  1. i would like to request a Automated Scheduled Reboot Feature added to the firmware capabilities for the Netgear XR500 Router. this feature is present on every other commercial router. Reason: the Router Performance sometimes Degrades over time or will not put through internet data. After Reboot the performance is top again or the internet data will be put through again.
  2. Is there a fix for this? I recently purchased my first Nighthawk/ XR series / NetDuma router a couple weeks ago. Spent mad time setting it up to get it right. I updated the firmware, manually to XR1000 1.0.0.64_1.0.49, since the router never detected an available update. Afterward I kept receiving an error (picture), that says: TypeError: undefined is not an object (evaluating 'i.generateKey') I was advised (see link to Netgear post) by netduma guys on that forum to reset to factory defaults to clear the issue, and not to use a configuration file because it would reload whatever the problem is. The issue is persisting after the reset. I don't know what else to do but it's a real pain in the ass. Netgear Post: Re: Firmware Update Failed (RX1000)
  3. Forgive me if I’m late on this but is just a netgear side of update on firmware or was there anything on the DumaOS side of software that was ironed out???? as always still here holding it down waiting for a major update on firmware for the overall system.
  4. Hi everyone, We know what you’re thinking, and we get it. We said R2 updates would be frequent (and they will be), but this update ended up enveloping a lot more than we initially expected. That’s frustrating for you and for us too. However, we hope you’ll find the wait was worth it – this is a huge update with fixes and changes across the board. Feedback on the R2 has been great, helping us to improve everyone’s experience while fixing specific problems too. The changelog below shows just much work has gone into this update. This is the latest in DumaOS and it sets the stage for new features we’ll reveal in the near future. From all of us at Netduma, thanks for your patience, and for caring enough about DumaOS to stay vocal. We hope you enjoy the latest firmware! 5. Updating my r2 firmware from 3.0.205 to 3.0.394 and wondering if I can backup settings before a factory reset. Was told to always factory reset router before updating firmware but I was wondering if I can save my settings to a backup so I dont have to do all the settings I changed before again or will backup screw up the new firmware?
  6. I updated the firmware of the R2 to the newest firmware And here starts the trouble (Warzone) * can't find any matches under the 100ms ping🥱 * bad connection, packet loss😡 * he keeps searching for a match.🤦 * u need to turn off ur filtering mode/strict mode/fast search anyway delete everything and then u can start a match. If u have the time in like 20 minutes...😑 * don't see some friends online.. and when they are online they cant join you.. why? I dont know🤷‍♂️ also when filtering mode is off Downgraded the firware to ...205🤚👌 and i have no troubles anymore.🥲 I upgrade the firmware when its ready and no trouble anymore. So please fix the new firmware. Its not going well. They cant find any matches under 100ms. I have turned down the whole geo filter and its still struggling with finding a match. Conclusion: stay on 205 firmware. 🤐There is no trouble in here. (Also i turned down the whole router and reset the whole router) so thats not a solution.
  7. TL;DR: the v3.0.394 update broke reaching devices after they have been offline for more than a couple of minutes, therefore breaking PC-waking functionality (from sleep, hibernate and shutdown states). Context: I was able to wake my PC from hibernation remotely (from a different country) for the whole of last year without issues, but it seems that updating to firmware v3.0.394 has broken this setup. I am sure that the issue is with the router rather than with the PC since replacing the router with the one from my internet provider and applying the same DHCP and port forwardings works fine (and because no significant PC updates or settings-changes occurred around the time of this loss of functionality). Details: The port forwarding works fine while the PC is awake (I can see the packets arriving). Even more interestingly and worryingly though, whatever went wrong does not seem to be fixable even by a factory reset followed by a rollback to v3.0.205 followed by another factory reset. I did consider the idea that perhaps some setting survived until v3.0.394 even from v3.0.179, but this should not be the case since I followed the suggestion of factory-resetting the router after every update since I got it. The only settings involved in this remote Wake-on-LAN setup are the following: A fixed IP for the PC under DHCP Port-forwarding UDP 7-9 to said IP (and also TCP 3389 for Remote Desktop, but that requires the PC to be awake and has always worked) I frequently rely on this functionality, but especially so if I am not in the country, therefore unfortunately I will be forced to not use the R2 over the holidays (unless it is fixed this week, which I am aware is not a reasonable timeframe ).
  8. Hi, I just updated to the new firmware for the R2 and for some reason QoS won't load. When I try to open it a few moments later I get a message saying "the Rapp is not loaded yet please try again in a minute." I've already factory reset the router twice as well as done a normal reboot.
