ToOFeduP reacted to antigen in Device manager still having too many devices
Wasn't sure if this was fixed in a previous firmware but it seems to be an issue that has been existing for a long time since I've had the XR500. Under the device manager, there are numerous (and I mean NUMEROUS) devices mapped in the manager but not all of them are online. I see duplicates of game devices, streaming devices, etc. It's a bit of a headache to comb through it all.
I've seen one possible solution floating around is to factory reset the device. I'd rather not do that as it was a chore to set up all the smart devices in the home.. and to do that all again is exhausting. Is there something in the works that is going to fix this ongoing issue?

Would you please stop using that word in this context. It doesn't mean what you seem to think it does. You have been saying that for nearly a year. All you are doing by using that word is creating false hype. It's inconceivable.

ToOFeduP reacted to Netduma Fraser in Dont turn disable ipv6
If it's literally only started during this pandemic while people have been at home more often then no I wouldn't be concerned about it. Depends what your speeds are, if you're unlikely to saturate the connection and cause local congestion then you could disable it. It's up to you, whatever gives you the best experience.
ToOFeduP reacted to Rages in Dont turn disable ipv6
So when i had setup my rx300 ipv6 was disabled if its disabled it would cause my games to hitch and lag for no reason. If your games start to hitch I recommend to enable ipv6 and it will stop hitching. My game sessions wouldnt last any longer than 2 hours, after that it would be unplayable. Turning on ipv6 now doesnt cause any hitches or lag spikes in game and while watching netflix or youtube. If your experiencing this go to setting in the bottom of dumaos and click advance settings go to ipv6 and click auto detect and click on it now when its done setting up go back to ipv6 and use get automatically from isp and also use DHCP servers than click apply and it will be resolved. This took me over a month to figure out.
ToOFeduP reacted to OnlineGamer in xr500 dropping internet
so like an idiot I went and a bought 3rd XR500..... brand new router in less than a month it did the same internet cut off even it showed it was receiving internet twice. now I am starting to see again the same issues (sawtooth pattern in pingplotter like if it was congestion, inconsistent speeds, high jitter, higher ping) which I thought was my ISP but after running a test it is not my ISP. I ran a test as soon as I saw this happening I unhooked the PCs ethernet cable going to the router and plugged it into the ONT box (without resseting the ONT box) and ran a test on ookla speedtest and pingplotter. I didnt get no sawtooth pattern on pingplotter it was actually running normal. I ran some test on ookla speedtest and speed were pretty consistent jitter was always between 0.30-0.70 and ping remain a 1ms-2ms.
I turned the router back on plugged the PC ethernet back into the router and what did I get? sawtooth patterns on pingplotter, inconsistent speeds in ookla with a jitter of 2.38 and a ping of 5ms-7ms. (I know it is not much but I am having issues when I play online for that I return the router which costs $300 for that I buy a $100 regular router or an ASUS which I really think about doing)
so the issue is not a broken router or defective router if thats the case then you guys are sending out broken routers even when we calling and exchange them. the issue is an EXTREMELY buggy and broken .56 firmware. is there a firmware that is working properly? I know .32 is compromised on the XR500 sooooo I mean when is this new firmware coming? some dont have the time trying to figure what will work, some of us have to work from home and since the virus most of us have to work from home. do we have to file a complaint so that NETGEAR can send out the update?
ToOFeduP reacted to Newfie in Just bought a new XR500
I think at the moment isp’s are under huge strains and when Netflix and YouTube lower byte rates this tells you there are issue. No router, no software will be getting you the connection you want at the moment and most router forums are seeing complaints over poor performance which is related to the internet rather than their equipment.
ToOFeduP reacted to OnlineGamer in xr500 dropping internet
my second XR500 is dropping internet connection yet says it is connected and receiving internet. it happened with my first xr500 and now with this one. will this ever get fixed? I am extremely tired of paying $300 for things that dont work properly. my internet didnt drop out from the ISP because as soon as it happened I rebooted the modem not the ONT box and everything went back to normal. this is the second time in less than a week that it happens and I really dont want to do a factory rest for the 20th time. is there a fix for this?
