Rock reacted to BSdetector in NEW FEATURE ANNOUNCEMENT: GEO-FENCING
I am sorry to crash in again in a different thread. But you closed the last thread when I criticized your handling of support for XR700. It is interesting that the only thing you do is feature updates. The first post on Netduma 3.0 future was made on the 1st of October. You published this last feature update on the 3rd of April. Why didn't you publish it on the 1st of April? It would have been not only exactly 6 months on the day since the declaration of the great features of DumaOS and all the great features that would make every other router blush and crawl into a hole out of shame, but it would also have been perfect for "APRIL FOOL'S DAY"
We all bought an unfinished product. Promises of RAPPS that still are... shall we say non-existent I know, I'm going back to the same thing again... that theme button to change the red color. Not even that have you been able to change in all this time. Lets not mention the freeze-up I get in the OS not being able to login. So yes, i feel like a fool, but don't worry. I'm quite sure I'm not alone.
Two simple questions:
When will beta start?
When will the release come out?
Do you even have a schedule or do you make things up ad-hoc as you go? Just curious... And so are the Netgear folks I've been talking to.

Can we stop with the name dropping please. As has been explained by all concerned in this thread Netduma create DumaOS, Netgear create and run the XR routers, both have to be tested and the firmware has to work in harmony,. This is a is time consuming process, with two lots of firmware running on one machine.

Just be patient. When it the FW comes out, it will be out. Nothing you can to or make that happen any sooner.
If your router is working. Leave it along. "If it works, don't fix it!"

Yeah sure, I wish updates would be more regular. But I also think some of the rage criticism the NetDuma team receives is a bit unfair. The reality is my router works very well. It’s been running consistently since I bought it about a year and a half ago."
Rock reacted to Netduma Alex in ANNOUNCEMENT: The Future of DumaOS: Version 3.0
Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it's frustrating to have to wait so long for an update, but I assure you that this upcoming version update is totally real, and totally on track.
Regarding the XR500, why would we want to leave this update off our most popular product? We are planning on releasing this update to every DumaOS router. We can't promise that it will be a simultaneous release, but any delay would only be caused by time constraints. We would not use a delayed release as a marketing ploy. Bear in mind that the XR500 is by far our most popular product so it's going to be a priority for us.
Regarding lack of updates so far, I will say that the vast majority of routers only get bug fixes and security updates. We are bringing a massive update that will add many new features and will represent a huge leap forward for DumaOS, and it will be provided to all existing customers free of charge. How many routers have you had that received an update that overhauled the entire experience and made your router feel like a brand new product all over again? That's what 3.0 is doing to do.
Anyway, i'm sorry that you won't support us any longer, but I hope that you'll take another look at us once 3.0 is released.

Well hopefully once the new version comes out you'll change your mind. It's not just one feature, it going to be a whole suite of features, some of which users have been requesting for a long time. It's also a statement of intent to keep expanding DumaOS to be as feature packed and versatile as it can be.
