Some folks swear by this technique, I think they usually say around 40ms is the sweet spot for CoD. I guess the logic there is that it's a mid-point between the lowest and highest ping players in the lobby.
I myself don't really subscribe to that idea, but give it a try!

I don't think it affects your devices per-se, but rather it opens you up to security risks. Now in my opinion those security risks are hardly worth worrying about, since local network hacks are extremely rare and almost always targeted. I'd do some research before you go ahead and do it though - I'm by no means the authority on network security.
It shouldn't create any performance issues if you open those ports, if you have UPnP disabled.

On top of what DAKOTADOCKALL said above, this drop in speeds could be due to peak times. When did you run this speed test?
Ultimately it seems like your R1 is reaching its limit in one way or another. How old are both of your R1's? After a time, almost all routers will start to achieve less throughput compared to when you first bought it. The R1 is old hardware, so it's even more the case.

Yeh that sounds correct. Choopa is a dedicated server I believe.
We're actually looking into ways to automate our dedicated server detection, since at the moment we have to manually go through and classify dedicated servers. This should get more streamlined further down the road, but for now I'd ignore that categorisation. I reckon everything in screenshot 1 is a server, they look like they're in the right place for that to be true.

Welcome to the forum  Big Dog has some great suggestions above. I would first try setting static IP's for the affected devices. If it's still occurring, switch out your LAN cables. You should also make 100% sure the drop-out isn't further upstream by connecting your devices to your Modem and seeing if a drop-out occurs.

Ok all went well. I ran this setup from Friday until today.   However I think I'm better off having the R1 as my main and just use my other router as an access point for wifi and deal with those issues I was having with wifi as they come up.
The anti bufferbloat and device management on the R1 is more reliable than WRT setup I was using.

    Thanks again for help.

    Hi.
Most of the ISP's in your country allow you to use your own modem and stop using theirs, this would stop these restrictions as the ports are being blocked by their issued modem. I am not sure if COX allows this, but I am almost certain they do. I suggest you go to amazon and buy a good quality modem that is compatible with your isp and swap them over. If this fails you can returm your modem to amazon for a full refund. If this works then you can return your coz modem and cancel any extra charge they put on your bill for hiring their equipment.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I have moved this post to the correct section of this forum as the 1 on 1 support help is by invite only by Netduma.

Your problem sounds like it maybe a misconfigured router or a possible ip address clash. I would suggest setting your console a static ip address which does not conflict with any other devices on your network. It is also possibly a line fault where your modem is losing connection, a fault lan cable. All these could point to the issue you are having and its a tough cookie to crack as it is a very slow process of elimination.

    Is Singapore the authentication server?

There's a very handy form for reporting any server you think is not located properly which can get corrected when there is a cloud update:

I've had a chat with our lead test engineer - he's confirmed that he's aware of this issue, though there are other pressing bugs he's been working through. All this information will really help our devs in fixing the issue, so I can't thank you enough! I'll raise it internally to make sure it's getting attention.

I'm going to see if we can investigate this issue with High Priority getting stuck - we'll test it with Apex and Destiny 2 for good measure. It's possible that the issue is graphical but I can't really speculate until we take a look.
Could you guys confirm whether this persists when you hard refresh the page (F5)? Also @Zippy, could you let us know which game this happened to you on? If anyone has experienced this while playing another game let us know.
If any of you guys have added your own rules to Traffic Prio, please let us know that as well. The more information we have, the faster we'll be able to get to the bottom of it!

So i finally figured it out after i had to factory reset my phone.

When i did this i started getting no internet at all for my phone , even after a delay. I set everything to static and hard set my dns to google.
After i did this i had internet instantly.
After a bit of fiddling i figured out it is indeed my PiHole acting up(seems like my new ISPs way of doing stuff puts off my pihole, as before it had no problem). I am very sorry for wasting your time, you very correct from the beginning.

All i had to do was set my dns to a set one other than pihole on the phone AND flush my internet settings (seems like the pihole dns was getting cached so just changing without flushing didnt help, thats why i didnt notice. It stucks even through phone resets).

Thank you so much and sorry i wasted your time.

@Netduma Fraser so after giving what bert said a shot, it's worked... after reset and auto setup then just adding my own dns there are no issues. Really clueless as to what the issue was but I really appreciate everyone's help. Wouldn't have even known where to start looking. Again thank you everyone.

If it failed the update and speedtest, did it finish the set up wizard?

On my first XR500, I simply skipped the wizard and set it up manually, and that didn't work for me. I needed to go through the wizard the first time in order for it to work somehow. I had all the settings right but since it didn't finish the process it failed to connect to internet.

    What you could try:
    1. Reset the XR500 to factory specs
    2. Connect Modem -> Your old router WAN -> XR500 WAN.
    3. Let the wizard run and do auto setup, let it update the firmware, enter speeds etc
    4. Remove the router in between and set PPPOE details, then you should be set to go.

/Edit: Nevermind, I see you had it going already
