things work out. I changed the wifi channel as well to 7, was previously on 8 to see if that works. I didn't have the wifi workaround checked in the settings. Should I set it to checked or leave it as off as before?
  9. Hello. I've had a similar problem with Wifi issues on the R1 quite recently. About a fortnight ago, the Wifi signal started to occasionally drop connection then reconnect in the space of a few seconds. I didn't think too much about it so carried on. This week, in fact a couple of days ago, the connection dropped completely and wouldn't reconnect at all, no matter how hard I tried it to get my devices to recognise it. Oddly enough the wired connections were fine and were operating normally so thought the R1 might just need powering on and off, which I did. That seemed to cure it. However, it lost Wifi connections again yesterday evening so I performed a Factory Reset on the R1 to get it a fresh start. I also turned off my other router Netgear N500 which it is connected to. After a little but of frustration in setting things back up (my wireless printer is a bit of a pain as it loses all settings and is temperamental at the best of times) all seemed ok and it has been working - shall we say OK. This morning, my nexus tablet lost connection temporarily to the Wifi signal then reconnected. This indicates there might still be a possible issue with the Wifi signal. Generally Wifi isn't important to me, but someone else does use Wifi for catching up on programs which could cause a problem for me as I primarily use my PC for gaming - Quake Champions. I believe I have had the router for just under a year, but I will check into that. At present I am considering the best course of action should the worst happen. This is what I have thought about should it happen again:- Checking to see if I am still under guarantee and if so requesting a new R1 If out of guarantee, purchasing a new R1 or going with the new Nighthawk Pro Gaming XR500 instead with DumaOS Waiting for the DumaOS to release next month (hopefully) and perform a firmware update and/or Looking at a Wifi extender option as well. The router uses the last (and latest I believe) firmware version of 1.03.6h. NB. Somethings to mention, but may or may not be relevant. My virus scanner flagged the R1 as risky due to an issue that hackers may be able to compromise. It has recommended a firmware update or a strong password. I have done my best to password it as I know DumaOS is coming soon and believe it is a new firmware patch. I have found when playing Quake Champions that there are some particularly odd issues, such as data dumps or ping issues, but that might be through the company servers for the game rather than the router. But someone did mention a lot of activity happens on the client side. Probably clutching at straws and I don't have any real concrete evidence to prove that. Just a thought any way.
  10. Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately it hasn't worked. Still trickling along at a slow pace. Its's taken about 10 minutes to do 2mb. Something definitely weird going on, waiting for the word back from Bethesda to see if they know. When I check Network Monitor, it shows a max of 50% activity about 185mbit towards the PC downloading and minimal usage from other devices Ah found the solution, I think. If the files are validated through the Bethesda Launcher, the download is much quicker. Around 3mb per second.
  11. Has anyone had a problem with updating Quake Champions using Steam or Bethesda Launcher? I'm not sure why, but every time I do an update, my net seems to go super slow and the download seems to drag on forever. Sometimes it just hangs and doesn't go anywhere at all so I have to cancel and reset the PC. I have to wait ages to try and access simple pages like Facebook or Twitter which usually load up straight away. I have the Congestion Settings to 100% for up and downloads. My net speed is 50mb down, 2mb up. I don't have this problem anywhere else, I can stream on WIFI to one device and still access the net fine on others. I cannot find anything on Bethesda Forums so I'm wondering if it is something I have not on my side. Any advice or thoughts?
  12. Rocket Jump Ninja also has a stream on twitch. Usually in the afternoon in the UK because of the Aussie time difference. But definitely worth a view.
  13. It's still the same. Just wondering if having a power cable next to the ADSL is a bad idea?
  14. Hi sorry it took me a while to get back. So far things have been ok, netduma hasn't reset itself and the connections seem alright. I've left it for the moment, but will certainly retry the above settings again should i need to. Thank you for your help.
  15. I need some advice on a set up I am planning for the Netduma R1 for Fibre Broadband. Currently I have it set as recommended by the manual in that the phone line connects through to my router and in turn connects into the Netduma. The phone connection is outside the room I am in so I have had to make a hole in the wall and push a 2m ADSL cable through with a power cable for the phone into the computer room to the router. I've drawn a crude diagram to give you an idea (see Netduma1.jpg). My concern is that the power cable might be disrupting the data flow to the router via the ADSL cable and thereby upsetting the data flow to the Netduma R1. By than I mean noise might be on the line which could be reducing or degrading the signal quality giving possibly lower speeds or causing additional pings, jitter and such like. I've had an idea to move the router next to the phone using a 1m ADSL cable so a shorter distance for a cleaner signal then using a Cat5 (or Cat6 can't remember but I know it is supposed to be a good one for a decent connection) cable through the wall to connect to the Netduma R1 (see netduma2.jpg). I'm hoping this set up will ensure a better connection and less disruption for the Netduma R1 router. I've tried to find information on what problems could arise running a power cable next to an ADSL could cause. In the good old days of Dial Up Modems I found a 56k modem was reduced to a 28.8K speed because a power cable next to the modem cable disrupted the line. Making sure it was clear brought the speed back up or at least appeared to. My current broadband connection speed is 40mb download, 1.99mb upload, give or take depending on the day and amount of people in the county using the net. I have done internet connection tests which give reasonable connections at different times, but I do failures on testing for ping (error denotes possible firewall issues in the routers). I have done a pathping test and it seems pretty reasonable C:\Users\danie>pathping -4 www.google.com Tracing route to www.google.com [172.217.20.68] over a maximum of 30 hops: 0 DESKTOP-6HMKI9I.lan [bLOCKED] 1 R1.lan [bLOCKED] 2 192.168.BLOCKED 3 * * * Computing statistics for 50 seconds... Source to Here This Node/Link Hop RTT Lost/Sent = Pct Lost/Sent = Pct Address 0 DESKTOP-6HMKI9I.lan [bLOCKED] 0/ 100 = 0% | 1 1ms 0/ 100 = 0% 0/ 100 = 0% R1.lan [192.168.BLOCKED] 0/ 100 = 0% | 2 2ms 0/ 100 = 0% 0/ 100 = 0% 192.168.BLOCKED Trace complete. (NB> BLOCKED hides the ip address I have performed an Ookla test in the past which showed the line I have as being a B+ for gaming. Basically saying it will work, but not at optimal levels. Ideally I would need something a lot better, hopefully an A rating. I would appreciate any advice on this.
