  1. Hey guys, I've been lurking on these forums for a while now though this is only the second time I've posted. Let me start by saying thank you to anyone and everyone whom takes the time to read this, even if you don't know what to make of it, or haven't a piece of helpful information to put forward. Let me also say I have learned so much about networking and technology over the last 3 years searching for a resolution to my problem, and for that I am thankful because I truly am passionate about technology and learning about the underlying mechanics that drive it and even allow it to operate. But with that said, I should have come here sooner looking for help but I'm stubborn and tend to be impatient, and posting in a forum to wait forever for a response seems unattractive as I have had not great experiences with posting on forums in general and receiving help. I'm also autistic and tend to be more of an introverted recluse, so asking for help isn't something that comes easy for me. A brief foot note I'll add in an effort to be as through and helpful as possible. My services are internet only 300/300 symmetrical. Provider of course being Frontier. Network topology is very simple which is as follows, Alcatel Lucent i-211m-l ONT - Nighthawk XR500 - LAN. I've gone down the list of simple common sense troubleshooting recommendations you'd expect from anyone with even the slightest inkling into networking such as, eliminating the possibility of a bad Ethernet cable, running ping plotters to check for oddities in line activity, even doing line quality checks at dslreports.com, and to no avail. From all that I can tell with ping plotter line quality appears great as you'd expect on a fiber optic connection. I can share results of dslreports line quality test or ping plotter if requested, but again no indication as far as I can tell that anything is a miss. One thing I will say though that strikes me as odd, and having read extensively on NAT, especially enjoying the comprehensive and meticulously written article Badmodems has on the subject. Full Cone, Partial Cone, and Port Restricted NAT being the most common ways NAT is implemented, it confuses me that when I forward a port to say my phone to check if it's actually being opened, then do a port scan from say canuseeme, sometimes I get a LAN access from remote in the logs indicating to me that a connection to said port was at least attempted, sometimes I don't, but it never says on the other end that it was successful. It either always says connection timed out, or port closed. Even with NAT Filtering set to open. Which bothers me more than a little. I've also read a little about Teredo regarding Xbox and how Microsoft handles NAT and the implications of needing players to have the ability to connect to one another. I definitely have a few questions regarding that and possibly what Sony's version of Teredo is. My problem has followed me across two ISP's and two routers for three years now. First with spectrum using a Nighthawk R7000, and a Arris Surfboard cable modem I purchased to entirely eliminate ISP equipment from the equation. Now with Frontier Fios, an Nighthawk XR500 and a direct connection to an Alcatel-Lucent i-211m-l ONT. The common denominator being Netgear Nighthawk routers. The issue I'm experiencing is strange to say the least. Every device I own and use I experience "lag" or latency when using said device. A list of those devices includes an Xbox one X, PlayStation 4 Pro, Asus ROG Phone 2, Razer Phone 2, Dell Laptop, and many more I won't arbitrarily list. Suffice it to say it's anything and everything I use. Alongside a very high latency when using any of these devices is a strange phenomenon, where I feel like things on the screen are almost warping and changing size, almost the way say a scaling feature would work. And with that also comes this odd two dimensional quality everything from games to YouTube videos exhibit. To elaborate on that a little more, as a for instance when I am not experiencing the issue (which is very rare) things look amazing in games, be it on my ROG phone 2 playing PUBG Mobile, or on my PlayStation 4 Pro playing Call of Duty. It's like the textures are so alive with depth and detail and the colours appear so much more vibrant, intricate, and present. Strangely enough, I