  1. Hey! This ping problem is kinda difficult to explain: A few weeks ago I encountered a big latency problem while sending text messages over WhatsApp. It took multiple seconds to send a message and almost 10 seconds for a voice message. (My connection: 60mbits down and 12 up.) I checked my ping via Speedtest.net and Fast.com: 9-10ms. I restarted the router and it was fine again. As the problem occurred a second time I checked my ping on another website (Its a German website as Im from Germany) www.wieistmeineip.de. It reported a ping of 1900ms! I restarted the router and it was back to 160ms (Speedtest was still reporting 9-10ms). This seems to be some kind of multi-server ping maybe?? Anyway, I connected the xr700 behind our DSL-modem/router and tested this kind of ping on its WiFi (5Ghz) (90-110ms) constantly. I finally managed to isolate the problem. It was the guest network I had set up. It was causing the 160ms normally and the enormous ping spikes of almost 2 seconds (reported by www.wieistmeineip.de). This affected 5Ghz aswell as 2.4Ghz when both guest networks were on. Also this kind of ping seems to be "used" in things like tweeting tweets or chatting on Discord. Do you guys know what this kind of ping is? Anyway, this kind of ping on the xr700 seems to be on point with our modem/router now and I dont have those huge spikes anymore. Its just weird that the guest network causes this weird problems with the normal network if its just enabled and no one is on it. Btw. I get those huge ping spikes (2 seconds) with this kind of latency constantly on the guest networks. The ping spike problem when the guest network was enabled happened after 24-30 uptime. The website that I mentioned states that it sends 5 packets for testing.
  2. I have ran through the updates and also downloaded and installed the img but still stating I need to install updates. No clue what to do at this point lol. Update Firmware Current Version: V1.0.1.20 New Version: V1.0.1.20 Release Notes:
  3. So I having very annoying issues with my XR700 and Centurylink gigabit internet. Basically to use the XR700 on Centurylink fiber, I have to do the following steps: 1. Switch the Internet Setup to require a login connection (Use PPPoe) https://i.imgur.com/YQNtG7u.png 2. Enter PPPoe credentials, switch it to always on, leave everything as automatic 3. Turn on VLAN/Bridge settings, select by VLAN tag group, and change the VLAN ID to 201: https://i.imgur.com/7c4vOwg.png 3a. (Century link needs all traffic to the ONT to be prefixed with 201) So after I set up all these settings, I am connected to the internet successfully. However, I keep getting disconnected for about 2-5 seconds then it reconnects again. this makes it real annoying browsing the web, talking on discord, gaming, etc. I confirmed this by running a simple ping test: https://i.imgur.com/igen9gZ.png As you can see it pings to google.com fine for a bit, then it poops out, then it works fine for a bit, etc. Is there anything I can besides just return the router? I tried both firmware and the original factory firmware.
  4. Hi, I recently bought an XR700 (instead of RAX200) for the amazing presentation of DumaOS (waiting for 1.3 soon) and for the option to avoid to buy a NAS to install my Plex in way to have everything directly by the router (USB). I bought a WD 6TB Elements Desktop Hard Drive - USB 3.0 it on purpose and moved all my stuff from HD1 to WD. Set all settings as for instructions : Router: https://kb.netgear.com/000060256/How-do-I-set-up-my-Plex-Media-Server-on-my-Nighthawk-Pro-Gaming-XR700-router Plex: https://support.plex.tv/articles/230934267-netgear-nighthawk-x10-router/ I did many tries and i don't find a way to be fast as before. I don't need outside home, then i really don't understand why isn't possible to have a fluid transmission from Router to AppleTV/iPads/MBPs. Do you have any suggestion? My Setup is: Internet: Dw:500Mb - Up:350Mb; Router: XR700 (Cables Cat8); Extender: EX8000. Hope for any help. Thanks, Federico
  5. Earlier today, I reported an issue with the WAN Port on the XR700 that can't run the speed at 940Mbps with or without QoS "On". FURRYe38 on the Netgear community was able to replicate and tested out the issue. He confirmed the same problem and you can see his data results here: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-Pro-Gaming-Routers/XR700-is-not-supporting-900Mb-on-the-WAN-to-LAN-test/m-p/1768795#M11573 Netduma Team could you please have a look on this issue with the WAN Port on the XR700. Thank you,
  6. Hello Netduma, The Netgear XR700 was announced in the end of august 2018 and I'm trying to find informations regarding the Netgear XR700 with DumaOS Lifecycle Policy. I would like to know how many years or when the "Support End Date" until they stop releasing a firmware update on a Netgear XR700 with DumaOS. Thank you,
  7. ***June 2019 - I Upgraded my XR500 to a XR700 | The result is the same on the WAN Port I get a Disconnected from LAN on my PS4 Pro*** I recently purchased a Netgear Nighthawk Pro Gaming XR500 to see if it can handle my new internet gigabit speed because my old Netduma R1 was not able to go above 230mbit/s with QoS and 500mbit/s without QoS. The good news, I can reach the gigabit speed with or without QoS but I still get a Disconnected from LAN while I'm playing Street Fighter V Arcade Edition on my PS4 Pro. My XR500 is on the firmware V2.3.240 and I continue to get the same issue that I started a topic for the Disconnected from LAN on the Netduma R1with DumaOS Development Milestone 1.3: forum.netduma.com/topic/27085-disconnected-from-lan/ Could you please have a look on the log file to see if this could be the same issue that occur in the DumaOS Development Milestone 1.3? Thank you, Note: I still use the same setting configuration that I had on my R1 for the XR500. log-1549989723123.txt
  8. Hi Here is a guide on how to successfully create Port Forwarding rules to guarantee you an OPEN NAT on your Nighthawk XR Series router. For a list of required ports for a certain game please consult portforward.com for a comprehensive list or comment on this post or message me and I will provide you with the port numbers for your game and Console/PC. PLEASE NOTE: If you have your router behind a modem/router combo then you must disable UPnP and/or any port forwarding rules you have have configured on it.
