Buster reacted to Netduma Fraser in Tournament in honour of A7Legit - Suggestions
As you may or may not be aware one of our dear friend's and fellow DumaArmy member A7Legit passed away recently (you can give your condolences with others here: http://forum.netduma.com/topic/22002-a7legit-passed-away/).

It was suggested that we throw a tournament in his honour. I think that is a fantastic idea. Rather than me just deciding what we should do I think that as a community we should come together and decide on how to run this tournament.

I will start out with a few ideas and provide a generic outline of things to decide on, then we can discuss them, come up with new ideas etc. I'll update this top post with the suggestions gathered and then after awhile I'll create a poll and we can vote on what we want the final tournament to look like. After that we'll do signups and finalise the plan.

    My ideas:
I don't know if A7 would have liked WW2 or not but a WW2 tournament could be nice, playing the CoD game that he was unfortunately never able to try out or possibly play one of his favourite CoDs - BO3 perhaps? Free For All Instead of a prize I think:               - A donation to his family that everyone can contribute to (sent in a massive card with short condolence messages)
                  - A donation to a charity like the British Heart Foundation (i.e. a charity that deals with the heart) that everyone can contribute to (alongside the card above saying how much we raised in his name)

    Things to decide on:
Game Gametype Rules Prize When should it take place? Anything else? Please be polite and respectful in this thread. I won't tolerate any rudeness.

    Current Suggestions:

    FFA
    Donation prize
    Early December if WW2
    October/November if BO3
WW2 may not have as many players as possible

Why is the Netduma the first thing you blame?
Did you post something similar on your ISP forums? And on the Activision forums? Or did you just save all your loveliness up for us?

If your Netduma works fine for other games then it's highly unlikely that it's responsible for your WW2 beta problems.
It could be your ISP, it could be the servers, it could be that the servers aren't where your Geo radius is set. It could be a lot of things.
In all likelihood, it'll be down to it being a multiplayer beta weekend and a holiday weekend so, like Fraser said, the servers (and connections) are getting slammed.

You haven't provided us with enough info for us to actually troubleshoot the problem.
Being frustrated at your gameplay and having poor knowledge of networking is no excuse for your post.

Commenting with the hope that this isn't true. A7 has been here from the very beginning - day 1. The DumaArmy has taken a heavy blow with this news and I think all of us here will remember A7 as a gamer through and through just like the rest of us. It was his passion. He will be widely missed on this forum & by everyone who knew him. R.I.P A7 my thoughts & love go out to his family & friends during this difficult time.

In case you haven't, Get them to join a custom lobby so it is just you and your friends, turn off show dormant hosts just for simplification. Then click the circle on the geo filter which should come up in the location of where your friend is from, name them, and slide the bar to 100 and click update.

Rinse and repeat for any other friends.

Buster reacted to ColonicBoom in Lag Compensation Problems? (not sure what this is tbh)
    You're not listening.

Although his Netduma is mitigating any lag, its not his connection that's making him win more gunfights. It's his skill.
I'm sure he has a good connection but, in terms of low ping and ping stability, I expect mine is better. And I'm pretty sure that if we played BO3 1v1 that he'd outscore me 10-1 (it could be much worse actually), he's just a lot better than me.
When you're a better player you put yourself in fewer situations where the enemy has a chance to get you. In doing this you're minimising the chance of a bullshit death. If you go into a 50/50 situation then they have as much chance to bs you as you do to bs them. If you go into a 90/10 situation in your favour then there's much less chance that they will even have time to get a shot off.

I expect that A7 gets a few messages a week saying 'good game' and a hundred times as many accusing him of cheating, aim-botting, wall-hacking and all sorts of rubbish like that. Most people can't accept that they're not as good as someone else and would rather blame anything else rather than themselves.

It's down to map awareness, map control, gun skill, reaction time, not making silly decisions in game, etc, that make him top the leaderboards so much.
When his map awareness/control fails him and someone gets the drop on him, then it's down to fast reactions and snap-decisions. I've seen one of his clips where he got surprised by an enemy (top of the stairs in the waterside room on Hunted I believe) and he jumped up into the ceiling, ran the enemy round in circles for a few seconds and then blew them away.
Being able to quickly adapt to the situation saved his killstreak and it was funny as hell too. And I bet the enemy that he killed was crying bs, blaming their own connection, and then dashboarded it because they got wrecked.