would describe the issue I have with audio in a very similar manner, where all the detail and nuance is gone. I can't hear enemy players in things like PUBG Mobile or Call of Duty for the life of me (literally lol) until it's too late or I'm dead. Sensitivity in games is also very inconsistent, and never feels the same. Whether it's the touch screen of my phone, keyboard and mouse, or a controller. YouTube videos appear pixilated and blurry almost, lacking in visual and audible information. Players in games like Blackout and PUBG Mobile are very difficult for me to spot. And distances are very difficult to gauge, where it seems like things on the map, be it players or objects, appear farther away than they should be. Things like my wingsuit in Blackout are consistently pixelated and fail to properly render in. And lighting and shadows are also very strange with things appearing darker than they should be sometimes, like shaded areas and inside of buildings. Sometimes I'll walk into a structure for instance, like long barn in Blackout right beside red barn, by wagers and silo and it will be dark and oddly lit and suddenly the lighting will change where I can see and it's lit up the way it should be. There are other oddities such as haptic feedback being horribly inconsistent across the board on every Android device I've owned in the last three years. And typing feels very slow and tedious, with what I would also describe as a "lag" or latency regarding the input of characters and haptic response to hitting a key. Again, when things are working properly the small percentile of the time they do, this is not the case and everything feels so responsive and it's effortless to type things out. And on a $1000.00usd phone sporting a Snapdragon 855+ , Adreno 640 GPU, Cortex A-76 architecture, and a prime core clock speed of 2,960 MHz, I would hope the very least I should expect to be a responsive keyboard lol ;D. Anyway I've rambled long enough, and apologize for being long winded. To anyone who reads this, let me thank you once again for doing so regardless of whether you have some helpful piece of wisdom to offer or not. I'm at my wit's end with this issue and it's causing me to go to some very dark places psychologically, so any help is most certainly appreciated. Again from the bottom of my heart, thank you.
  2. im having issues with geofilter when i turn it on and set everything it also blocks the voice chat in certain countries i set this im getting pretty annoyed this happens on psn ps4
  3. Is there anything special I need to do or is it just plug and play straight out of the box? Also why does the xr500 lag on my the phones connected to it? I also get more lag and huge lag spikes with this router than my old wndr3400v2? I assuming I may have done something wrong durring the install?
  4. Hey all, Owner of a brand new XR500 here. Unfortunately upon testing with some gaming tonight, my XR500 (on the latest available firmware) appears to be exhibiting the dreaded "internet drops out for 5 seconds then comes back" issue. I've attached a log from the router in case anyone knows what might be causing it. Client is a W10 desktop wired to a dumb-switch which the XR500 goes through to talk to other devices. I'd prefer not to have to put a smart switch in as a replacement. Does anyone have any ideas? My partner also works from home via a VPN and requires a constant connection, so if I'm unable to fix this then it'll mean, sadly, I have to return the XR500. Thank you in advance. log.txt
  5. hey all, recetntly, my geo filter didnt work. It didnt show any servers or players on my map. After i rebooted it, it was fixed. It worked regularly. However now, when I play with friends, i get extreme lag spikes all of the sudden (my friends live inside of the geofilter radius) here how my gaming experience looks like: Alone I have no issues: but with my friends its unplayable... how can I fix that? also question on the map: why do i get connected to a server in ireland when that is clearly not inside the radius...? When I click on the tab down right it takes forever to load 😕 and when I try to flush the cloud it says "this action takes longer than usual". But my ISP says there is nothing from with my connection, and theyre right, on my phone etc. there are no issues Thanks in advance!
