    I've just recently changed from an R2 to an R3 and have also experienced this. it was only when I logged in and noticed the advert display "Connect to the Xbox network" and found that my friends list was unavailable. It does not last for long but just wanted to mention it as my R2 and standard Virgin Hub 4 log onto the network as soon as the machine boots up.
