Zippy reacted to Netduma Iain in R2 Signal Strength Issue
Hi everyone, thanks for purchasing the R2. Just a heads up, we're working on a firmware that will give you dynamic wireless information. We should have it available in at most in a couple of days. This firmware will also have more channels for you to choose from. Finally, we'll be able to tweak your power up to the acceptable range.
For the power tweaking we'll do it manually by accessing your router until we've fully resolved the issue then we'll add features on the GUI to control the TX power.
@Netduma Anas will be helping you. Thanks for your patience

Yeah I am back to manually figuring out the best settings for my Congestion Control Sliders.  Auto QOS doesn't work for me (ping or bandwidth prioritized). I want to say one of the devs said it is too agressive in what it is trying to do.  I am confident Netduma will get it resolved though.

New releases always have bugs the XR500 certainly did and I helped beta test that model. These issues will be solved but the router has only been out since Friday. Now that it is being used in the wild so to speak issues like this will be easy to spot and fix. Hold in there and give the router some time to be patched for new issues.

Only Netduma can do this but feel free to enter a request for it to be added to the Ping Heat Map.

I also used a 8mm socket and ever so carefully tighten the antenna sockets as well.. One has to be very careful not to over tighten them though.. I could easily see one cracking the plastic or even breaking the socket away from the pc board inside if the antenna sockets are fastened to the pc board directly..  So caution should be used. Its something id almost even ask Netduma about before doing so..
There seems to be two points that can be a problem. One is the lose sockets and the other is the antennas themselves at the joint where they swivel or pivot..

@Netduma Fraser @Netduma Alex If you guys are flashing these routers yourselves you guys might want to check to make sure the antenna sockets are also tight. If my memory servers me correct a 8mm socket is the size needed to make sure the nuts are tight on each of the 4 antenna sockets. Wouldnt hurt to double check them before shipping..
    Thanks!

One of mine was loose. Just needs the nut around the threaded part tightening a tad

Exactly Killhippie! Well explained!   The nuts are indeed the gold ones I am speaking of. And the antennas are friction fit. So nothing you can do there to tighten them.
I think most of the issues some are having are likely with the gold nuts possibly being lose and not so much with the antennas themselves..
    Thanks!

The 8mm socket tightens the gold nut on the antenna screw connections on the router, the droopies are well droopie. Not sure if the antenna can be tightened as there isn't a way to actually do that its held tight by friction fit, Fraser.

8mm socket will do the trick.  I would check them all though.

Hi all, we have been able to reproduce disabling QoS preventing devices connecting to the internet over WiFi. Will be investigating this, hopefully can fix soon.

What model number is your Arris modem? Whats strange about your situation is when you posted the ipconfig screenshot in there your default gateway is showing the ip address of your modem. And not the ip address of your R2. Your R2 ip address is 192.168.77.1.. And that should be appearing as your default gateway in your ipconfig.. Just wanted to point that out to you so you understood..  The question is why is this happening.. So is your Arris a combo unit? Meaning is it a modem and router in one unit? If you can simply give me the model number of it I can tell you and try to help..
    Thanks!

Could you post your results on here please, would be helpful to analyse. Have you also tried using the auto congestion control tool in QoS?
We’ll be adding more IPv6 options soon. Good to know you’d like them.

It was dispatched on Thursday so will be on the move tonight  from its current location. It should be with you earlier than that all things being equal - only issue is COVID has slowed down delivery times for everyone. But hopefully it will be with you very soon

Hi there - we’ve provided this to DHL so it’s on the move. We use digital invoices but for some reason, DHL needed a paper copy for your country. All sorted now so should hopefully be with you soon. Thank you for ordering!

@wrighty338 Can I ask which country you're based as well? As different countries have different channels available to them. That could be part of the issue. If you haven't fixed it by tomorrow I'll go back in the office and personally assist you with the issue