  6. Hey all, I have severe connection issues with modern warfare (and ps4) and I hope you can help me. First Problem: PS4 Party Chat It is really difficult creating a party where I can talk to my friends. The geofilter blocks them for some reason. Even when I whitelist them, it takes at least 8 times rejoining until i can talk to them (they also live inside the radius). Is there a fix to this? Second Problem: Extreme Lag (Despite using Ping Assist) At first only 1 out of 10 games were extremely laggy, but now almost every game is very very laggy, it looks like this: I have set a Geofilter radius around me. And even set a Ping assist, but lobbies like this happen way too often. Sometimes, the game starts regularly, and after 1 min it goes downhill. Especially when I connect to the server in Italy I always get a laggy game. I think this might be a mislocated server (wish I could give you the ID of it, but when I click on it the tab down right loads for ever) Also: Why do server sometimes show up as a server icon and sometimes as a Peer Icon? Third Problem: Mislocated Servers / Another Geofilter Problem? Sometimes I get connected to a server outside my radius as seen here: Once I got connected to a Server in Paris, and once in the South of England. (The one in Paris i got connected with a ping assist of 40. the one in england my ping assist was at 0). Mislocated servers as well? I never whitelisted them. Fourth Problem: Mini Lags / Package loss In games where I dont lag all over the place (rare at the moment...) I have always package loss or mini lags as seen here: Package loss indicator on the left. Right now I cant really tell if the lobby I am in i am getting the best connection possible. Either Mini lags or complete disconnect. I play on a wired connection. Alright this was a little much input sorry. But I just want it to work again like in the beginning where I got my XR500 (October 30). Everything worked perfectly then. I got a perfect lobby every time, never had lag or connection loss, my shots connected and no PS4 Party connection issues. I just don't know what happened that it doesnt work like that anymore.   7. Hi all, I seem to have issues with the geofilter on my XR500. I live in Germany. When I bought the XR500 I set my radius on around 450 KM around me to connect to the 2 closest Modern Warfare servers (taken from the dumaOS Modern Warfare Servers). At the beginning, it worked perfectly. It took a little bit longer to find a game, but when I did the connection was amazing! Now, since some days, I find games extremely quick and play against people from spain for example, who clearly had a connection advantage (so I guess the server was closer to them, outside of my radius) So I did a test: I shrunk the circle to the minimum (100KM), in this radius there are only villages around my city, and non of the servers are in the radius. According to the radius, I shouldn't find any games. But then I searched for a game and found one immediately, playing against spanish and french people (I live in east germany). Does anyone know why it suddenly stopped to filter? Hope someone can help me! Thanks in advance!

Second issue is when I control my yeelight I can't control my Homepod and Apple TV. I already try remove and readd accessories, disable IGMP, restart my devices and the XR500, use statics IP and disable SIP ALG.
  9. Guys I need your help.. Always after a reboot i cant manage me XR500 to get internet.. And this time is the worst ever.. For 1 hour now am trying to make it work but this is impossible... I tried Multiple reboots Unplug cables Unplug power core Reboot of modem The only thing i didnt try its factory reset because i don't want to loose my settings and saved devices... Any idea please?
  10. TO WHOM MAY HELP: I've had this XR500 Router for a year now and its given me nothing but problems, and anywhere that i search im told its the Firmware. My most current issue is that When im playing games, or even just streaming something, on my hardwired devices, they keep briefly disconnecting. Currently i'm playing the new call of duty and every 1/5 games it disconnects me from Xbox Live and says you need an active internet connection.

Zur Verfügung steht: Internet von Vodafon mit 200Mbit/s via Kabelanschluss Als Modem mit Router läuft eine Fritz!Box 6490 Cable mit FritzOs ver. 7.0 Die Fritz!Box hat sowohl einen IPv4 als auch einen IPv6 zugang gleichzeitig. Zu meinen Fragen: Ist ein grundsätzlicher Betrieb überhaubt möglich um die Funktionen des XR500 zu nutzen ? Da AVM scheinbar keinen Bridge Modus mehr zulässt, reicht es dem XR500, wenn er innerhalb der Fritz!Box einen Exposed Host Zugang bekommt ? Vielen Dank und liebe Grüße ! :)
  12. Hello, I've been noticing everyday at 1:44 PM that my Computers internet will cut out for a split second and then reconnect. I was trying to figure out for awhile what was causing this and in my routers logs, I see that the DHCP lease renewal is happening at that same exact time each day. The big issue with that is that I have a job and work during the time this keeps occurring and it cuts me off of my work software and any calls that I am currently on. I also noticed a few errors before it happens, not sure if they are related to why I am cutting out or not. I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to change the timing on the lease change, without having to manually be on to do it. I'd like to try to set it for something like 4AM in the morning, so that way it won't interfere with anything going on from 7AM - 1AM. I just bought my XR500 last week and noticed this happening right away, but thought it was something else going on. I tried calling support today and they told me the DHCP lease change should not be cutting my internet and didn't really do much to help, was told I was getting a callback in 30 minutes and have gotten none in the past hour, so any help is appreciated. Edit: I also noticed another weird issue looking over my logs again. It seems like one of my IP's seems to not renew correctly. Not sure what is going on there, but the device is a PLW1000. Hello Dumaos army, I have the Netgear XR500 since one and a half year, and it's working great and as expected. but lately I am having a bug in reading the ping, whatever server I connect to, it show maximum 5ms. It is just a reading bug because my ping assist is at 55 ms and it usually connect me to same servers that I used to be connected to, before this bug. Knowing that I am in the middle east and I usually connect to European servers and sometimes the US servers. I have tried everything from hard reset to downgrade my firmware and then upgrade but to no avail. I am currently on V2.3.2.56 and I only play call of duty. What could be causing this, and is there any remedy to it? Thanks,
  14. Ive had the router for 4 days now and after 3rd day the settings page has gone blank. Edit: it seems like adblock is too op and breaks the settings page. Going incognito mode fixed it.
