RobReapz got a reaction from Soloflyerz in Game server ping survey
I am curious to know peoples online gaming experiences mostly for call of duty games past and present. I would like to know when the game is playing well and the connection feels great and when the game play feels more consistent what are your pings to the game servers?  The more people that reply to this the better. Which game and a rough ping is adequate, Thanks.

Try it on nuketown domination, you can sometimes get to the enemy spawn flag before they capture it and you can mow the whole team down lol

Personally i would purchase a dedicated modem not an all in one. Cant go wrong with the BT openreach modems they are solid. If its Huawei you need get the HG612 (3B version), plenty on Ebay.

Lower ping made me have a worse connection in BO3. I had better games on mid-west servers with 40-50ms ping.

Yeh is possible just connect the netdumas WAN port (port1) to one of the asus's LAN ports. You will need to give the netduma a static ip in the Raptures DHCP settings. You may need to use DMZ as well however i dont use it and get no NAT issues, you need to enable upnp forwarding in the misc settings of the netduma though. (I have similar setup using asus router) You then need to prioritise the netdumas traffic in the raptures QOS settings. Also turn off the wifi on the netduma if your not using it. This is the best you can do with this setup but note you will not be utilising 100% of netdumas QOS features so its not going to be your ideal setup.

They go to all mods and admins, they are all my supervisors - I'm the coffee boy.

Imagine the future when everyone has good stable internet with superfast pings and the matchmaking/compensation systems have it easy.
It should happen one day, just before the sun implodes and we get actually get melted. There's no sponging that.

Not sure why you removed the first part as in no way was it offensive, it was purely factual. In future i shall make use of the report button, who looks at these reports out of interest? please dont say yourself lol in which case i would like to speak to your supervisor  .

If everybody had a 'fair' experience then skill would become the overriding factor of how well someone does not how good their 'cod' connection is and as we all know for cod connection is the biggest weapon.

Lets be honest the majority of people on here prob wont have tried these settings as everyone seems to be aiming for the A+ bufferbloat settings and for some people that works but if it doesnt you need to think outside the box especially for cod games. This is also not aimed or for the camper type player or newbie who gets under 15 kills a game etc as it is unlikely they have the skill set to be able to tell the subtle differences the bandwidth changes make to their gameplay.

There are loads of ways of optimising the congestion control but this is how i would start for cod games. Firstly set the highest CC slider settings that give you the best bufferbloat results for your network. Then you need to untick share excess only on the upload device prio flower and give your console a value so that its get approx 1mb upload, you may have to adjust your upload slider down if you have high speeds (more than 100mb upload). Then plays some games, if you are still feeling behind then you need to keep lowering the consoles upload device number until it feels better. you might have to go all the way down to 100kb lol. If you start rubberbanding and lagging tho your upload is to low. You also need to try these settings with pre-emptive and then reactive to see which plays better for you. Do not worry about your bufferbloat tests as they are irrelevant at this stage, its all about how the game plays and feels. I have had great games with a BB F rating lol.

This is just the first step really and not a guaranteed fix. If you are still struggling you maybe want to look at gaming with a VPN so that you can increase your latency. I am currently testing this out and the results are pretty promising. (I would only recommend this for people with good clean lines with no issues though). Again you could spend hours tweaking but unfortunately cod is still cod, a completely bullshit randomised FPS.

When i say settings i predominately mean the congestion control sliders and or the bandwidth allocation for your console, nothing else really.

I wasnt even looking at how kevo was playing or if he was making mistakes etc its not about that, Its all about how the enemy bullets affect your character model and its very subtle and hard to pick up on, especially if thats all your use to. I like stealth01 have pretty decent stats and can tell from the first gunfight i get into whether or not the lag comp is against me for said match and all to often for me anyway i find i am at a disadvantage for the majority of my games. Put me and stealth01 on LAN and we would shit on the vast majority of youtubers

I feel your pain kevo, enemies having instant aim assist hit detection on you and dealing double damage it feels like. What is your ping to the server? Oh and CB if you think thats normal you've got your settings wrong lol, it can play a hell of alot better.

Obviously the major selling point of the R1 is the unique geofilter. It's a brilliant feature that allows you to find the lowest latency games possible, which in FPS games in particular should be the most important tool in helping overcome one of the biggest problems with multiplayer gaming - matchmaking. Ping assist takes the control you have with the radius feature even further. However I've noticed that getting the absolute lowest latency games possible isn't always the best approach, unless you live far enough away from a server that the lowest latency game you can find has you in the sweet spot.

Many people I watch playing recent titles - IW in particular - have perfectly smooth gameplay on something like 40ms latency, even if they're on some jittery line or dropping packets. Every bullet registers instantly regardless. You've probably seen a lot of my complaining on the forum this year about connecting to my local IW server (UK) on 7ms latency and seeing awful connections thanks to audibly delayed hitmarkers or none at all, jerky aim assist, being visibly behind the action and so on. In IW I've noticed the UK server acts like a matchmaking black hole and if I turn off my geofilter, or just set it up to find the lowest latency games possible, 90% of the time it'll be on 7ms, while everyone from here to Dubai also connects to it. I've wanted to test higher latency games but the only servers I can connect to with reliably are in the UK, Netherlands, France and New Jersey in the US; the former three all offer under 14ms connections - not ideal for my testing - while the latter gives me a perfectly respectable but obviously not ideal 75ms. The Danish, Polish and Russian servers offer 30-50ms which is the ideal range for testing not overly excessive latency, but because of their proximity to the German/Dutch servers it's hard to use the radius feature to connect to them without avoiding those low latency games.

In short, my idea is that Duma OS allows us to not only request games under a certain latency threshold, as the ping assist feature allows us to do so well, but to set a range with a lower and upper limit. This would allow us a greater degree of control over matchmaking, further increasing the appeal of the R1 for serious gamers while also improving our experience in games.

I know many of you probably feel like it'd be too niche a feature, especially if you have no issues finding smooth games with how the geofilter works currently, but if you know how miserably IW and even WW2 have played on under half a frame of latency you have likely given up on playing or have tried server hopping yourself.

Let me know your thoughts. I hope this isn't an unreasonable request as I have no knowledge whatsoever regarding the work that goes into making these kinds of features possible