  9. First this router is using the latest firmware (that is about a year old now) Second The router does not experience power downs due to power loss ( its connected to a back up power supply) Third this firmware is so old I cant even keep track of all the bugs or what is already known but here we go. #1 Randomly the Dashboard will reset to default and I have to re-customize it to the way I like it. #2 randomly settings we return to default i.e wifi will return to combined settings vs my custom names and passwords for 2.4 and 5ghz #3 almost weekly I will be given guides (tool tips) on all the pages even when I have dismissed them multiple times #4 If I have geo filter on for but no devices or apps connected to it I will be unable to connect to some servers that are outside the "filter zone" IE couldnt get windows updates until I realized it worked just fine on my phone hot spot and changed the radius of the zone to the entire planet and boom windows updates and windows 11 #5 My connection benchmarks get deleted at random intervals ( looks like I have never ran one sometimes they get deleted after as little as 6 hours) #6 QOS tab just deletes everything. My custom bandwidth settings, my priority everything on the page just gone.; #7 IPV6 via starlink just does not work with this router I can use my ASUS one from literally 5 years ago and boom IPV6 is plug and play #8 5GHz will just give up randomly, doesn't matter if I am 5 feet away from it using oculus air link just lost connection, sometimes it works on my phone but I cant even see 5GHz as an option on the bedroom xbox series s Testing I have tried to reinstall the Firmware, nothing, I try to ensure I save and log out of the OS nothing. I have even just tried to leave it alone and never log in for a month and nothing. I am sure there are more but its been so long since any communication I stopped tracking them and putting as much effort into this bug report as the team has done with the R2 firmware and communication.
  10. Re-posting from chat... I pre-ordered a Netduma R2 months ago, and after long shipping delays to UK for port / shipping container reasons, it finally arrived 2 days ago and I've set it up. However the connection is constantly dropping and leaving no devices with any internet at all. The only fix is unplug the router and plug it back in again... which is pointless. I've read through the forums and tried all the recommended fixes by other experienced users (increasing lease time to 168 hours, downgrading to previous firmware, factory resets etc.) and nothing is resolving the issue. Also the QoS does not seem to be working properly, it is making every single device run very slowly, much worse than before when I was just using the ISP router... Very disappointing, can someone please help me resolve these issues, or I would need to look at getting a refund, which is frustrating given how much I'd been looking forward to having this router after many months...
  11. [Firmware Version V2.3.2.56] I bought a XR-450 about 2 weeks ago and I've finally been getting some playtime with it for the last couple of days. As far the Geo-Filter goes, I don't notice much of a difference, to be honest. It basically just ensures I don't connect to Florida, Texas, west coast or EU servers that I average 80-150+ ping on (COD). For the last 4 days I have gotten 1 disconnect per day where my internet completely cuts out on all devices for about 5 seconds and then reconnects immediately. As someone that plays for stats, disconnecting mid-match randomly is completely unacceptable. After the first 3 disconnects I had enough and just deleted my console from the Geo-Filter and disabled Strict Mode. The router was then basically running as a default router (minus the QoS I still have activated for "DumaOS Classified Games"). Sure enough, I played some matches again today and one of the matches I join into it just randomly kicks me out of the game. I looked over at my PC and it was disconnected from the internet too, only to reconnect within 5 seconds. I basically ruled out the possibility of it being a Geo-Filter issue. I'm beginning to think either the router itself is faulty, or the firmware is messed up. As of now I'm going to try to roll back to the [2.3.2.40 Firmware] and see if that resolves anything for the next few days (see if it disconnects me from the internet while playing). If it happens again, I'm just going to assume it's faulty and return it. The last thing I see before I changed my IP (by switching router MAC and restarting modem) was [DoS Attack: SYN/ACK Scan] from source: 51.38.15.162, port 443, Wednesday, May 20, 2020 21:50:29 ... But I'm certain I wasn't hit offline by anyone every single time this has happened lol, so I'm not sure what this means, as I see it on there quite a lot. Hope someone can help before having to return it. Willing to provide any additional info. log-1590043248756.txt
  12. Would I like to download the netduma r1 firmware you are developing to test before the official release?
  13. Hello, I tell you, I had the firmware R1-v-1-03-6G, the router has been working correctly for 2 years, I saw that you had taken out the DumaOS for the R1, decided to update and everything was like silk, the router worked better , but it has lasted two months, since now I have a hard time accessing it, because of wifi it does not give me access, you can see the SSID but it does not give access, and by cable the menu goes halfway, it stays blocked. I have tried to download firmware downgrade but when restarting the DumaOS continues to exit, it does not do it, and in order to access the router with admin / password there are many times that it does not give access. I put some screenshots of what happens. Thank you very much and great work.
