  1. Finally! I am so happy to announce I am finally replacing my Nighthawk XR500 with a new TPLink router. After about 5 years of dealing with the garbage DumaOS, I will finally have it out of my life forever. I won't get into how ridiculous I think it is that for 5 years i have had to deal with Rapps not loading error every time I go to the configuration page. Unable to onitor connections on my network through teh Router spftware. Hours spent trying to fix it, "just change the number of retries to 5, clear your browsers cache, just restart the router, reset to defaults, update the firware, oh try all of the things listed, wait a while and try again". "You just have to wait awhile and try again later". Am I in the Twilight Zone? BS. None of that has ever fixed it. What is this, 1997? That's the solution? So i should tell the software to keep re-trying, wait a while and then have it try again, 5 more times, and that's the "solution"? Even if that was a way to fix it, maybe have a messge onscreen that says "Retrying" or some indication of what it's doing, while it's doing it so you're not just staring at nothing and not knowing if its doing someihng. It doesn't matter though. The code is garbage, at least I think it's the code. I don't know. I've never been able to solve the problem, nor should anyone have to spend as much time as I have trying to fix something like this, when everything is updated and brand new. The Netgear tech support is also garbage. And I hope they are reading this because I really want them to know how much contempt I have for them. I can say with a 100% clear concious how awful they are. I would never say that if they were eventually able to fix my problem, but they haven't ever given me any solution. Sorry but it's true. I've been doing IT Tech support for two decades and Netgears support is by far the second worst. If I told a customer "I'm sorry but we can't fix your problem even though we gave you the hardware and we support the software and then walked away, I would expect to be fired because it means I am clearly unable to do my job. I am literaly planning on driviing over the junk router with my car. I know how immature and idiotic it is, but I can't wait. I could sell it on eBay but I would never do that to another person. Unlike Netgear, I have a concioius. Personally I would be embarrased to be a leader at a company that sells a junk product like this. Not that anyone there cares, because they obviously don't. Nope. It sad that we've had to come expect yet another company to be happy to take our money and then forget you exist after they have it, but thats just business as usual in the USA in 2025. I'ma little surrised its a supposed American company an dnot just anotehr Chinese company selling junk, but I am sure it's just a US company outsourcing the product build to a Chinese company do get teh cheapest price. Or naybe not, I'm not sure. I don't care enough to look for a Made In China sticker oor look itup because they';ve wasted enough of my time over the years. Honestly I don't care because once I destroy the plastic piece of trash router, I will never ave to deal with them again and it's so liberating to know I wont have to wait for hours, talk to some stuttering bone head while they fumble the F around while trying to pretend like they are actually doing something before they shrug their shoulders and send me on my way. Thisis a a great day. Its one more problem I will never have to address again. Did I get my point across? They don't care, but I sure do feel better.
  2. I've been using the XR500 NIghthawk for a few years now and I have to say, I'd never ever buy another NetGear product. From day one, the garbage DumaOS inetrface has never worked correctly. And please save the sermon. I can't count the number of times I've followed all of the steps to try and fix it. The amount of time wasted on it is downright offensive and someone should not have to spend that much time trying to fix a problem like this. I shouldn't say it's always failed to work. I can remember a brief period when I could actually see all of the devices on my network through the interface, but that was a while ago. I just keep getting "Rapp failed to load.. please wait". Resets, reboots, updates and waiting over and over. I can literally drive to the store, buy a new router, update it, set it up and be connected in less time than I've spent just "waiting" to get to teh page I want to get to in DUMAOS device manager. And I'm done. Well I'm not done ranting yet, DUMAOS is a dumb name. Why not just refer to the thing that a person needs to use to configure their router settings as the Nighthawk Configurator? The whole thing from styart to finish is just one big convoluted mess, especially for the average person. You should advertise your routers as"THE router for nerds". If the problem is caused by something someone does wrong or corruption, why not build in some fail safes to prevent the problem from occuring. instead of rapp not loaded yet, please wait and try again, how about a message that instead says "Oh no this isn't working, would you like to go back to a time when it did work? If yes, click here." The fact is, you guys don't know how to fix the problem or you're keeping it a secret because none of teh provided troubleshooting steps work. Ever.
