Newfie got a reaction from Jaquio in Any way to force 2.4Ghz Connection
    Hi
If you mean you have say a TV box on 2.4 and you can remotely stream to it via a phone and that’s connected on the 5Ghz then yes, devices can see each other as it’s on the same network and not isolated.

what many do is IoT are placed on the 2.4 and 5Ghz handles devices that need the extra throughput. Distance though comes into play depending on the environment.

This was used on the really old routers. It’s not advisable to use it now as it can corrupt modern routers.

Go to the support page and download the latest firmware. Then reinstall the firmware using the manual update followed by a factory reset using the rear pinhole method. Remember to allow time for the update to be installed and hold the rear pinhole in for at least 20 seconds. Do not turn the router off at any point.
see if that cures your issue.

Thanks for the information, disable DumaOS Classified Games or the manual rule you've made, they're both doing the same thing so only one is needed. Also reset distribution on Bandwidth Allocation, gaming uses barely anything so doesn't need that much. Also what are your Congestion Control settings?
It could be partially that it's a new router and you were using a Spectrum router with a Spectrum modem so could take a few days to settle. To check you can take the MAC address of the old router, enter that as the XR MAC in Internet Setup, apply, reboot from the interface and see if the ping is lower again.

We have had the modem for nearly 2 weeks. The mac address worked it is back to normal! You are a legend my friend.

    Hey, welcome to the forum!
Sorry to hear you're having this issue. Good advice above, if needed here is the TFTP guide to follow to re-install the firmware: https://kb.netgear.com/000059634/How-to-upload-firmware-to-a-NETGEAR-router-using-Windows-TFTP

    Sorry about the dual post.
It's still really early and I need more coffee.
    Thanks Liam

    Hey @button1masher,

Did you have Adblocker enabled before you disabled QoS?
Disabling QoS also takes down Adblocker, so I was wondering if perhaps Adblocker was the actual cause?
If Adblocker is the cause, then we just have to figure out which blocked domain is causing the problem and add it to the whitelist.

    Also: iOS or Android?

I have tried both the pinhole and through software. Both give the same result.

We don't currently have this available and I don't have a date but yes it is in development - it is called Data History, here is a small preview:

I'm using HG to xr 500 at mo.  I left the the 5 and 2.4 wireless on same name, is it better to split the with different names and turn off smart connect and pick you own wireless channel, Not sure what's best way as I'm finding wireless range poor and my phone 4g signal taking over.
The ppoe stuff in xr was easy to do and change the DNS servers.
Ping under load showing no improvements with HG to xr over my tp to xr.

It’s laws of physics, distance and speed. They could have 10 gig connection but the time spent travelling will be longer for them regardless.

That's cool! I'm not entirely sure if the XR500 does this as well as you said it's Netgear's hardware. We are actually working on some cool improvements to Hybrid VPN so I'll add this to the roadmap and see what the team think. Thanks!

Going through DD-WRT forums I came across a option in the R7800 for CPU frequency scaling. Apperantly the R7800 can and does adjust its clock rate between 384 MHz and 1,7GHz. Since XR500 is it’s sister, it’s safe to assume they do the same thing.

On DD-WRT there is a setting to run the CPU at 1,7GHz all the time. This seems to greatly increase OpenVPN speeds. (They went from 40mbit to 100+) And I imagine this will speed up QoS as well if you hit it with a large chunk of traffic.

Is it possible for DumaOS to introduce a option to disable CPU frequency scaling? Ie a sort of performance mode. And is it possible to add R apps displaying CPU frequency and temperatures? it’s a thing in the Netgear firmware but maybe Netduma can request the option?

    Hi peeps 👋
Just a small issue with the XR500 V2.3.2.120.
If I block a device in Device Manager and click apply, the HTML code for a bold font displays within the textual popup, instead of actually applying the bold font itself.
