@East

The key to my setup seeing positive changes is that i have used the various wire captures i have to identify the ports i want prioritised - hence my TP light always coming on once i boot BO4/MW.

As for Anti BB, i also basically kinda never really used it to the extreme as my sliders were already set to 98%/98% (always).

What i can see being a counter to Anti BB being set to 'never' would be the QOS flower allocating bandwith to each device.......with my console already having the necessary gaming packets prioritized over other traffic via the manual rules created and the bandwith spread being biased toward the console it serves the same purpose if not a better purpose than the Anti BB sliders as those sliders are not doing anything really for the console as far as the priority traffic is concerned - i understand that was not its purpose but it could have been interferring in some way (might be wrong but that is the effect i can see and feel from my gameplay)

I will upload some gameplay over the weeknd when i get a chance to play some MW/BO4

With it off I'm having a blast.  Not sure why that is.  I understand that R1 user may not want to disable it.  I have to wonder, perhaps try when I get more time if changing device from Computer to PS or xbox if there is a difference?

Useful information in this thread and others and I’ll admit it’s helped alittle but not the method of lobby balancing/lag comp this COD uses.

1 very important thing I’ve noticed is if I’m in a lobby I’m meant to be dominated in then the game just adjust spawns till I die or lose the game.

my team will just get spawned in the dumbest of places whilst the opposition get awesome spawns.

so awesome in fact I have on many occasions spawned into enemy gunshots/kill streaks or just flat out spawned in front of them.

dont get me wrong I’ll die to a better player and take it on the chin, like I always have for the last 20yrs but crap like in MW is total horseshit.

Its crazy through the years my network has gotten better and better but my gaming experience has gotten worse.  I tried a nord vpn on black ops, maybe ill try it again with modern warfare

Before adding an XR500 to my hardware collection, I used to use HMA VPN to connect to US servers across the pond (via a DD-WRT-flashed router), primarily because EU servers tended to match me with continental European players who did not speak English - I like to communicate with players and I only speak English, hence the VPN usage. The chances of English-speaking players on an east coast US server was maybe 95%, as opposed to maybe 50-50 when playing on a European/UK server. I’ve generally been playing over a VPN for nearly 10 years!

My ping to a US VPN server on the east coast from the UK was around 72ms; not bad at all considering the distance. The in-game ping would generally go up due to the extra hop from the VPN server to the game server but despite the relatively high latency of 72ms and above, vs a closer European server, I found that the lag comp generally went in my favor.

I now use my XR500 to change my home location rather than use a VPN but if anyone is interested, ProtonVPN is free and works with the Hybrid VPN feature of DumaOS. You need to paste your credentials into the Advanced tab of your router VPN section. https://protonvpn.com/

After many, many tests over the years, some quite complicated ones involving Windows ICS and specialised Connection Emulator software to artificially invoke lag to the connection etc., as with you ‘ugotstretched’, I tend to have the opinion that the better my connection, the worse my gaming experience is. This is not definitive; it’s just a general observation which I’ve made over the years of playing COD.

Most serious gamers pay for the best connection they can afford and therefore this is fundamentally wrong. Lag compensation algorithms/netcode should not chastise a gamer with an excellent connection.

I’m a fair player BTW and I never ‘tinker’ with my connection in order to gain an unfair advantage. I’m quite satisfied to lose to a better team, but when I am going game after game with hardly any kills and I see a player on the other side seemingly in ‘god mode’ whom nobody can touch, with 30/0 KD, I will go out of my way to figure out what is going on.

I never used to take much notice of the kill-cam replay’s because what you see on your screen and what the other player sees on their screen are two different things. But what you do see with the replay, is what the server itself saw, not what you or the other player saw. It can sometimes hint as to what is going on with the lag comp.

Online gaming can seem infinitely complicated sometimes if you are an avid gamer. I often spend more time changing settings than I do playing. I don’t mind experimenting but wouldn’t it be nice to just sit down and have a fair game without having to worry about settings!?

