@blackfirehawk also believed that there was a huge problem with packet loss after testing with a connection manager program.

He said that by douplicating the packets send and received through port 3074 he was getting good results. Maybe is related with your thoughts.

I’ve been testing also for a while the same method, but I can not assure is working for me. Need to do further investigation, overall with the network settings. Is quite confusing setting them propperly and I don’t know if I’m doing right

There is one thing with this though, you cannot really duplicate packets you didn't receive in the first place.

So I don't make this confusing the first screen shot is with just one game played. It played very well and like it should. To keep this an accurate test I played the same game and stayed on the same server. When playing a game we are always downloading more then uploading. So it would stand to reason that we would see more high priority packets in the download then the upload. Just like my first screen shot shows. But now look at the last screen shot after a number of games. The high priority download packets fall behind to a point where now the upload high priority packets surpasses the download high priority packets. And this shouldn't be.. You see what im saying?  Its at this point when the upload high priority packets surpass the download high priority packets the game becomes very erratic.. Most games we are downloading around 580-680 kbps. And unpload at around 180-280kbps. Give or take of course.

Something is disrupting my download high priority packets. And the only way I can correct this is by resetting the router. And the minute I do that things work again and my results are just like the first screen shot. Im curious to see if others are having this issue.. Its easy to spot! If you have any thoughts or suggestions im all ears!

Thanks!

Zippy.

You will always see a difference in data rate coming from the server, in a game like CoD for example you are only sending your own player data but you are receiving data from 11 other players and yourself. So the packets coming from the host are bigger.

That said. I do remember something that the option DumaOS Classified games only prioritizes packets below a certain amount of bytes. (Not sure of this, devs would have to confim) So maybe it's a programming issue where it just doesn't tag traffic like you said.

On the other hand, if you divide the 2 figures it would mean you have a 6% packetloss. Not an implausible figure.

One other thing is also that CoD sends data to the backend servers alongside game data. Things like stats are uploaded realtime. In my case this stream is also coming off port 3074 together with game traffic from 3074. This is also why QoS stays active when you sit idle in the menu. Since you have 57344 as source port this might not be the case for you. When I change my setup to where I go through my PC, the source port changes but for some reason backend communication stays at 3074.

And the other thing is your game needs to have symmetrical tickrates. WW2, BO4 and MW have 60Hz servers so 60 packets per seconds up and down. But games prior to that didn't necessarily follow that scheme. IW for example had a 100Hz client tickrate but a 20Hz host tickrate. So you would be sending 5 times as much packets as downloading.

And last thing, you have 2 rules in your QoS setting. I find that if you set for example SRC 3074:3074 to 30000-45000 it works in both directions. So there is no need for the inverse rule. You might actually be tagging other traffic for QoS that's not game related.

Not saying you are not on to something by the way, but there is other possibilities as to why it seems this way.

GHOST have you ever done Packet Capture on a Netgear router before? Was wondering if I have to also enable WAN Port mirror to LAN port1..

Thanks!

Zippy.

I have not used any of the features available in that menu........will check it out in more detail today.

Read thru your other posts and we are definitely experiencing the exact same thing.

All the other things we uncovered and added have helped but there is still so many kinks that needs ironing out - seems like we are left to our own mercy on getting things resolved.

Stability is key and Instability makes everything else irrelevant, hoping we can get it figured out tho.

The first screen shot is right after I do a reset to the router..  The game plays great. And notice my high priority packets that have been prioritized. Now the second screen shot is when things are still playing well second game.. Things look good. Notice the high priority packets.. Third screen shot now look what takes place! gameplay was erratic.. Not at all like the first two or three games.. Do you see the difference in high priority packets? There is definitely something not right.

I've been wondering this myself. Been noticing my high traffic detected seems to stop working after I've had my router on a while. I've been thinking its not actually working but sometimes the numbers are still going up even though the high priority light isnt on. I'm gonna try and look into this later and see if I can do some investigating.

Thanks Bert for your reply. Im sorry I should have stated that those screen shots were taken playing Halo5. And you are also correct about the port arrangement. I was just experimenting at the time to see if the second arrangement would help. What I find strange about this is I get the same results if I use DumaOS Console traffic prioritization. And not manually add my ports. Both give the same results. Meaning if I reset my router both work for a handful of games and then for whatever the reason my download high priority traffic starts to drop off and slow down. But what I cant figure out is why would a rest to the router clear it up for me again? That's the part I cant wrap my head around. Again thanks for keeping an open mind about this. I honestly feel there is something happening and Im just trying to figure out what it is!

Thanks GHOST for your reply. And I do think we are experiencing similar things here. How many times have we made adjustments and all of a sudden a particular game plays awesome! But then the very next time we play we are back to square one! Something tells me there is something more going on here then what we think. And I still see new people that have just purchase these routers pop in to the forums with very similar issues. Im not pointing fingers at anyone here. Im just trying to figure out what is the cause of this. I know something is up! But just what is it..  This is one of the most confusing things ive ever run across. But I do believe if we all put our heads together we maybe able to figure out a possibility or at the very least rule something out and focus in another direction. Its like you said there are still kinks that need ironing out! Let me know if you find anything out on your digging!