And the killcam rarely shows a realistic representation of what actually happened. For anyone. Ever.

The Duma team is in a no win situation IMO,if they release an upgrade that doesn't work and crashes everyone's network and this can and does happen when testing new FW with routers or new routers in general. It's easy to for people to say...release it and I'll take my chances but when it actually does happen and you have no internet, not just you but your whole household.Honestly how happy are you and the rest of your family gonna be if this were to happen on a daily basis ?

It would only be a matter of time before you were forced to take the Duma out of your setup, just so you could use your home network.

And if they don't release the new FW they are basically bashed, berated and treated like shit because they refuse to release a product that isn't ready for the masses. To me it seems like we're always complaining (myself included) about devs releasing games for example before they are ready.Isn't it the same thing, either it's ready to be released or it isn't, you can't really pick and choose what needs to be complete before you release it, all things should be and the DumaOS is no exception.

They are in a bad situation and there is no making everyone happy, so they are doing the right thing and making sure the new FW is stable before they release it to everyone. If you really think about it, it's just common sense. We all want the new FW but there is nothing wrong with the old firmware's it's more of a I want the new stuff, which we all do and I'm sure when we get it we'll be happy they waited.

OK so do you not think that the powers that be wouldn't test this stuff in the USA? Im sure that testing is going on worldwide and that many of the problems that are found are found are getting sorted asap.
When you look at the forum and some of the posts we have to deal with, can you imagine the grief the staff would get if the Beta was released to a majority?
A large proportion of people who kick up a storm simply have a setting error which is resolved by behaving like a normal human being.
And people ask the devs to let these people test stuff!!!!
Its in beta things go wrong and errors are found. The behaviour of many people on the forum would mean they would go into melt down.
The new software is going to be an entire new OS which is why it is taking time and guess what? Its free, people who are testing it are suffering for you're greater gain. Chill tabs all round.

There are literally zero performance improvements to be gained from changing your IP.

It would be the equivalent of changing the number on the wall in front of your house. And, much like that, you might end up not getting your mail.

Buster reacted to Netduma Jack in Two console issue
2 consoles in Hyper Traffic cannot be prioritised over each other, but are prioritised over all other devices on the network. They work on a first-come first-served basis - if a packet arrived for PS4 A, the packet would leave first for PS4 A over PS4 B. They are essentially prioritised at the same rate given how many packets arrive and are sent.

If you've figured out the best Anti Flood setting for you then just keep it how it is - we recommend 70/70 generally because it's an all-rounder and gives you enough room to avoid bufferbloat etc.

Also we hope to add a DMZ feature soon enough, probably some time after we launch DumaOS.

Thanks for letting us know, and that goes to XSXS and belly120 as well. I'm making note of it as a potential bug - Fraser and I don't see any real reason why those ports should need to be opened by UPnP. If we get some sort of reason why from other devs, I'll make sure to post it here - otherwise I wouldn't worry about it too much if your gameplay is unaffected.
This one should hopefully be stamped out in DumaOS.

A long awaited update on DumaOS

We have made a lot of progress over the past few weeks. The OS is currently being beta tested by more of our UK based users and their feedback has been great. Thanks to their testing we have been able to make the OS very stable. This is a big milestone. DumaOS is such a big undertaking so getting to this point, where we know the firmware is solid, is a very good feeling.

Now we have stability we can shift our focus to usability. This means making things as easy as possible to use and much more 'plug and play' than the current R1 firmware. For example, we have developed an 'Auto Congestion Control' feature, which automatically applies Anti-flood and Hyper Traffic whenever you are gaming (this can be turned off by the more experienced users who prefer to manually configure things).

Once usability is in place we can then widen the beta to more users. So this means we will be expanding the beta pool soon through the Coal Mine. Open Beta should then follow not long afterwards. We've deliberately not given exact dates here - it'll be ready when it's ready!

After usability comes the fun stuff, when we can create many new features that we have in our Development Roadmap. We will continue to roll these out on a regular basis even after DumaOS is fully launched, meaning your router will just keep getting better and better.

Finally we just want to say thank you for all your support and patience. We realise it's frustrating when we don't send out status updates so we're going to make sure we do more to keep you guys in the loop. What we will say is be assured we are working as hard as we can to get DumaOS ready. It's a big step up for our company so we want it out there as much as you do. But only when it's ready!

    Thank you for your understanding,

    The Netduma Team
