  1. Hi. I have noticed a bug in the dumaos/netgear firmware. When connecting to P.I.A via their wondows application as there is no current option to use them on the XR500 I have noticed that the router cannot be accessed by the routerlogin.net address only via 192.168.1.1. I cannot work out why this would be and why being connected to a vpn would stop access to routerlogin.net. I have added a sceenshot of the page that appears if I use routerlogin.net B.D
  2. Hi, So today i changed over ISP's to BT and unfortunately im having issues gaining my full speeds. Whilst setting up i entered the PPPoE username and password provided by BT which is generic. Once i set up the credentials the XR500 done a speedtest and it detected that i was getting 73 down and 17 up. Now here's the catch, whilst performing a wired speedtest with nothing else conencted to my network im getting a rather large fluctuation on my download between 40/70Mb and im only getting 0.6Mb up!! Ive changed the IGMP proxy setting to support BT but it hardly had any effect to my speeds. When testing directly to the modem (HG612) I manage to get the full speeds a stated above. Ive re-boot the router numerous times but to no avail. Am I missing something simple here?? Regards,
  3. Hi, As I check the logs I see that the router is way off, I couldn't find where to set the date/time, so any help is appreciated. thanks

  5. Hi, moved from the R1 to the XR500 approx 1wk ago and all great so far! My firmware is on 2.1.0.4. the latest on Netgears Support site is 2.1.0.6. Under Settings/Administration/Firmware Update, on the GUI there is a button to 'Check for new version from the internet' but it comes back with 'No new firmware version available'. The Release notes for 2.1.0.6 state stability fixes. Should I upgrade manually? Is there a reason the built in firmware checker comes back with nothing available? Also, there was Firmware V2.2.0.4 live on Netgears site but this has been pulled? Do you know why? Regards
  6. Hello, I have the new Netgear XR500 DumaOS powered router having upgrded from a Netduma R1. The unit has had problems since day one and intially refused to establish a internet connection to my ISP with the setup wizard failing everytime. Instead I connected my XR500 to my Netgear DM200 modem in routrer mode. Not wishing to be defeated I tried again to get the XR500 connected directly. This time I set the VLAN tag my ISP requires (101) in Adavanced option, then I went back to Internet settings and tried again. Success, the XR500 connected. For a few days all was well but the the host filtering stopped working for one of my connected devices. Fraser at Netduma assisted but could not resolve so I restarted the XR500. Since then the XR500 refuses to connect to my ISP. I have tried hard resseting the device and going through all the steps I followed previously to no avail. If I swap my DM200 back into modem/router mode it works fine with all the same settings. If I swap an old Zyxcel router with Vigor modem everything works fine also. I'm with IDNET in the UK who require a VLAN ID tag of 101 but nothing else especially different in their set-up. Can anyone help?

  8. So, I'm in the market for a new router for multiple reasons. My current setup is with our verizon fios gigabit ethernet. My brother and myself both have ps4 and XB1 and to a much lesser extent, occasionally we'll dabble in some pc gaming. The biggest issue seems to be that when he's playing a fighting game on ps4, or I'm playing a title on XB1, any and all wifi connections (particularly from my father's cell) or the addition of any streaming (youtube, twitch, netflix) just destroys the gaming experience on either console, causing extreme frustration. Aside from that, certain times of the day, the connection can be extremely volatile for no apparent reason, and it's not always the hours you'd expect, leading us to look around to see if someone's using wifi or streaming services, finding nothing, and sometimes scratching our heads. I've read up on NetDuma and I'm confident buying the R1 would help immensely. In fact, I had all but made up my mind right before reading about the deal between Netgear and Netduma to bring the DumaOS to the XR500. I've done a little research, but I've had a hard time finding information differentiating the two hardware wise. If anyone could point me to a comparison website or give me information about the differences or potential advantages of one over the other, it would GREATLY be appreciated. Personal anecdotes and opinions as to which is better suited for my needs would be appreciated. We both use ethernet cables to directly connect from the router we have now to our consoles. As I stated, I'm mainly a console gamer, and spend most of my hours playing NHL 18, or various other sports titles, with some shooters (pubG on xb1, battlefield, cod, battlefront) mixed in on occasion. My brother is more of a ps4 fighting game fan, playing Dragonball FighterZ most recently, as well as Marvel, Street Fighter, and Injustice/Mortal Kombat religiously. So, anyone with an informed opinion, please weigh in and tell me why one would be a better choice than the other. At first glance, I feel like since they will have the same OS in April, the newer router with the newer hardware seemingly has an advantage, but, that's just a guess really, I haven't seen much about the specifications, nor do I know what measurable metrics would be most important for two console gamers looking to prioritize gaming traffic. Any help for a clueless gamer would go a long way since it's not often I have this kind of money to spend on my gaming hobby, and to make the incorrect choice would be a real bummer. It doesn't seem to be good business necessarily for NetDuma to state outright that Netgear's router is flat out better (despite the price difference), but the added cost makes me think that it may in fact be so, if not the age of the R1. Still, that's just an assumption based on those two factors, without proof, so any real tangible information or anecdotal experiences that someone could share would help. Thanks in advance!

  13. Is there anyone who has the best setting for PUBG on their new XR500? I play on console and no matter what settings I adjust and try, I keep getting network lag dectecion mid gameplay! Help please
  14. Hi all. Initially I was pissed as there was no info on the UK release of the Nighthawk and it was US release only (for the moment) and with Netduma being a UK software company I was frustrated. This was due partly to april being a 17 month period since Netduma posted a tweet of the DumaOS also personally I am losing my eyesight and have been forced to take early retirement and voluntary redundancy so my frustration came out yesterday. Netduma are a fantastic company and I have huge respect for them and also the moderators on here and everyone in the forum who helps each other. So let's all stop whining about having to wait til April 17th/18th for the DumaOS........at the end of the day you are getting a completely new OS and not an update of the current firmware FOR FREE!!!!!!!!! So let's all stop whining, have a group hug and look forward to DumaOS as it will be amazing!!!!!!!!! B.D