Thanks!

Exactly, for whatever the reason I feel the high priority traffic starts to bog down or become stale. The flow of traffic definitely gets disrupted.. In my case I notice it effects my download high priority traffic first.. See if you can find anything and keep us posted,

Im able to print out a list of just prioritized traffic.(what ever you have in you Traffic Prioritization)

Im able to print out a list on non Prioritized traffic(whats not in Traffic Prioritization)

Im then able to find out if any non prioritized traffic should be in Prioritized traffic according to your Traffic Prioritization rules.

obviously i would have to make this app, but its very possible.

It could help in working out if traffic is getting tagged wrong.

also its possible the traffic is alive but no data is being sent which means its not going to count, but still show its active.

RedBull if you could make such an app it may very well help and see what is going on. Specially about tagging. Again in my case I can see something is taking place. And it doesn't make any sense as to why. Specially if a reset to the router cures it for a few games again. Your app likely would help eliminate chasing down to many rabbit holes though which in itself would be great! If you have anything else that comes to mind of possibilities im all ears!

Thanks again for all your hard work and your apps! Your apps have help me confirm what I got with wireshark. Good job! I have mentioned a feature like this for a very longtime.. And it should be an app on the router.

I can only say that I haven't noticed this.

My uptime at the moment 4 days 8 hours.

Upload prioritized 1.30M

Upload background 10.44M

Download prioritized 1.27M

Download background 20.58M

The prioritized counters run up a bit when CoD sits idling in the menu but they seem to be equal going in and out. Only rule I am using is SRC 3074:3074 DST 30.000-45.000. See what happens when I leave it for a good while.

I have run in exact the opposite since the last 6 weeks, whenever i reboot my router i run in bad games (bad connection, hit reg.) Sometimes even for more than a few hours it stays like that bad.

I am having the exact experience we are talking about now on BO4 and MW strangely enough.

Its been a slaughter house for like 3matches against the same players.... i was like superman on the map.....and all of a sudden the same players sponge bullets and everyone is like Chuck Norris around the map, lol

I'm not finishing negative but i am definitely not having the same experience as the first few lobbies.

See with that port arrangement one would think that with that type of arrangement you would have everything covered and nothing else would need to be done when it came to prioritizing ports. Because technically your only prioritizing UDP type traffic. How many games are played before that screen shot? Also how did the game perform?

Thanks!

Yes man, this is quite the same I said two monts ago in other topics. Why the hell, when you find a setting that makes miracles, only work for one or two matches? And then, never in life makes that magic again. It's quite annoying.

I also believe that Activision has something to do in all of this, that the same game servers penalizes you somehow, whathever your connection is. There was a member of this forum (can´t remember who was) that make an experiment in wich he played in a new game account, and the game went "misteriously" smoothy and fixed. Something similar happenned to user @East. In "Traffic Prioritization Settings: Modern Warefare (BO4)" topic, page 22, he shows a game play in wich he changed his IP address and this gameplay was wonderfull.

I also find it so misterious all well knowed youtubers who upload videos daily, and they always has the best connection you can imagine. Some might tell me that this people only shows his best matches, that when a game doesn´t go smooths, they quit... but even so, I only get that perfect connections once a month if I am lucky, and this people managed to get it every day. More over, we all have a friend who plays the game, and it's nearly always smooth to him, but we are breaking our brains trying to fix a connection that seems impossible to fix at all.

That's the main reason why I think that there's any kind of discriminatory factor in connections and matchmaking beyond SBMM. Call it "lag compensation" or whathever you want. I created a topic talking about this a few months ago called "Has Activision a Blacklist?", because I almost think this. For example, this weekend the game got me out of my nerves due to server matchmaking. The game only put me in British servers, witch are, by far, the worst for my gameplay, and if I set my geophilter out of Britain, the game was not able to find a simple lobby in al around Europe, so I though "maybe if I block all british servers, I can force the game to find a server anywhere else", but I blocked one british server, and another, and another, and another... and not only the game did not find a lobby out of England, but there was no end to british servers.

On the other hand, a spanish (like me) youtuber who uploads videos daily with a magical connection, once told that the game nearly always put him in Russian servers, but it takes a few minutes to find a game for him. Note: the few times I played in Russian servers, the game was so smooth.

About reseting the router like @Squizz said, it don´t works for me. I'm more in the side of @Mobel. It's a total dissaster. Just want to share with you all results of today gameplay after resetting the router. They have been quite annoying and raging. Normally I would quit this kind of games inmediatly, but I stay just to show you how bad is my experience using Netduma, BB, geophilter, @RedBull2k app, and whathever comes in mind. There's no picture of the first game, but the result was 5-10.

You have to reset the console each tome you change geo filter location.
