Apowell
After having the router all week and posting a few times and following all the suggestions it still hasn't improved at all. I played with friends last night and was t hosting and had better games then when I am hosting. Even the guys playing with me in my party when I was host said they had bad lag/hit detection. I talked to Twitter support and was told to start a new thread. I would like to arrange a return.
Guest Netduma_Iain
Which feature is not functioning as advertised? I can help you set it up.
Apowell
It's not reducing lag for me. I live close to dedicated servers and that's all I get hosted from. I have moved my location also, as you suggested, and didn't see any difference. I understand the gameplay on dedicated servers is out of your control and it is not the R1 that doesn't work, but it isn't helping either. I don't think there is anything left to adjust. My connection is not the issue either. I get about 45 down and 6 up with 22 ms ping. I am willing to work through some things but I also don't want to keep it if it doesn't help me. Guest Netduma_Iain
Ok great, there are quite a few things we can do to help. First I would suggestion you click "strict mode" so its ticked. Secondly where it says disable. Can you click it, wait till it says "enable". Then click enable. Then click "enable" and wait till it says "disable". Once you've done that watch the map when you play, the red circles should only appear inside your Geo-Filter. Is that correct? Also where do you live? Apowell
yeah thats correct. the other ones show a lock symbol. My issue isnt with connecting to hosts/dedicated servers outside my range, its that the only games i seem to be connecting to are dedicated servers, which are close to my location (Orlando, FL - U.S.) and the gameplay/connections are lagging terribly. As i mentioned above, i hosted last night with 4 others and everyone was complaining about the lag, then i let someone else host and it seemed to fix the issue because we werent on a dedicated server any more. That ping graph is from one of dedicated servers close to me. it is steady with no spikes, but not as low as i would like. i know thats out of everyones control. I have my home location set to exactly where i am, as i tried moving it around and it didnt seem to help things.
Guest Netduma_Iain
Your ping is quite high but that is because your last mile is already quite high. Just to leave your home will take 30ms. Dedicated servers is do with the game not us. We simply filter by distance and do congestion control for minimising ping as specified on our buyers guide. Can you show a screenshot of a game with your Geo-filter on and the ping graph associated with it. Based on the above the best ping you could possible get is approximately 30ms but I would assume it would be higher.
Apowell
the pic i posted the link for is from an in-game graph, where i was on a dedi. i can do another if you want.

Guest Netduma_Iain
Whats the difference between the two pings? Are you playing on a host in the same location?
Apowell
no, i selected each one of the servers just to give you an idea. if you look at the distance they are all different. i basically never get a P2P host, its almost exclusively a dedi server within 600-700 km from me (Atlanta, georgia, U.S). so each one of those pings is a different dedi server that i selected just to give you an idea of the average pings i am showing on the server that i am usually connected with. If that makes sense?
Guest Netduma_Iain
I'm just trying to address the ping. The one at 600km mark is about 30ms and as you can see your last mile is about 30ms. Meaning that one is about as optimum as your connection can handle.
Apowell
So not really anything else I can do from this point?
Guest Netduma_Iain
Its hard to say as the pictures keep changing. But if you're filtering by distance and congestion control is stopping others impacting your ping then the lag related features are working as advertised. In terms of are you optimum? Well in the 30ms you certainly are as shown by your last mile status. Hope that makes sense, if not let me know.
Harissa
On the same note of interest, i tried my Net duma all weekend and found no difference in game play on AW at all...set the geo filter on the Europe Uk zone 50 ms and no real change in game play, i only noticed that i stay on solid 4 bars, which is excellent but hit detection is hardly noticeable at all....i then played Destiny and found it the same always on green connection (good) to game but no change to the point almost thought this feels a bit laggy as I'm running with a lead back pack on I also experienced packet loss? So i then removed the Net duma and went back to the superhub2ac and started playing to honestly find my game play is the same still going positive in Aw I'm1.17 kd player not great but good enough for me, but the difference is not really noticeable at all....And Destiny pvp felt like i was on lightweight, I'm not sure either but im now back on Virgin and will be looking for a return, shame as i felt quite sad really...but thought id post a honest review on my behalf Superoo
Guest Netduma_Iain
The router is not designed to improve your K/D its designed to lower ping which makes game play smoother. Simple logic illustrates this. If you have 90ms+ host to US(minimum from UK) vs 10ms host to UK(minimum to UK). Then literally nothing can happen when you perform an action until at least 45ms (90/2) for the US game as the information hasn't even reached there yet. That is why ping is so important. As mentioned in the other thread harrissa if you want lag help post the information requested here: http://wiki.netduma.com/doku.php?id=lag_support_instructions. You may have your router set-up incorrectly, by your own admission you're not technical. I'm here to help
Harissa
Im giving you info of what we found we had latency over 300 and of 100% packet loss. anyway that aside are we ok to return as personally made no difference and it was eventually set up perfectly per your instructions. It was never mentioned google chrome? Thanks to a helpful member who informed me.. superoo
Guest Netduma_Iain
If you have latency of 300 and 100% packet loss then you either have: Setup incorrectly Internet line that is broken We can assist you if its setup incorrectly and if not we can provide evidence that your line is faulty.
