KindaBusted reacted to Netduma Luke in ANNOUNCEMENT: DUMAOS 3.0 IS HERE
    Hi Everyone,
Today we are delighted to announce that signups for the DumaOS 3.0 beta are now open - this will be gradually rolled out to everyone who signs up, over time.
This is a big step. It means that after many months of hard work, we are now ready for you guys to begin testing 3.0 on your DumaOS powered routers.
    What is in DumaOS 3.0?
It’s named 3.0 for a reason. It marks the next generation of DumaOS, our router operating system. Not only will 3.0 come with a whole bunch of new features for your router, we have also overhauled a tonne of things under the hood which will make it far easier for us to get new features to you in the future.
So far, we have announced four of the eight major features coming in 3.0. You can read more about each of them here:
Geo-Fencing: draw multiple Geo-Filters of any shape around your favourite server banks Application QoS: prioritize the traffic that matters the most to you by allocating bandwidth by application type e.g. gaming, streaming etc. Connection Benchmark: run a pure test of your Internet line to find out how stable your ping is and if you are getting your full bandwidth speeds Traffic Controller: block any applications, ports or devices from accessing the Internet. Feature 5: Announcing Soon Feature 6: Announcing Soon Feature 7: Announcing Soon Feature 8: Announcing Soon Further feature reveals will be posted on our blog here: https://netduma.com/blog/

    How do I Signup?
    Netduma R1 owners - go here: https://netduma.com/dumaos-3-0-signup-for-netduma-r1/
    Nighthawk Pro Gaming users (XR300, XR450, XR500, XR700) - go here: http://www.netgearinnovation.com/dumaos-beta/index.html
When will I get the beta?
When making a major software update like 3.0, it's normal for things to not be perfect at the start. So as much as we would love each and every one of you to get your hands on 3.0 right now, it would be risky for us to do it in one go.
Instead we will be phasing the roll-out, starting off with a small number of testers. Once things are looking good, we will add some more, then more, gradually increasing until everyone who has signed up has received the upgrade.
When we are ready for you to join the beta you will get an email into your inbox with instructions on how to join. Please be patient - we will email you when we are ready.
    Finally...
We want to thank you for your support and patience during the development of 3.0. We are very aware that it has taken time. But it really has been worth it. It has allowed us to take DumaOS to the next level. Work is already underway on 3.1 and we're working on some seriously big features that will give you even more control over your lag and your network.
We hope you have fun testing 3.0.
    The ND Team

KindaBusted reacted to Netduma Luke in NEW FEATURE ANNOUNCEMENT: APPLICATION QOS
In 2014 we built QoS to reduce lag caused by devices around the home. Whether someone is watching Netflix while you're gaming or a Skype call is raising your ping, we want to let your devices coexist without congestion to give you peace of mind.
With Application QoS you can bring balance to your network by telling DumaOS exactly what matters to you. Prefer gaming to social media? With Application QoS, just give anything the bandwidth it needs across all devices at the same time - from web browsing to livestreaming.

With the ability to switch back to Device Mode at any time, Application QoS will give you a level of control never before seen on home routers.
DumaOS 3.0 is the biggest update we have ever built, effectively doubling the feature set. Application QoS is just one of many features coming to your router with DumaOS 3.0, so stay tuned for our next feature announcement.

    Hey!
This ping problem is kinda difficult to explain: A few weeks ago I encountered a big latency problem while sending text messages over WhatsApp. It took multiple seconds to send a message and almost 10 seconds for a voice message. (My connection: 60mbits down and 12 up.) I checked my ping via Speedtest.net and Fast.com: 9-10ms. I restarted the router and it was fine again. As the problem occurred a second time I checked my ping on another website (Its a German website as Im from Germany) www.wieistmeineip.de. It reported a ping of 1900ms! I restarted the router and it was back to 160ms (Speedtest was still reporting 9-10ms). This seems to be some kind of multi-server ping maybe?? Anyway, I connected the xr700 behind our DSL-modem/router and tested this kind of ping on its WiFi (5Ghz) (90-110ms) constantly. I finally managed to isolate the problem. It was the guest network I had set up. It was causing the 160ms normally and the enormous ping spikes of almost 2 seconds (reported by www.wieistmeineip.de). This affected 5Ghz aswell as 2.4Ghz when both guest networks were on. Also this kind of ping seems to be "used" in things like tweeting tweets or chatting on Discord. Do you guys know what this kind of ping is?
Anyway, this kind of ping on the xr700 seems to be on point with our modem/router now and I dont have those huge spikes anymore. Its just weird that the guest network causes this weird problems with the normal network if its just enabled and no one is on it. Btw. I get those huge ping spikes (2 seconds) with this kind of latency constantly on the guest networks.
The ping spike problem when the guest network was enabled happened after 24-30 uptime.
The website that I mentioned states that it sends 5 packets for testing.

Hey, welcome to the forum and Happy Holidays!
You will need to add them to your allow list, you can follow the above instructions or see the bottom of this guide for how to do so: http://support.netduma.com/en/support/solutions/articles/16000077072-dumaos-optimal-settings-guide-geo-filter

Make sure to have all your friends join party's with the Geofilter on Spectating.
Then you'll need to turn off auto ping and manually add all your friends to the allowed list on the router.
It's easiest to add one friend to the party then add to router & repeat for each friend.
After that you can turn filtering back on for your gaming.

KindaBusted reacted to Netduma Alex in What are cloud updates?
That's an interesting idea. We certainly have a dedicated community, so i've no doubt they could put together a custom cloud update if we gave them the tools. This is certainly something worth discussing. I imagine we could do an online tool where you can submit suggested changes, and those changes are baked into the custom cloud update every week. Perhaps a system that allows you to vote on the accuracy of suggested changes. Perhaps a trust system where users who are known to be trustworthy have their changes instantly approved...
I mean this is all just an idea right now but I like it a lot. I'll bring it up with the devs.

It would be awesome if the router's software would some how auto update or send the server's info back to the cloud. But may be that is a perfect world. lol

It may not be available when you want, the map shows all the possible servers but they may not always be available. For example they could come online during peak times etc to help carry the load. We're also doing cloud optimisations as well in order to be better compatible so it's possible it's mislocated as well for the moment.

I'm sorry about the delay on this. I've been prioritizing testing on some recent popular games such as Modern Warfare and FIFA 20. I will move Killer Instinct further up the list though. Thanks for your patience!