  15. Hello, I love the Device Manager on XR500 but I have a couple of issues with it – nothing major, just minor irritations. Q1. In my XR500 Device Manager, I have: Router >> WAN >> Modem Surely this should be: Router >> Modem >> WAN? Am I missing something obvious here, or is this an error? Q2. I have a Nighthawk X4S D7800 router configured as a wireless bridge in the spare bedroom. The connection to the bridge is rock solid and all devices connected to it are accessible through the XR500. I can ping the devices and use them as though they were connected directly to the XR500. However, even though they are accessible, they all appear offline in the XR500 Device Manager. Is there any way to make these accurately show up as being online? Thank you. P.S. In this image, Sonoff RF, PA - Living Room, PA - Kitchen are actually offline but NVR, Cam2, Desktop-Server and MyCloudPR2100 are all online and pingable. For this tree view to be accurate, they would branch out from the Nighthawk X in the 5GHz devices.
  16. Hello, SHORT VERSION: My Plex media server device is connected to my XR500 router via a 5GHz wireless extender. How do I configure QoS on the XR500 to guarantee an upload bandwidth of 8Mbps for Plex? Do I ‘Set Device Bandwidth’ to 8Mbps for both the Wi-Fi extender and the Plex media server, or just one of the devices? LONG VERSION: I have a Plex media server running on a My Cloud PR2100 in my spare bedroom. It’s connected to my XR500 router via a Netgear EX6150v2 5GHz Wi-Fi extender and all works flawlessly! The exact configuration is: WD My Cloud PR2100 <<->> NETGEAR GS308 Switch <<->> NETGEAR EX6150v2 Wi-Fi extender <<->> NETGEAR XR500 Router The Wi-Fi extender and Switch are connected via 1Gbps ethernet. In the XR500 Device Manager, the Wi-Fi extender shows as being connected to my 5GHz wireless network but the My Cloud PR2100 (and all other devices connected to the switch) show as being offline, even though they are not. Anyway, as with the 'short version' above, do I ‘Set Device Bandwidth’ to 8Mbps for both the Wi-Fi extender and the Plex media server, or just one of the devices? My connection speed is 60Mbps down / 15Mbps up. Any other info or screenshots I will gladly provide if needed. Thank you.
  17. Hola, Soy dueño de un R1 desde hace mas de 3 años y hace poco compre el XR500. Desde que lo tengo, estoy presentando problemas en mi computadora para poder trabajar. Cuando hago las pruebas de velocidad todo parece estar bien, pero en seguida me conecto a Citrix, para poder trabajar, el sistema presenta lentitud y tiene desconecciones. Es casi imposible trabajar con ese wifi. Tengo que poner el hotspot del telefono para poder tener mejor conexion. Esto es algo que no me pasaba ni me pasa con el R1, que aun tengo. Tengo mas de 90% de señal a la PC. El router esta en el mismo lugar que estaba el R1, cambié el Preamble a "Long", he puesto la coneccion de 2.4 y la de 5g separadas, he apagado la señal de 5g, he conectado un repetidor con capacidad de 2.4/5g y aun asi siguo con problemas de estabilidad y lentitud. Me gustaria saber como puedo configurar el WIFI del XR500 para que funcione igual al del R1?