  9. For all of you that are new to port forwarding and want to use it as a more reliable way of opening ports that are needed for your gaming needs then look no further than the portforward.com guide to help you with a step by step guide. Please remember to disable upnp as you cannot port forward and use upnp at the same time without port conflicts. https://portforward.com/netgear/nighthawk-xr500/
  10. One of the big reasons I bought the high end Nighthawk XR700 was its ability to see traffic stats in real time. A lot of times I'll have a LAN party and my connection will become worthless because one of the Xboxes or phones or something decides to hog all the bandwidth. I thought that with this router I could see who the bad apple was and block them, restoring order and peace to the land. Or if not block them, at least QOS would take over and not let any one device crush all traffic. However, I've discovered that the traffic monitor and QOS are only on Internet traffic. I can't see who's saturating the internal network. This has become an issue because right now my 5GHZ wifi network is only eeking out 1-3Mb/sec on speedtest, while my 2.4GHZ network is doing around 30Mb/sec (I have 300Mb down / 10Mb up). My wired network is still getting around 300Mb/sec download. So obviously there's a bad guy (or guys) on my 5GHZ wifi. But since none of the devices on that network are using Internet bandwidth, I can't see what's happening. Is there any way to see internal network stats? Did I misunderstand the router's capabilities? What about third party plugins or R-apps? I hate that I have this $500 rocket ship but can't reliably watch 4K videos in my living room... I'm open to any suggestions y'all might have.
  11. So I picked up the XR700 because I loved the fact that it has 6 lan ports and 1 SFP+ port which you can use as a 10gb, 1gb, 100mb, or 10mb lan port or a 10gb wan port. It also destroys the capabilities of the R1 in terms of wifi and power. I'm sure the R1 will do great with DumaOS, but I needed something that could use all of my 1GB internet speeds. I've been with Netduma for a long time (Early Adopter with the R1), and I've also been waiting a long, long time for DumaOS. Was it worth the wait, I can't say for sure because I haven't tested all aspects of it yet, but I can say that I'm extremely happy with this router so far. The wifi is outstanding, it has plenty of horsepower for whatever you need, setup is a breeze (if you set it up connected to the internet and don't set it up Offline that is), there's Hybrid VPN and Plex Server if you use them, but most of all it is a super R1 with the geo-filter, best-in-class QoS, 1gb speeds, and 802.11AD wireless. It's the dream of all of us Early Adopters. Congrats Netduma on this product! You guys have come a long way! I do have some thoughts about it that I wanted to share before I forget. First, I usually always set up my routers Offline. It's just a habit, mostly cause routers always want to have a lan address of and I have at least 3 routers on my network at once. So there's always a conflict if I don't set them up offline and change their lan ip address first. When I tried to set this up Offline, I had some issues with the Setup Wizard not working correctly since it wanted to be online. I got past those issues, but then somehow the XR700 knew there was a dhcp router on my network and changed it's lan ip address to without notifying me of the change. Second, Netgear says you can use routerlogin.net to access the interface, but I have Verizon Fios internet and their router, the G1100, also uses that same address to access it's interface. So that's a conflict you need to work around. You have to disconnect the routers, change the lan/wan ip addresses, then reconnect them so you can use their specific ip addresses to access their respective interfaces. Most users won't have this issue and those that do will understand networking enough to work around it. Third, not sure if this is a bug on the new firmware or not, but when I was going through the Setup Wizard and tried to set both the 2.4 and 5ghz wireless networks to the same SSID, it said I couldn't. After I finished the Setup Wizard, I went into the wireless network settings and found that it had set both the 2.4 and 5ghz wireless networks to the same SSID. Strange for sure. Fourth, there's an issue with accessing the DumaOS interface with different PCs. Each PC will show different settings. The R1 did this with the 1.03.g firmware. I hope this is an issue that can get resolved. I use Chrome on two PCs and one Macbook Pro. Fifth, the lan port leds are supposed to either be White or Amber and either Solid or Blinking according to the manual. Well, I have my PS4 Pro and my Xbox Scorpio connected to lan ports 1 and 2 respectively, and when the consoles are off or in standby mode, the leds are Red. When I turn the consoles on, the leds turn White. So it seems that either Netgear's Amber is Red or Netgear forgot to add the Red led color description in their manual. Both of my consoles are set for Standby mode, so they drop their link rate to 10mb or 100mb when in standby. Just not sure if Netgear's Amber is Red or not. Haha. All said, I'm very happy with the XR700 so far and I'm looking forward to Ping Assist and Jitter Reduction in the future since they're not in the current DumaOS firmware on the XR700. I have yet to play any online games but I will update this post when I do. Congrats again Netduma! Thank you for showing Router manufacturers that us Gamers need better hardware and software, and that if they build it, we will buy it.
