  1. While updating my dns servers with the xr500 I stumbled upon within the advance settings tab QOS tagging options. I understand that the router does it’s job with it’s built in QOS services but what about DSCP and WMM tagging within the console? Do I leave them unchecked? Does using them at the same time as the xr500 QOS being active cause issues? Can they run at the same time? https://gaming-age.com/2022/05/xbox-may-update-includes-ability-to-create-share-view-stories-in-the-xbox-app-qos-tagging/amp/
  2. Hey guys I have run into a couple of issues with the netgear and my PS5 as of late, it connects perfectly via wifi but for some unknown reason when I use a wired connection with the PS5 it will either fail to connect or connect but be a very unreliable connection. I have checked everything that I could think of but I am by no means a gaming router guru. Is there a step by step process anyone can give me so I can try and fix it. Thanks in advance.
  3. Looking to hear everyone's input and suggestions on what firmwares their using that aren't beta versions of 3.0 and also hasn't give yall any issues and that functions correctly as it should be. I'm just looking for something that is reliable/stable that lets me use all the functionalities with no problems such loop waiting times for it to load and ect as well wifi connection drops . Pretty much i'm tired of having to constantly factory reset at this point.
  4. I've always wondered how the streamers can find lobbies with "noob" players and now what i know is that by using a Netgear you can trick the SBMM and find easy lobbies (but i'm not 100% sure). I don't like to play always competitive on Warzone or Multiplayer matches, i prefer to play quiet. What i'm asking is (if possible) how did i need to setup my router in order to get those easy lobbies? I have a Netgear XR500
  5. Each time I make any changes to certain settings like QOS, bufferbloat, etc, I reboot the router (as I read this was recommended with any setting changes made). After doing so, I cannot connect to the internet via wifi (connecting to internet via ethernet cable on router works however). The only solution that I found that works is to factory reset the router, which then allows me to connect to the internet via wifi. Please help. Thanks in advance.
  6. Hi All. It has been a while since i played some online gaming, I decided to jump on fortnite for a change and I can not remember how to get chat working? The ingame chat doesn't work i think its a problem woth the GEO FILTER but im unsure and I can not remember how I used to get it to work but im pretty sure is a problem on the southern not with the ps4 or psn.
  7. Will try to make this as short as possible... Ok so having moved house I took fibre out with sky and I'm now having the garage (offset to the rear of the house) converted to an office/ gaming room and I really want wired connection. I have a Netgear xr500 from my old house and being on virgin previously I could just put it into modem mode and have everything run through the Netgear. Because it would be too much of a big job running a wired connection from router to garage I'm thinking of having my xr500 act as a switch via powerline adapter in the garage so would look something like this Skyrouter-powerline-poweline_garage-netgearxr500-devices The question is would this work and offer me a good wired connection and the second question is would I still get use of the features of the Netgear xr500 router? I will be doing a mixture of console and pc gaming and would also want the ability to run my phone/ tablet off of WiFi as well... Or is there an even better method? All help greatly appreciated.
  8. Hi, I recently got Fibre to the home in Ireland. I have been told that as there is an ONT with ethernet installed, I can connect the router to that without the need for a modem. However I have been told that I need to vlan tagging and that the router must have vlan to wan. I know that the nighthawk XR500 has vlan tagging but does it support vlan to wan? My friend is with the same ISP and is currently using a Netgear D7000. It seems from online posts that this router has vlan tagging but not vlan to wan but still works perfectly fine with the ONT. Does the xr500 have the same vlan mapping capabilities as the d7000? I will link below a short guide on how to use a router with my ont so you can check to make sure that the xr500 is capable of this. Thanks http://finbarrbrady.com/2017-07-13-replace-eir-f2000/