ToOFeduP reacted to Master Kief in ANNOUNCEMENT: The Future of DumaOS: Version 3.0
I've now owned the XR500 for 1.5 years and to this day:
No IPv6 without killing off the QOS. No USB printer support. Incorrect network activity stats. No control over VPN settings. Bugs and glitches in the management GUI. Very questionable QOS performance is some games. Very poor update support. At this point this product should be considered as abandonware. Netduma's/Netgear's lack for transparency with such a vocal community is truly disturbing.
There are other manufacturers with devices out there that have a much more active support than Netgear/Netduma and according to my preliminary research, as good, if not better implementations of QOS and AQM.
I am no longer actively using this router and will soon be totally replacing it. Hats off to those of you who will be sticking around for the long haul, still beta testing a 2 year old AC router.
ToOFeduP reacted to CrossFitKila717 in QOS Disable?
Because I have 300/300 fiber & no traffic in my house. Even when my wife is watching Netflix while I’m playing, I’m watching PingPlotter & my graph is pretty flawless, never fluctuating more than 1ms (5-6ms is what it stays at with 220.127.116.11) and since gaming uses almost nothing, I figured I’m pretty good.
Unfortunately, at least with BO4, I can’t really tell a difference between using the Duma and just straight hardwired into my gateway with no control at all. I have great and not so great gameplay either way.
Believe me, I want the Duma to be amazing and make a difference. I hate this inconsistency.
What are your thoughts? I’m always open to learn!
My PingPlotter during gameplay with no Duma.......
ToOFeduP reacted to Ptingler81 in At my wits end
Hey so my base ping is 14-15 not bad. Something has got to be majorly wrong. It's PISSING ME OFF!!!!! I spend nearly $200/month for internet plus the equipment I've bought just to feel like every game I play I'm behind. I've done everything the admins have said to do, port fwd, 70/70 abb, traffic priority, geo-filter with servers on the East coast New Jersey and Atlanta, Chicago, Texas, and all the way across the freaking country in LA and Seattle. Still feel like I'm at a disadvantage. I truly and sincerely dont care if I die or have a bad game but I've literally spent the better part of three days (10+ hours/day, not lying) this week trying to fix this connection issue I'm having because I'm tired of seeing on this forum videos of others with better connections (great from them) stating how great the XR500 w Duma OS is. I cant be the only person here from the East Coast in the USA. It would be nice if people would share what works geographically, someone in the UK has no clue how to fix my connection, and visa versa. But if person A and person B live in the same region, chances are they connect to the same dedi's maybe have the same ISP. Get some similarities going with regions and ISPs create a thread on here of just ISP's and different settings users have found that works. For the betterment of the community.
I just want to break something right now. I feel like Fred Durst.
ToOFeduP reacted to slugg in At my wits end
I've tried all the stuff posted that you mention you've read about and for that game it does nothing for me a a 300/20 spectrum cable connection. Oddly enough they all seem better most of the time with everything off as far as qos, traffic prio etc.. So sick of broke ass mp games not working right. You know we didn't have as much trouble before "matchmaking" came along.
ToOFeduP reacted to XR500 Noob in DoS Attacks/ New IP address?
Basically, I've troubleshot my internet extensively (ISP techs, multiple ISP modem resets, new modem and router, every setting I could think to boost or limit my net issues) and finally found out that I was being DoS attacked through the XR500 logs.
[DoS Attack: SYN/ACK Scan] from source: 18.104.22.168, port 80, Saturday, January 18, 2020 22:11:31 [DoS Attack: SYN/ACK Scan] from source: 22.214.171.124, port 80, Saturday, January 18, 2020 22:10:46 [DoS Attack: SYN/ACK Scan] from source: 126.96.36.199, port 80, Saturday, January 18, 2020 22:06:07
There are hundreds more, but here are some.
First I set up a VPN through the XR500, which didn't rid me of the problem. I then went to my command prompt and created a new IP address, and then received a DoS attack soon after.I then tried to input a static IP from my command prompt. My net crashed, I reversed it back and now am stuck.
I also just received this error, not sure what in regards too. (NetGear SOAP has failed)
Ahh the timing: [DoS Attack: SYN/ACK Scan] from source: 188.8.131.52, port 80, Saturday, January 18, 2020 22:50:42 As I'm putting this request in.
As my name indicates, I don't feel like I know enough to figure this out on my own. Please send help.
