If that is true. It might be best to release it the week before BO4 comes out.  Lets get everyone upgraded and any issues that come up resolved so people aren't on here complaining their duma is screwed up and they can't even play BO4. Cause you know the headaches that's gonna cause on the forums.

Sure - there's just a couple more steps to take, but at this stage it's extremely minor stuff. DumaOS is running extremely well on the R1. It makes us feel proud of the Mikrotik hardware if anything; it's clear that it still packs a punch!
Just to clarify, we aren't going to release a launch date or build expectations this time. After the last delay I hope you can understand why - instead, we plan on dropping DumaOS very soon unannounced. It'll be ridiculously easy to upgrade, just like installing any new R1 firmware.
Looking forwards, once you all have DumaOS installed you should consider it to be the beginning. DumaOS is cross-platform; any feature released for the Netgear routers should make its way to the R1 as well unless there are exceptional circumstances. This means fan-favourites like Ping Assist or brand new features will be released for you guys long into the future. There could also be unique features on the R1 version of DumaOS, such as an entirely rebuilt settings suite.
Please don't take my word as absolutely accurate, especially later on - I'm just telling you what I know personally. I wish I could tell you an estimate of when it could be launched but it'd be defeating the purpose at this point!

It may be a good idea to release R1OS and then test the hybrid VPN as there's already rumblings of this being seen as a further setback in the release. Just saying as I am starting to see 1 or 2 posts starting to emerge!

As soon as the ability to change your theme is a feature (which I'm sure it will be before long) I'll make sure there's an R1 legacy theme - Cheetah and all.

Will the R1 Upgrade have an Early Adopter Skin?
Obviously there was no need for that in regards to the Netgear DumaOS, but lots of early bird R1 models out there would like to keep their spring dresses

Well, yes, obviously, but Netduma has always maintained that wasn't the case and they were hard at work on the R1. Anywho, I hope it's not months, otherwise you can expect this thread to deteriorate just like all the others. It's also much easier to defend them when you're a beta tester. You've known what's been going on for years, instead of being left in the dark like the rest of us peasants.

"Briefly delayed" on April 16th. It is now August 18th. 4 months, 2 days. I officially give up on waiting. It's very clear that DumaOS isn't coming to R1 owners and that we've been mislead since the Netgear Nighthawk announcement. It sucks to finally say it, but I give up on Netduma as a company. You guys leave your customers in the dark for periods of time that are far too long. I'm not complaining, just stating a fact. It sucks, man. The R1 was a great product. However, going many, many months without any meaningful updates and little-to-no communication from the company on important updates that directly impact R1 owners has to be the nail in the coffin for this once great router.

I applaud you guys on creating the software that made the R1 so special. It was awesome to be an early adopter for such a promising product. Through every bug and patch you guys released, it still held up. There are just better options now, so the R1 will now just be used as my secondary connection's WiFi distributor. Hopefully you guys get the DumaOS to the customers who are still here defending you every single day, and soon, those people are few at this point.

Thanks for making Destiny 1's connections bearable in Year 2, and for making BO3 and WW2 playable. See ya, dudes. Hopefully you guys can turn this mess around.

I've given up on DumaOS for the R1 and have moved onto the Nighthawk XR500. With growing family needs, household wifi was in need of a serious upgrade, so it made sense to fork out for the better hardware whilst retaining the things I like most about Netduma.

However, the lack of information here is a serious problem and if there was a viable alternative, many of us would have made the move by now. It's closing in on 2 years since the DumaOS announcement and we've seen excuse after excuse as to why it remains vapourware for the R1. Tossing out a "briefly delayed" post on the eve of the due date was, in my view, the death rattle for the R1.

I hung around for the anti-spike and anti-jitter to complement anti-bufferbloat, but my patience has worn out and it's time to put the old R1 dog to bed. Hopefully they'll materialise on the XR500. If not, someone else will beat Netduma to the punch - it's the technology we're enamoured with, not the company.

I've been a Duma fanboy since I bought in as an early adopter and have sung its praises to anyone who will listen. I get that the Netgear relationship is the priority now, but it's a shame those who helped Netduma into this position are the ones being left behind.