  18. I had installed private internet access “PIA” with a laptop months ago. For whatever reason connection fails now. I don’t have no computer at the moment but I’m on iPhone. I can go to hybrid vpn section advanced enter username and password but can’t paste the pia openvpn configuration file. Has anyone ever setup hybrid vpn through iPhone????

  20. To use LAN resources away from home I have setup the VPN service which sets the xr500 as the vpn server. My mobile is a client using openvpn software. I am able to connect away from home. my devices are set on the subnet 192.168.2.0 What server or client app settings need I change to access 192.168.1.0 which is the default xr500 subnet. As is when as a friends house 192.168.1.1 from my openvpn connected android loads his router credential prompt. I have it set for LAN and internet access. I can access the internet connected.   21. I did firmware update couple days ago and then did a factory reset. Set everything back to how it was, ping assist 25ms flush cloud, upnp adjusted, qos setup, open nat, everything seemed fine playing MP getting 10ms servers almost instantly. But in blackout can’t get a match for 5-10mins or longer and when I do get one it’s easy coast. I live in southern Cali and connecting to servers east coast with 60-90ms ping. Need help.

  23. ***June 2019 - I Upgraded my XR500 to a XR700 | The result is the same on the WAN Port I get a Disconnected from LAN on my PS4 Pro*** I recently purchased a Netgear Nighthawk Pro Gaming XR500 to see if it can handle my new internet gigabit speed because my old Netduma R1 was not able to go above 230mbit/s with QoS and 500mbit/s without QoS. The good news, I can reach the gigabit speed with or without QoS but I still get a Disconnected from LAN while I'm playing Street Fighter V Arcade Edition on my PS4 Pro. My XR500 is on the firmware V2.3.240 and I continue to get the same issue that I started a topic for the Disconnected from LAN on the Netduma R1with DumaOS Development Milestone 1.3: forum.netduma.com/topic/27085-disconnected-from-lan/ Could you please have a look on the log file to see if this could be the same issue that occur in the DumaOS Development Milestone 1.3? EDIT: I forgot to mention this is on the XR500 router I have been having problems with parts of the DumaOS menus not loading/partially loading or loading and then saying that I am not connected to the router when I am still on the internet. It happens randomly throughout the menus but seems to happen 99% of the time when trying to go to the geo-filter menu or when having the geo-filter setting pinned to the dashboard. I have attached a screenshot of the error that appears and the geo-filter settings do not load at all when this happens. Other times the whole dashboard itself will not load properly and it will give a popup error message saying "script error" I have tried contacting net gear support that went through all the troubleshooting steps they suggest as well as trying multiple factory resets, reflashing firmware, downgrading to a previous firmware, trying to restore setting from a previous back up, all with no result of solving the issue. I am not sure if there is some sort of glitch causing possible damage to the router but I noticed that I only ever started to have these problem after trying to signup for the hybrid VPN service, PureVPN, through the VPN settings page and putting the settings in the router directly for the PureVPN account. I was later told by their support that putting the settings directly into the router is not working with no ETA on a fix and that I should use their app in the meantime. After factory reseting the router and removing their app completely from all devices the setting for their VPN are no longer in the router but I still run into the same issues. Not sure if it is linked to trying to use the Hybrid VPN service but I just thought I should mention the problems happened immediately after trying to do so. I really hope this is something that can be fixed via a hot fix or firmware update as I have not even owned the router for 2 months now and it would be a shame for it to become unusable because of this issue. I look forward to hearing back from you about possible fixes for this issue.