  12. I installed the new DumaOS Development Milestone 1.3 on the R1 and since then the console disconnects from LAN while I play on my console. After setting up my QoS, when I start to play online Street Fighter V Arcade Edition on my PS4 Pro, Playstation shows a message that it's disconnected from the LAN. The same message appears in loop until I reboot the NetDuma R1 and l restart the PS4 Pro/video game. Once the router and the console are up, I can play without any disconnection.
  13. Just purchased and set up my new xr700 two days ago. Since then my PS4 keeps losing connection, saying "lan cable not connected". I have set up QoS as recommended, I've added the PS4 as a static address, and have configured geo-filter as recommended. Every hour or so, it kicks me offline saying "lan cable not connected". I've tried on wifi and it does the same thing, kicks me out of online games. This is making destiny 2 absolutely unplayable for me. I've used an apple airport for years and it never gave me any issues. These issues only started after I set up this new router.
  14. How about give us an option to where we can change the username Login instead of using "admin" Like to whatever we want the username to be, that would be a nice option. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
  15. I know you all just came out with VPN Hybrid which is WAY Better than Asus VPN Fusion By a LONG SHOT! =D I'm just hoping that you add features other that just the OpenVPN TCP or UDP and more than just PureVPN and HideMyAss VPN Providers ๐Ÿ˜ƒ I think what would be even more WAY Cooler is to add the Point โ€“ to โ€“ Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP), Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol (L2TP) , Internet Protocol Security or IPSec, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and Transport Layer Security (TLS), Secure Shell (SSH) Functions, Etc. And if anyone agrees with respond below saying that you agree, let's let NetDuma see that we want these Features, even if it's not all of them are not possible the more feedback they get the more chances of having that particular feature implemented ๐Ÿ˜, I feel like it can be done ๐Ÿ˜ƒ Hopefully the creator's of this awesome software can implement this into to Future Releases.๐Ÿ˜Ž
  16. Did some Ping Plotter tests to find out how bad my Verizon Fios G1100 router's packet loss was and found that it didn't have any. I actually found out that my XR700 had packet loss. I know you shouldn't test over wifi but, I've been having issues with my URC remote control dropping its connection all the time. So I did some troubleshooting to see if I could improve my wifi signal. So I started testing both of my routers through wifi and here are the results. Can someone tell me why I should keep the XR700? I can't see keeping a product that has one problem after the next. I already have plenty of problems and don't need more.
  17. Is it possible to bring back Profiles for DumaOS like we had in the original R1 firmware?
  18. I know that Netgear and Asus will show the router temperatures on their firmwares, while some even include fan controls. It would be great if we could have those same temperature indications and fan controls added to DumaOS.
  19. Just to let those in the UK that wish to Pre-Order the XR700 in the UK Amazon are now taking Pre-Orders. Bit out of a lot of peoples price range but I found it's built-in plex server to be a god-send. ยฃ449.00. https://smile.amazon.co.uk/NETGEAR-XR700-100EUS-Nighthawk-Gaming-Router/dp/B07GZ138X8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1538199103&sr=8-1&keywords=XR700
  20. I would take a big guess why the new firmware upgrade for the XR500 (VPN, ping assist...) is not (and will not be) available yet. With the new XR700 coming soon I think and it's entirely up to me that you don't have the permission to release it before launch of the new router. I say that because on the advertising they mention the new VPN feature as you can see on the image I took on Amazon. So it make sense that you release this firmware after October 19th and we have to wait more than 1 month again without any beta testing. If I'm right I d'ont understand why you're not telling us the whole story and if I'm wrong I would love to upgrade to the XR700 ๐Ÿ™‚