At the very least, offer the Duma Army a discount to upgrade to the XR500 so they can leave the R1 in the past. The hardware is clearly not up to powering DumaOS, so let's all move on and give up this charade.

    well said

think Netduma is, or at least was, in financial problems as otherwise you would never ever agree to a partnership with netgear but release your own new router
it just doesnt make sense, if you have patents and groundbreaking technology then you try to market those by your own
and if it was meant to be a pr stunt then i have to tell you that there are better ways to achieve more, pretty sure that 9 out of 10 netgear XR500 users are not aware that DumaOS is done by a company that also sells routers, not a single review or article i read mentioned this, "Netgear with their new DumaOS" was usually their wording
instead Netgear has now the last word on which features are Netgear-approved and which arent, i mean honestly, what is happening here?
yeah this is a common clause in partnerships but dont you realise you re now a contractor rather than a self controlled router company?
and that you will be dropped as soon as Netgears R&D managed to come up with something equal or potentially better?

anti-spike and anti-jitter are the only reasons im looking forward to the DumaOS, i could care less about the reskin and rearrangement of buttons
the DumaOS still hasnt hit the coal mine and we literally had no status update within weeks...

honestly Netduma staff, there are free courses on business development, ecommerce, marketing and anything else you need to know to change the course of your ship, the direction you are heading towards right now is absolutly the wrong one

I disagree with you.  I think NetDuma would absolutely purposely lie to the Duma Army.  The reason I come to this conclusion is the fact that they waited 1 day prior to the launch of DumaOS on the R1 to delay it.  You, the moderators and everyone else who can be reasonable has to understand that this issue did not prop up on April 16th 2018.  I refuse to believe that supposedly this got overlooked until the day of the launch.  Also if that is the case I am sure same was required when they launched with NetGear XR500 backwards compatibility etc.  That was 2 months a go now I believe correct me if I am wrong * I could be wrong about when the XR500 launched*.  With all that said I believe they knew in advance but they bought themselves time and hoped they could fix it.  They couldn't fix it so they delayed on the day of the launch.  I would be less upset if they just said 2 weeks a go we need more time but no they do it on the last day.  Also they didn't delay it to a specific date they simply said its delayed at most is a few weeks.  What is a few weeks?  It was delayed in 2016 to 2018.  Private beta apparently happened for the DumaOS but never did the Public Beta.  They never said Public Beta would not have taken place.

I also signed up for e-mail notifications about the DumaOS on their site and never once did i get an e-mail about anything period.  So yes I believe NetDuma has purposely lied to us and will continue.   This is just my opinion and conclusion I have come to.  Personally I hope I am wrong because I want NetDuma to succeed but I also want to hold them accountable to if nothing else but their own DAMN timetable/schedules.

    Thank You

    Absolute nonsense.

Let's face it, another vague reason with a vague timeline.

Do tech products really need to have the ability to be rolled back to a previous version? If so, why can't there just be a separate download to an older version rather than have to make the whole thing backwards compatible.

Just remember guys, we've been lied to and misled for the best part, maybe even more, than a year. Nothing has changed.

I would just like to point out that every single firmware update on the R1 since its inception has had no backwards compatibility.
Once you updated to a newer firmware, you couldn't go back.
People have gone against Netduma's warnings and updated their R1s to a previous firmware but took a huge risk in bricking the device.
But we were told from the beginning of every new firmware that going back to a previous firmware was not an option.

So this 'backwards compatibility' excuse is just that, an excuse.

Just tell us the R1 can't run well with DUMAOS and be done with it.
    Stop with the excuses already.

I love your videos Sim but you already have their new router with DumaOS.  Your wait is over for the DumaOS.  For the rest of us or for me at least this delay does not add any fun to the mix.  2016 it was supposed to be released it never did, 2017 was supposed to have public Beta of the DumaOS it never happened.  April 17th 2018 the day its suppose to release its delayed because they didn't talk  to their lawyers ahead of time....I don't buy it.  I respect where you stand on this but your quick defense of them and lack of accountability for the company is disheartening.
