Update: The router is now crashing multiple times a day so I had to switch back to an older router just so I can use the internet.

Update: It crashed again when I tried to make some setting changes: -Disable WAN IPv6. -Change lease time to 10000 from 900. I got a new set of errors: Tue Jul 15 21:41:55 2025 daemon.info dnsmasq[2426]: Failed to look up com.netdumasoftware.hybridvpn object Tue Jul 15 21:41:56 2025 daemon.notice netifd: Interface 'lan' is enabled Tue Jul 15 21:41:56 2025 daemon.notice netifd: Interface 'lan' is setting up now Tue Jul 15 21:41:56 2025 daemon.info dnsmasq[2426]: Failed to look up com.netdumasoftware.hybridvpn object Tue Jul 15 21:41:56 2025 daemon.info dnsmasq[2426]: Failed to look up com.netdumasoftware.hybridvpn object Tue Jul 15 21:41:56 2025 daemon.info dnsmasq[2426]: Failed to look up com.netdumasoftware.hybridvpn object Tue Jul 15 21:41:56 2025 daemon.notice netifd: Interface 'lan' is now up Tue Jul 15 21:41:56 2025 daemon.info dnsmasq[2426]: Failed to look up com.netdumasoftware.hybridvpn object Tue Jul 15 21:41:58 2025 user.notice firewall: Reloading firewall due to ifup of lan (br-lan) Tue Jul 15 21:41:59 2025 daemon.err spawn-fcgi[3091]: spawn-fcgi: socket is already in use, can't spawn Tue Jul 15 21:41:59 2025 daemon.info dnsmasq[2426]: Failed to look up com.netdumasoftware.hybridvpn object Tue Jul 15 21:41:59 2025 daemon.info dnsmasq[2426]: Failed to look up com.netdumasoftware.hybridvpn object Tue Jul 15 21:41:59 2025 daemon.notice netifd: Interface 'loopback' is enabled Tue Jul 15 21:41:59 2025 daemon.info dnsmasq[2426]: Failed to look up com.netdumasoftware.hybridvpn object Tue Jul 15 21:41:59 2025 daemon.notice netifd: Interface 'loopback' is setting up now Tue Jul 15 21:41:59 2025 daemon.info dnsmasq[2426]: Failed to look up com.netdumasoftware.hybridvpn object Tue Jul 15 21:41:59 2025 daemon.info dnsmasq[2426]: Failed to look up com.netdumasoftware.hybridvpn object Tue Jul 15 21:41:59 2025 daemon.notice netifd: Interface 'loopback' is now up Tue Jul 15 21:41:59 2025 daemon.info dnsmasq[2426]: Failed to look up com.netdumasoftware.hybridvpn object Tue Jul 15 21:41:59 2025 daemon.notice netifd: Interface 'wan' is enabled Tue Jul 15 21:41:59 2025 daemon.notice netifd: Network device 'lo' link is up Tue Jul 15 21:41:59 2025 daemon.notice netifd: Interface 'loopback' has link connectivity Tue Jul 15 21:41:59 2025 daemon.err odhcpd[2623]: Invalid dhcpv6 mode configured for interface 'lan' Tue Jul 15 21:42:00 2025 user.notice mac8011: mac80211_setup phy1 Tue Jul 15 21:42:00 2025 user.notice mac8011: mac80211_setup phy0 Review: I have checked and both WAN and LAN has IPv6 disabled so not sure why it's saying the configuration mode is invalid. Hello Support/Frasier, I got my new replacement router (thank you) and set every device to a static IP to avoid the 5ghz drop/reconnect problem. It worked fine for a few weeks, but now the router is crashing randomly on the latest firmware. Happened three times today, and many times last week. I'm dropping calls during my work hours and this is impacting my job. Weird Behavior: I notice that the internet is very slow on 5ghz like 40mbps up/down when I have gig fiber internet. When I connect to 2.4ghz I get about 150mbps up/down which is expected. When the 5ghz internet starts to get slow I know a crash is about to happen, this is the tell for this router. I notice it most when I'm downloading a game on Xbox Network I expect to see 200-300mbps but when it's under 100mbps I know something is about to happen. Typically when I notice the internet speed drop to slow levels, a crash will happen within 30 minutes, and the router needs to be restarted a few times to get back to normal levels. Error found in logs: Tue Jul 15 21:07:03 2025 daemon.info procd: Instance cgi-runner::instance1 s in a crash loop 6 crashes, 0 seconds since last crash Ask: Can you please check the logs attached and let me know how I can avoid this in the future. I notice when the router crashes the adblocker won't load, so I have disabled it. I really need this router to work, this is probably the most troublesome router I've ever owned. It's starting to impact my work as I get dropped from calls in Teams multiple times a day. We need to get this figured out please. -Eric R3_2025-07-16T01_09_16.123Z_logs.txt

