Hi there,
I own both an R2 and an R3. I use my R3 at home, and I sent the R2 with my freshman daughter to use in her on-campus university residence room, as it is mandatory for students to bring a router to access the internet in their rooms. I tested and made sure the R2 was all ready to go at home, then helped her set it up in her residence room back on August 30th. Being a good two hours away from home, she called me yesterday to say that all of a sudden none of her devices are connecting to her R2 wifi network. This includes an iPhone, a laptop, and an Amazon Firestick. Everything has run smoothly for almost two months, so this was a surprising turn of events.
Since I can't help her troubleshoot in person, she has tried all of the usual steps - several power cycles of unplugging and plugging back in after a few minutes, checking the ethernet connection at the wall jack and the R2, reorienting the antennas, disconnecting devices from the R2 wifi network and reconnecting, and confirming that the overall residence internet signal works for other students with their own routers. I'm simply reaching out in this R2 support forum to see if I've missed anything obvious. I am no tech genius, but I do know enough to have my R3 running smoothly at home, as well as the R2 away with my daughter until this unforeseen problem. I do worry about the idea of doing a factory reset, because I would have to be the one to set everything up again from scratch (including the internal VPN exclusively for the Firestick), and as mentioned, the two hour distance is a problem until she can bring the R2 home to me when she comes home for winter break in December.
I've attached a quick video clip of my daughter showing me the status lights on the R2, and her laptop screen showing her R2 wifi network as 'no internet'.
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks!
