You should never alter the MTU, leave it turned off as this will use the default MTU value for your connection type.

No, but I’ll try that next. I’ve never seen it do that before but that’ll be nice if it’s just the GEO.
Now I did reset it in a round about way after I factory reset it so not sure if the GEO would be the cause. But definitely worth a shot.

Yes sir, but since I factory reset I’ll have to add them again.
I really appreciate you ALL helping me out with this. Hopefully we can get it figured out. This is probably the first real issue I’ve had.

Give your gaming devices at least 1mbps, but ideally nearer 5mbps, then allocate everything else as you want. The main QoS tool to stop lag in gaming is Anti-Bufferbloat (Anti-flood). So if you have that setup then you should be fine.

I literally just leave it alone. Youd want at least 500kbits-1mbit on the upload side and the rest doesn't matter much. Its just crucial for you packets to have what it needs to get out there and that's it. But if you have fast enough speeds, youll find it wont make a difference. I know games do speed tests though and im not sure if that is relevant to getting better lobbies or not.

Oh cool, that makes sense. For some reason I was thinking it’s still the distance from my “actual” location.

Yep! Craziness 😂. Never thought that “intentionally” playing on a Europe server, being in the U.S., would be the ticket to great gameplay. Learn something new everyday I guess.

If you want to achieve this, I'd recommend Ping Assist at 0 and then move your 'home' location on the Geo-Filter to a server region that gives you a ping amount you prefer. For example, I know some UK players prefer the French servers instead of UK, so they use the Geo-Filter to force French servers.
    Hope that makes sense.

CrossFitKila717 got a reaction from Netduma Fraser in Amazing connection, crap gameplay!?
Yes, I just wanted to try with no geo just to see what happens......I played 4-5 rds & the gameplay was night & day difference! Granted it was only 4-5 rds, one time during the day......but, the game felt way more responsive & crisp. It responded to my inputs.....if I was smart, I won the gunfight, when I was dumb, I lost. So in other words, I was in control, not the game. With that being said, it would still be a crapshoot since I have no idea was servers I was on. So yes, I agree, I’ll turn geo back on, re-add my console and open my geo up to allow higher ping servers.

1- Fiber is really good in my experience. I've had fiber for 2+ years and have yet to experience an outage.
2- Typically, the fiber runs to your house to a ONT that converts that fiber connection to ethernet.
3- You are stuck with their gateway. It's the only way AT&T can authenticate your connection. Follow this link https://forums.att.com/t5/AT-T-Internet-Features/How-to-put-the-Motorola-NVG589-in-bridge-mode-or-as-close-as-you/td-p/3552057/page/2 for IP-passthrough. It works fine.
Note: If you want to bypass the gateway, you can also try the dumb switch method discussed in DSL reports.  I'm currently using TP-link TL-SG105 (Amazon $16) for this.
Here are the steps originally posted by jsolo1.

    1) Define your gateway's mac on the wan port of whatever router you want to use (asus, netgear, etc). WAN connectivity should be via dhcp.
    2) I'm using a simple dumb switch (dlink DGS-1005G, $10-20 on ebay/amazon) to handle ONT/RGW/Router connectivity.
2a) With everything from a fully off state, allow the ONT to register (~2 min) the fiber connection first. During this time there's nothing but fiber and power plugged into the ONT.
2b) Connect ONT's ethernet port to one port of the dumb switch.
2c) Connect the wan port of the RGW to another port on the dumb switch.
2d) Connect power to the RGW
    3) Wait 1-2 minutes for both lights to become solid green on the RGW.
    4) You can now power down and disconnect the RGW from the dumb switch.
    5) Connect your router's WAN port to the dumb switch. Turn the router on.
    6) Within a minute or less it should acquire the same IP, gateway and DNS as the gateway had.
    7) Enjoy

"ONT reregistration will only be necessary if power to the ONT or dumb switch is disrupted. In that case, repeat steps 2b-5.
It's recommended to have the switch on a PSU in case you lose power, the switch stays connected. It's more of a convenience thing.
You got lucky they provided you the BGW210 gateway since the Pace 5246AC has issues with DMZ+ and provides no IP passthrough.

Yes sir....huge difference. For one, the PingPlotter line looks the exact same even when the lady is watching Netflix! With the Spectrum cable, no matter what settings I had, it’d be hit or miss with jitter. Secondly, going from cable to fiber did more than cut my ping in half.....same exact servers, but instead of 12-14ms ping, I’m getting a consistent 5ms......& along with this, my base ping when from a 9-12, down to a 3-4ms. Definitely worth it if you can get your hands on it.

Make sure on the BGW that you disable UPnP & Port Forwarding as that may be affecting it. Then see what the console reads, if still strict first disable the Geo-Filter and see what it says. If it's the same then try UPnP over port forwarding on the Duma. DumaOS Classified Games encompasses all consoles so no need to add the console manually.

CrossFitKila717 got a reaction from TrayDay in Possible or no??
So, weird thing happened.......my settings have been working great with my sliders set to give me about 10mb down & 10mb up (8% / 98%). For whatever reason, this is where I have the most stable line when running PingPlotter. Anyways, my setup is Modem - Duma - then wireless router & Xbox hardwired to the Duma. I suddenly had massive jitter that wouldn’t go away no matter where I put my settings. Rebooted Duma & still no go. Here’s the weird thing (& question)......is it possible for the wireless router to somehow backfeed to the Duma & wig it out? I wouldn’t have thought so until I did a factory reset on the wireless router & my problem went away! The wireless router is only used for wireless but it’s “after” the Duma in the setup.

If they were both gaming it would prioritize both consoles above all other devices in the house. If as you say your wife's Xbox is only streaming Netflix then Traffic Prioritization will not prioritize it as it's not a game so no need to add any manual rules!