Im on the East Coast of the USA. I ping to the NJ server where i live at about an average of 15 to 25.  I have a gig over a gig connection hard wired have had my router with every setting possible enabled and disabled and a mixture of both.  Ive hindered my bandwidth used ping assist in the ocean.  Bottomline the lower my ping is to a gm the worse the lag comp is.  Just cause im ping at 10 to a server does not mean the other players are pinging the server at the same ping.  So i end up getting screwed

Cuz I am in same state with same internet it sounds like and I have the same issues. I am going to try some of the settings other users suggested here.

The settings will only help your hit reg not the crap the game throws at you. That might be enough to help thou.

Im still testing now, but it has helped abit.

I have that rigged up at the moment, ICS with my playstation connected for some tests, I am probably using the same software as you.

The ICS makes my ping somewhat more unstable but that maybe has something to do with using a weak PC and a USB dongle to connect to LAN.

What baffles me is that I hardly notice any degradation in hit detection going up to 100ms ping.

So really what I am thinking now is that low ping players get a artificial latency penalty, similar to the anti host advantage. Now what I am curious about is how that is determined. Ie do they take the average ping in the lobby or is there a fixed value. I need to explore this more in Europe on a very low ping. Here in Asia half the lobby is usually red barring.

I get way less instant death situations by adjusting my ping up to 100ms playing on the singapore server than playing on the Japanese server at 107ms.

Hey @GHOST-1-EC, excellent work so far, but would you kindly be able to provide what download/upload speed in Mb you are supplying your console/PC with on the flower? You seem to have success with your method, so I'm gonna have a go replicating it as best I can cos I'm still getting alot of shoot first die first etc even though DSLreports rates me at A+ and 30ms ping. Thanks mate.

Those are the settings I put and my conclusion is that the hit detection/registration has improved very much!! Always get red dot with this ports and generally works ok. I have enable the share access because of the limit of my speed 100/10 I was always one step behind on my games. With enable share access on the most games I am very good. The antibufferbloat in disabled as you can see. Of course is not everything perfect. There are games that I am one step behind... I don’t know what other I should to improve that... maybe there is no way to fix that. Many many things are related also with the quality of the servers and how at the end handle activision/infinity ward those servers to improve them. We most not forget that many years know every CoD have problems...

also we know everyones lines are diffrent so we might have difrent expierinces

and my cousin who is from ireland would play with us i am from london  and i would host  the game

my cousin would always win every game

when i hosted because he had a 3-4 connection  and i couldnt kill him

when he was host   he was a lot lot easier to kill as he had 4 bars

This is called host disadvantage, wich is the most unfair s*** that Activisuon has made to cod series. It just gives artificial lag to host player.

I was put in some momment of BO1 era. Before that, I remember that being host was the most pleasant feeling that a player could have. You were a second in front of all the other players.

I find it unfair because every year this is one of the most selt games, and is very ugly from Activision when they don't put dedicated servers with the toons of money that they ate winning, and they leave this function to players. So host player are doing Activision dirty job. And what they get for it?? A DISADVANTAGE??? SEARIOUSLY???

As we say in my country: "Tocate los cojones!!" Wich translayed would mean something like "Touch your own balls!!"

Game tends to choose as host players with great connections, specially the ones with high upload speed, so what I do to prevent this happens I put my qos upload at 2%, and, sonetimes, even my download speed.

If your multiple rules cover the same ranges then they need to be changed to either one rule covering that entire range or more than one rule.

This game use both, dedicated and playerhost. Take a look at your ping assist when you get in a game and it will show you if you are conectes to a dedicated server or a peer.

Most of the peers you see are actually incorrectly classified as peer when they should be classed as servers. Our cloud update will fix that. Do an IP lookup on the domain name and that will indicate if its a server.

What Fraser said. But until it is fixed, the biggest giveaway is the host tickrate. Dedicated server is 60Hz and peer is 10-20Hz or so.
