ISP Routing and R1

Recommended Posts

I have been having lots of problems with FIFA 20 (as most people do) and EA claim its the ISP routing of the data based on a trace we performed. Talk Talk are now saying to change my router but to my knowledge the router has no impact on the number of Hops the data takes thats Talk Talk isnt it?

Example below with my IP address blanked, what I dont also understand is the R1 shows Ping as about 17ms but that cant be real surely if the data is taking this amount of hops to a server in Germany or somewhere not in UK?

DumaOS.lan X.X.X.X  2ms
ae50-ner002.loh.as13285.net 2 8ms
ae50-scr102.loh.as13285.net 3 9ms

Talktalk probably want you to use their router because they don't know how to troubleshoot ours. It might also be a cop-out answer, it's easier to blame your router than to investigate their own network.

Honestly though I don't see how any router could affect the route your data takes. A router only has control over your local network, not the outside world. ISPs have much more control over routing.

It does seem to spend quite a few milliseconds in london, what's your final ms connection to the game? Also, where are you attempting to connect from/to? Like, where are you and where's the server?
