Well it kind of boils down to you can’t change the firmware. It’s a case of leaving it as it is or thinking it’s time for a replacement.

Thought I would stop by and introduce myself. My name is Kieran and i've recently joined the Marketing team here at Netduma. 
Excited to say that we are making plans to bring more content (in my case, focusing mainly on video content) to our social media platforms. This includes YouTube, Twitter, Instagram etc.

I would hang on to the R2, as with all new routers they often go through various updates before it’s all sorted and with the R2 updates should arrive quicker. You could always add an AX extender in Access point mode to handle the WiFi on the R2 so you have WiFi 6 but you still  have the R2 for the quicker updates. 
Then as time goes on you can see how the AX range of routers expands and go from there. 

Flash is no longer supported, Adobe now provide advise on how to remove it. Any site requiring flash is now a security risk.

I believe you are correct, because I was not having this any issues other than not getting a open NAT for Cold War before I updated to the latest firmware 1.0.0.52_1.0.38.
 

Should not reset its self. I would install the latest firmware over the top, then factory reset using pin hole method at the back. Remember to allow the firmware update at least 5 mins before resetting. Make sure you log out before reset.

what I meant is that it reboots itself. I also do not have it in a confined area. And I did use the rear pin to reset it as well as the software itself.

eye candy. They make em to resemble stealth fighters to give the impression of speed and responsiveness. It's all about marketing and capturing a certain age group and target audience.

The R2 is created by us and the XR1000 is created by Netgear so the release dates are up to each company. We are capable of doing more than one thing at once and given it is a router operating system, work we do on one router will positively impact another, we're going to keep moving forward.

I think a lot of routers look awful to be honest, in saying that i don’t have mine as a show piece so if it’s doing the job that’s number one. 
I'm tempted to see how this fairs and it’s going to have 3.0 straight out of the box.

Well answered by Newfie above. We specifically decided against WiFi 6 as we wanted to get DumaOS in the hands of as many people as possible on solid hardware, WiFi 6 would have significantly increased the cost and therefore contradicted that goal.

Well  I can’t really help you. This router is a combination of NG and Netduma, so firmwares are supplied under one roof. I would suggest if you don’t have luck with this router maybe try a nice basic one that’s easier to understand. You clearly don’t understand low level coding which needs clearing at times.still that’s routers, if you want SNB is a good site to learn why a reset is required. I’ll let you google that as it’s good for you to research yourself for more understanding.
 
you should do more research and perhaps read the manuals from support so you understand a bit more about the XR routers. Good luck.
 
 

I have auto update off. Always have. Yes this still happened to me. So they can always push these updates regardless.

I'll try and explain as best I can without revealing secrets about DumaOS 3.0.
It was a problem on our cloud server, a developer pushed an update to our cloud which caused the interface not to load. The cloud update was bugged for a few hours. We had to get one of our developers to come in at midnight to get it sorted out ASAP.
It's worth noting that none of the backend functionality of the router was affected, it was just the user's ability to access the interface.
Some people have expressed concerns that if the servers were ever to go down, that their routers would stop working. This isn't the case, all that would happen in that situation is that you would receive no more cloud updates.
The cloud update system is what we use to expand the amount of games supported by the router. This was a case of human error, and it's taught us never to do any testing using the live server!
