Many of you have requested new games and applications to be detected in DumaOS. Thankfully, adding new applications is easier for us to do than ever thanks to our self-learning DPI engine.

What isn't easy is installing all the different programs and games that we receive requests for. Because we sometimes have to wait several hours for a new game to download, the backlog of titles we want to add means a massive bottleneck.

This is where you can really help us make DumaOS better for everyone, and it should only take about 5-10 minutes.

If you have an application or game that you would like us to add, all we need from you is a packet capture. You can do this using a free piece of software called Wireshark; we've included full instructions and a video on how to use it below.

Once we have your capture and put it through our engine, we can test it to ensure the traffic is detected correctly before releasing it to everyone.

INSTRUCTIONS

• Install Wireshark on your computer
• (Optional) Disable all but one network interface
  • For example, disable wifi and just use ethernet
  • This will ensure that the traffic isn't being sent to the wrong place
• (Optional) Shut down all applications on your PC other than the one you're trying to capture
  • This will make it easier for us to tell your application apart from background noise.
  • If your application is a game, have the launcher started but not the game.
  • If your application is a media service, have the menu loaded, but do not start the audio/video yet.
• In Wireshark, double click the interface the application will be using. For example, if you're using Ethernet, double click Ethernet, etc
• Once packets are appearing in Wireshark, begin to play the game/use the application
  • If your application is a game, make sure you get the entire matchmaking process and a few minutes of gameplay.
  • If your application is a media service, capture about a minute of activity. We don't want the filesize to become massive.
• After a few minutes, click the Stop button at the top of the screen
• Export/save the capture as a .pcapng file, from the File menu
• Once saved, you can now close the capture

Now upload your capture to this thread. You can attach it directly, or upload it via a shared file service like Dropbox and link it in this thread.

Note: To accurately detect patterns, it's necessary to have at least two captures for each game.

With one capture, we don't have enough data to identify which parts of the capture are constant, and which are transient. This could lead to false positives.

Although not essential, it's also helpful to have captures from different platforms and different game modes. Again, this helps us identify consistencies between all platforms and modes, and disregard data that changes between them.

Also noticed when monitoring the Duma Ram and CPU usage during network traffic the utilisation is often near max causes a domino effect on latency spikes etc 

The DNS input field is missing and the rest of the setup cannot continue properly due to lack of a DNS being configured and all additional setup steps have to be skipped.

I actually got word of the r1 back on the old xim 3 forums as the two companies attempted to collaborate for a brief moment. 

I'd like to see more involvement to the general community from actual devs like there used to be. The developer(s) themselves used to actually interact with the community and provide feedback on what was going on behind the scenes and even helped support individual users directly. (Mostly during the r1 era)

Fraser does an excellent job as community support, but it's not enough in my opinion. The community needs to hear from the people actively developing as well like it used to be. 

I understand the company has grown, and yet it is still small, but it's missing that element of community that thrived in the past. 

I think it's been completely detrimental to the company by not addressing well known bugs and seemingly stringing a carrot along that all will be fixed with an upcoming update (with new features(

I'd love to see a a change in this direction with some resources being directed towards taking out  known bugs and making the router function soundly while waiting for additional features. 

This has always been my main gripe with netduma.  There has never been a 100 percent solid build. There's always a few things that are broken.

I heard of you guys originally from the Xim forums. They also have a small team (5-7 people) and have also grown well beyond their roots. 

The difference with the xim team is they would never let well known bugs fester between releases. Anything that came up was addressed immediately while other major features were being developed. On top of that, the main developer himself still responds to threads on a weekly basis. 

I want this same dedication from netduma, like there used to be. Allocate some resources to squash out problems with current builds, and please let us hear from more than just fraser. Bring back trust and community. 

I just had an idea for a future improvement. Not sure might be dumb but I thought it would be cool if you add a schedule on ping optimizer that you could check your ping throughout the day. I'm kind of a numbers person and just to see what times of the day are best in the household for ping and such. I only play cod really and different times of the day really does matter for me at least. I honestly don't know if more their end of things or my area.

Vivo en España y lo que más me atrajo de este router nigthawk xr1000 es que podías seleccionar cualquier zona geografíca y jugar allí. 

Alguna recomendación de porque ahora no se puede elegir ubicaciones de juego.

Teste de dns para saber o melhor dns para sua rede também seriam ótimos 

Teste com jitter em tempo real seria muito significativo porque nem precisaria entrar no bufferbloat para testar.

Como os próprios Asus tem isso conforme imagem.

Isso daria também mais credibilidade ao roteador e teríamos tudo no próprio dumaos, sem utilizar app de terceiros e facilitando a vida de todos.

Será q isso seria possível? Em alguma das futuras atualizações?

  A Asus já usa esse recurso com capas de jogos para abrir as portas do jogo com um só click. 

Já vem todos protocolos anexados. Até a comunidade ajudaria a colocar os protocolos específicos para PC e vídeo game de cada jogo.

O que vocês acham dessa ideia?

Isso ajudaria até qualquer leigo no assunto a abrir portas e facilitaria quem tem dificuldades de saber quais são as portas específicas de cada jogo.

I think the overwhelming majority of Netduma users over the years use the router primarily for the geo filter specifically. 

If you look at most of the complaints or problems over the last three generations of routers, the majority of the problems stem from basic expectations of routers in general: Disconnection issues, bunk wifi/ether speeds, qos failures, ipv6 failures, etc, (there are many).

However, not as many complaints about the Geo-filtering, except using your PC as a PC in device manager while geo filtering, which doesn't work correctly. (Most recommendations say to make your PC a console or PS4 for best results). 

Enter the the Geo box.

No Wi-Fi, only wired. (Your users are already wired for the most part for intended geo filtered devices) Primitive in function, without any extra fluff or desire to be an actual router. Just a device to accommodate an existing router with geo filtering and additional attributes that may help gaming on said wired device. 

You could even go wild and offer an app for windows/PC that solely focuses on geo filtering. 

Just an idea. 

the only way for me to get a good ping with my netduma r3 is using exitlag program, so can you add exitlag to a packet  prioritry list in the duma os  as a exitlag program