  14. All issues presented on Netduma R1 contain repetitive feedbacks here in the forum. Friends have already gathered all the information they need to come up with a solution, but they are long overdue when it comes to updates. He seems to have abandoned your project to devote himself to Netgegear projects. What seems to be happening.
  15. Hey guys, I was wondering if I could try out the Beta firmware? @Netduma Admin @Netduma Crossy @Netduma Fraser @Netduma Iain @Netduma Jack @Netduma Joseph
  16. Great update guys. I didnt have bugs with the past firmware until I downloaded that "no feature, Just bug fixes" firmware !!
  17. Hi guys, As I am waiting for the new update as you promised, I was checking in the "firmware update" section on the router and found V2.3.2.32 available. so i updated into that, after the router download and rebooted, I was excited to see some new features like the VPN. unfortunately, nothing. all the same.... what was that about ?????
  18. Installation flow improvement. Added support for SHA256 certificates in lieu of MD5 for OpenVPN. Bug Fixes: Fixes the UPnP port mapping issue. Upgrade Instructions: Using the Download Link below, download and extract the new firmware to a convenient place such as your desktop. The filename after extracting is XR500-V2.3.2.22.img Download Link : http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/XR500/XR500-V2.3.2.22.zip Run your web browser and open http://www.routerlogin.net. Click Settings => Administration => Firmware Upgrade page. Click Browser button and locate the firmware image file. Click Upload button. Wait for upgrade progress to complete. If any problem occurs after upgrading, try clearing the configuration by pressing the Reset Button on Rear Panel until the Power LED blinks and hold on for 5 seconds at least, then the router will reboot with default configuration I had to add my device names again but its working fine since, that was the only issue ive noticed so far, Geo Filter worked fine as does QoS etc
  19. Since the last update I hadn't done a speedtest on my PS4. I used to be able to do a speedtest and the antibufferbloat would not engage as its set for high priority traffic only and it was never triggered by just doing a speed test, it only did when playing games. Now it takes ages to work out my NAT type (Type 2) and the speeds shown are those you would expect with antibufferbloat enabled at 70% for my line and the high priority traffic light comes on, also it now says "The router in use might not support IP packet fragmentation, and some network features of the PS4 might be restricted. Not quite sure what's happened here, also UPnP is not showing the PS4 in the UPnP tables still, although I'm not sure if a PS4 speed test would trigger UPnP port mapping. It seems only Skype triggers both TCP and UDP. Something has changed in this update unless this is now how its meant to be now regarding the PS4 speed test being high priority traffic also PS4 background traffic is triggering antibufferbloat now and then too, but I should not be getting the IP Fragmentation message surely?
  20. I was wondering if the Netduma team will push Netgear to update to the least version of OpenSSL? Currently the XR500 is running 1.0.2n released in Dec 2017 (not bad for Netgear) the latest is 1.0.2o released in March 2018 which patches CVE-2018-0739 I mention this because If left to their own devices Netgear will not fix this on their own. The R7800 is still on version 1.0.2h which is from the 3rd of May 2016 and has many vulnerabilities. Hence my concerns. I assume (hate doing that) Netduma have access to the XR500's GPL source code. If nobody updates the GPL packages ( there are many) Netgear wont, so they need a good swift kick in the Brazil nuts. Voxel on smallnetbuilder is the only other person I know who uses firmware based on stock with updated packages put in place and published on Github and released for download via smallnetbuilder. Netgear just cant be bothered it seems to keep their code up to date. Hence I am hoping Netduma's team can push to keep the XR500 up to date even on Netgears side?
  21. Hi, moved from the R1 to the XR500 approx 1wk ago and all great so far! My firmware is on 2.1.0.4. the latest on Netgears Support site is 2.1.0.6. Under Settings/Administration/Firmware Update, on the GUI there is a button to 'Check for new version from the internet' but it comes back with 'No new firmware version available'. The Release notes for 2.1.0.6 state stability fixes. Should I upgrade manually? Is there a reason the built in firmware checker comes back with nothing available? Also, there was Firmware V2.2.0.4 live on Netgears site but this has been pulled? Do you know why? Regards
  22. Hi. Just a quck question, i am seeing comments about a version 2.2 firmware but I have 2.1.0.6 and I do not have an option to install an update. Is mine the current version. if not, how do I get it installed? B.D
  23. I know this is a shot in the dark, but by any chance have y’all had any talks with Netgear about the possibility of using dumaOS on other older nighthawk models?!?! Bought me a Nighthawk x8 to use for WiFi after I bought my R1, I’d really like to be able to use all the power that router has with DumaOS. I thought I saw a Nighthawk x8 promo that had a DumaOS coloration to it when looking up all the specs and videos on the new xr500... Hope y’all have that in the works!