Just to confirm once the 5ghz goes down I cannot reconnect to it, if I attempt I get an error saying "Can't connect to this network" on Windows, on the logs I see: daemon.err odhcp6c[4074]: Failed to send SOLICIT message to ff02::1:2 (Cannot assign requested address) So the router is unable to assign an address to any of my devices. @Netduma Fraser Also I don't want to factory reset my device, if that is the next steps, I already done it about 3-4 times and didn't fix the problem. It takes me about an hour to name each device and setup internet rules each time since there is no export/import way to save these settings. My XR500 never had these kinds of problems. I have remote access setup, can you get one of your developers to take a look at the problem? I can reproduce the problem on demand, I just need to download an Xbox game. Edit: Width changes don't matter I don't think this is a bandwidth issue but more when traffic spikes a crashes that band. It's current sitting, elevated on a wooden shelf with nothing above or below it, no metal touching. No electrical wires outside the power cable and cat cable. I set the antenna at that shape, but didn't make a difference. To me this seems like an OS issue or perhaps a hardware issue where the 5ghz chip is wonky.

Hey Fraser! Firmware: I'm using firmware v4.0.540 which should be latest. Congestion Control: During router setup it found 885 down and 345 up as my speeds. Right now the settings are 100% on both download and upload and Congestion Control Mode is set to Auto (recommended). Maybe it's because I have both set to 100%? What should I change them to? Edit: Just to add, I was the only on on the network so it wasn't like I was fighting for bandwidth. The only traffic was my download I saw Xbox Download category shoot up to about 350-400 MBPS and then it stopped working. Edit #2: I changed the congestion to 70% on both upload and download and kept it as Auto Mode. I just tried to download a game again on my PC, and the 5ghz crapped out again after a few minutes, I'm the only one on the network. What is weird is this only impacts 5ghz and not 2.4ghz I can switch to 2.4ghz and the internet works. When I am finally able to connect back to 5ghz I can only download at 45 MBPS but after a reboot goes back up to expected results. Maybe this is a hardware issue? Attached new logs. Hello, I've been having issues with the 5Ghz band on my R3. I was not able to track down the root cause but I think I have it figure out. Problem: When I initiate a large download, such as downloading Avowed from the Xbox app on Windows, the 5ghz band will drop internet and all devices on this band will lose connection. I do not have SmartBoost enabled at all, as I thought this was the cause but it didn't matter. Mitigation: I can switch to 2.4ghz band and it works with no issues. I will be unable to join the 5ghz band unless: 1.) I reboot the router. 2.) Wait about 30 minutes until it allows me to connect. 3.) If I go into the Duma App of Duma OS dashboard and remove the offline device that is trying to connect, it will connect after I remove it. Assumed Root Cause: I'm not sure the root cause maybe it's the download spike a high internet usage but my XR500 has zero issues with this. When I check the logs I see this entry at the time it drops: Tue Feb 18 09:22:01 2025 daemon.info hostapd: wl1: STA c2:67:fc:37:8b:7c IEEE 802.11: deauthenticated due to local deauth request Then when I try to connect I see the logs show this error: Tue Feb 18 09:22:36 2025 daemon.err odhcp6c[16328]: Failed to send SOLICIT message to ff02::1:2 (Cannot assign requested address) Summary: It appears that when using 5ghz wifi band and I initiate a large download that will invoke a high speed requirement, the router craps out, drop the 5ghz connections and won't let me rejoin it unless I do one of the three methods mentioned above. Also a sidenote, the 5ghz band has larger range than the 2.4ghz band which is weird. I have attached the logs on the last event, and also enables remote login. Let me know how I can fix this. Thanks! UPDATE: I set every device to a static IP and that seems to have fixed the issue for me. I have not had to reboot anything since I did that. I also changed the release timeout to 10000. Hello! Problem: I just updated to the latest firmware on my R3 (v4.0.540) yesterday and was checking the log this morning to see if previous errors had went away and it did! But I also noticed a time error in the logs. Error: daemon.err cli.lua[4247]: [WARNING]: ct e5ef5b01: time went backwards! *I've attached an export of my system logs to this post and I see this error 884 times. So it's definitely cause the logs to be bloated. More Information: I see this error being logged every few seconds. In my system time I have it set to US Eastern Time (GMT-5) and the time appears to be correct. This error didn't show up in system logs before the latest firmware update. This is a WARNING tag instead of an ERROR so it shouldn't be of concern but since it's being logged every few seconds I want to make you aware of it, maybe this was not intended. Ask: Is there anything I can do to prevent this from being logged? Or should I be worried about this error in the logs? Either way I want to report this to you in case you didn't know. Thanks! -Eric R3_2025-02-09T15_56_01.288Z_logs.txt

Question: How to move settings from XR500 to R3?
ejmereen replied to ejmereen's topic in Netduma R3 Support
That is what I thought, thanks Fraser! -
Hello All, I currently have a XR500 but it's starting to die on me, restarting randomly through the day, so I bought a NetDuma R3 to replace it. I have a few questions about moving to this new router. Is there a way to export/import settings I have for my devices between the two routers? If so, what can I import/export between the two? My biggest concern is device names and device rules, that took me some time to setup and configure, so I don't want to have to do that again. I appreciate the help! -Eric
