  1. Hi, I've recently received my Netduma R2 which I have upgraded to 3.0.394, connected to my BT Smarthub and added the R2 to the BT Smarthub DMZ. Seem to be getting quite a lot of buffering especially on devices that are on WiFi. Connection benchmarking gives me A+ on both speed and ping but ping under load is returning D. Is there anything else I need to change on either my Smarthub or R2? I'm using BT Halo G.Fast FTTC (300Mbps down, 50Mbps up) Thanks.
  2. Hello i was wondering about Snr margin and line attention and what number would be ideal for a stable line.I have a net duma with the BT hub however i am considering purchasing a billion modem to use the feature Snr margin. On speedtest the max speeds i get are 68 download and 19 upload, however the download often results at different speeds rangeing from 10megs to 68 megs on repeated tests and the ping also spikes on speedtest from 11ms to 150.I do not care about internet speed all i care about is quality stable line and good latency for gaming
  3. Hello, I am running DUMA OS and I have been told in the past that if possible i should input my PPPOE login details into my modem which is what I am trying to do. I have an UNLOCKED BT OPENREACH Hauwei hg612 and I am on BT infinity from my ISP. I can access the interface just fine, but i am struggling to set it up correctly to get internet access. Any and all help is appreciated!
  4. Hi all, I read on another post about inputting my ppoe details into the HG612 modem instead of the xr500 in order to give a better experience? Is there anyone on bt infinity & beyond who has done this? If so how exactly and has it made a difference? I have an unlocked modem and I know how to access the interface but I am unsure about any other settings that may need to be changed on the modem or the XR500......
  5. Hi, So today i changed over ISP's to BT and unfortunately im having issues gaining my full speeds. Whilst setting up i entered the PPPoE username and password provided by BT which is generic. Once i set up the credentials the XR500 done a speedtest and it detected that i was getting 73 down and 17 up. Now here's the catch, whilst performing a wired speedtest with nothing else conencted to my network im getting a rather large fluctuation on my download between 40/70Mb and im only getting 0.6Mb up!! Ive changed the IGMP proxy setting to support BT but it hardly had any effect to my speeds. When testing directly to the modem (HG612) I manage to get the full speeds a stated above. Ive re-boot the router numerous times but to no avail. Am I missing something simple here?? Regards,
  6. Hi all, So as you can probably tell by the title, my current broadband provider (IDNET Gaming) is coming to a long awaited end. Just need some advice on what to go to next really, so far ive had BT and TalkTalk previously, and out the three, I must say i've probably had the best experince gaming with BT funnily enough. I have been contemplating sky, just to see how it is, as ive heard alot of good things about them online. My only issue with sky, which is also probably the deal breaker, is the fact that they dont let you use your own modem router combination for some odd reason. Does anyone have any idea if they are still implementing that rule??? or is there a way to bypass this?? Currently im using a HG612 with the XR500 and it seems to work well for my line. Any thoughts and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Regards,
  7. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hP092uuTwk This guy has a trial on G.Fast so lucky but i wonder if pings would be the same what im getting now low pings of 6ms but i heard you have to be closer to the Cabinet. Plus he's using the new openreach modem and there's a new BT Smart Hub X.
  8. Hi, I'm new to this and haven't ordered a netduma yet but have a few questions first. I use by infinity and have an open reach box with a wire that plugs into the router to provide the landline. Is there a port on the netduma for the landline to plug in. My other question is how do I set it up? Do I just plug it in or do I need another router. I basically just want to plug it in and get the landline in the router and be able to connect and not require a second router or anything like that. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Also, sorry if this is the wrong section of the forum as I only just signed up.
  9. Hi to all Duma members, So as per usual, I woke up this morning to find an e-mail from BT sitting in my inbox, and I immediately thought what are these bunch of plebs rising the prices for and/or trying to sell me now. On the contrary I open up the e-mail and they were asking me if i wanted to take part in there new upcoming ultrafast broadband trial for free which would see my download rise from 80Mb to a whopping 300Mb!! I didnt really know what to think so i gave the number on the e-mail a call to verify this. After speaking to the trials team assistant I was told that my area (Upton Park) is one of the 17 areas for G.Fast to go on trial this year. So i went back through the e-mail and walked through the relevant steps to apply. I'll find out by the 15th of March whether ive been accepted. Fingers crossed i get chosen. This e-mail could not have come at a better time, as my contract was coming to an end very soon and I already had decided that I was going to go with IDNet's gamer package. Can you imagine how gutted i would have been if I'd left last month and then all of a sudden I hear about this. So ive decided to run it for the course of the trial and see what its like with gaming and take it from there. Has anyone on here had any experience with BT's G.Fast tech??? Is it really as good as it sounds?? I live pretty close to the cabinet so heres hoping i can max it out And lastly I cannot wait to run some speed tests and a obtain some ping plotter results to see how good this stuff really is. Its the only thing im looking forward to now as no one actually knows whats going on with DumaOS. Watch this space for more updates, and 1 like = 1prayer that i get selected Regards,
