Id have to agree with @stalker4hire- to stay with what you currently have for the time being.. At least id take the safe route for now and not purchase any of the XR series atm. See what the next new firmware does to the XR series type routers and then decide from there. New features are always cool. But nothing is cool when its bugged or not working correctly.. The R1 is likely your better option atm..

We all saw that the duma is crippled for some of us in populated areas with many servers to choose from. Bo4 worked better for me without the duma. I found matches faster and with lower ping than with the duma. The duma was literally ignoring or blocking servers that were my choice servers and filtered to be the ONLY servers WITHIN the filter radius. Now with MW I am seeing "NOTICE Unable to connect to a data center. Please check your internet connection and try again. "  Is this going to be another year of BS with duma OS?  Or are we getting some answers instead of false promises? Just freaking admit the issues and allow me to move on and sell this PoC. Or if a fix is REALLY coming hurry up and give me a solid date. Netgear is so terrible now, wish I never bought this router. Support from both ends is basic and laughable at best. No offense. I get it. Fish out of water and such... I have documented support issues that were proven over and over yet never resolved.  It's not a config issue. I have been around since R1 first day, early adopter, plenty of experience on my end as well. Not trying to be a dick but this is insanity.

I think he means managing the huge allow/deny list we get from game to game.  It's kind of a mess when you have 20+ allows and with the geofilter not really excluding server clusters the Deny list gets even larger. Then you have to account for friends from different games etc. It would be cool to have profiles for each game under the geofilter itself so we could swap the entire layout by the game.  For instance, Fortnite in the US is West Coast or East Coast. My CoD friends rarely play Fortnite. It would be cool if once I turned on the filter I could tell it was game profile it was for and the Filter would lock down East coast since my ping is lower there by far as well as my allow/deny list would already have the friends that play that game that more than likely fall outside of the filter area.  Its the same somewhat with whatever version of CoD I am playing at the moment. BO4 servers are in the same filter range as MWR but I've yet to see IDs match from the exact same area.  I seriously have 20+ of each allow or deny for each of those CoDs, that's visually a lot to keep track of if you run into trouble and need to ID something quickly.

That's really annoying, we're aiming to improve the cloud even further so hopefully we can do something about that. I'll continue to push this to the team and see if there is anything we can do. I completely understand why do you not want to tinker any longer and do hope that by the time you come back you'll be happy with the router then.

I've sent you a PM with the IPs, hopefully that helps with your workaround. I've chased again the team on how to further deal with your issues and I hope to have a response soon.

Ghosts? Yea I guess that makes more sense than some of your troubleshooting.  It's pretty simple. You've got several people reporting the same issue with geofilter blocking server INSIDE the filter and NOT blocking servers that are OUTSIDE the filter as well as on the DENY list.  I guess we will all just sit down and joke about it? Cool. It's your product that looks like shit in the mean time.  I guess I will just go elsewhere maybe hang out with the ghosts of all the long time users who have given up on the Netduma team due to inconsistencies and slow production. If you, and your flippant attitude, are the future of the company then they should just sell it off now cause there is no hope. Seems the name of the game now is to blame the user, game and Netgear. All the while Netgear blames Netduma and waits the consumer out for that warranty expiration so they can sell more extended warranties for a product that has never been completely stable and each Firmware update has presented more issues. Sad.

Which is ludicrous. The 40 man Alcatraz lobbies play so smooth also, on PC at least, when lobbies got down to 30-50 man lobbies on the regular, due to loss of player base,  it was way smoother than 100 man lobby. These jack A's are too dense to realize they are killing their own performance from day one with trying to match the player count of Fartnite. <---------<< not a typo

I mostly camp Texas USA servers and I can tell you that after every major mode change/update there is a period where new batch of server IP/IDs are added and matchmaking goes to crap fast.  It takes about a week for it to get sorted and even then it's iffy. I've played with people from all over the world in US servers.  So people specifically camp there geo-filter around countries further away to benefit from lag comp also. I'm not sure if that works but some people swear by it.

Sounds like you need more testing done on the new firmwares. Release them as betas and you could have thousands of beta testers, us! This will track down bugs faster. Openwrt has new builds daily. Let us help you make your product the best it can be!

The XR500 is a little over 3 months and not one update for current issues, and no updates from Netduma for issues with table view inconsistencies with port mapping compared with NTGR port mapping. Even if it is only visual it should be fixed.

Also still no UPnP tables showing on my router (had three from a beta unit to present unit that has the port numbering the right way around on the back) and only one firmware ever showed UPnP info, but then again I use a mac and Firefox and it seems if you don't use Windows and Chrome that's always the issue. So many times I see "try another browser like Chrome" as a fix. A router should work with all the major browsers not be developed to work with just Chrome, I have issues with Chrome and Flash so neither are used on my device, and I use Duckduckgo as my search provider I try to avoid Google as much as possible, so Firefox should work just fine, and so should Safari and Opera, as well as the mobile Safari browser. Saying that logging in via even any tablet can be a mess.

These are things that need to be fixed before adding more features, unless you just plan to fix bugs and regressions in Milestone 1.4 which tbh does not make me fill me with confidence. Right now some of Milestone 1.3 quirks should have been ironed out as well as bug fixes from NTGR. Also can't you get NTGR to update its GPL source code, things like OpenSSL and miniupnd which is still over a decade old and patched in binary but not actually replaced properly, or maybe you should let a third party developer in to add to your firmware so NTGR have to update this stuff. Voxel who produces a NTGR firmware fork for the R9000 and R7800 can kick new versions with updated packages and bug fixes in week or two while having a full time job. So why Does NTGR never update any of this code, and why don't you push them to do that? I had high hopes that Netduma would get NTGR to update this stuff, but the XR500 is still running the OpenSSL version1.0.2n released in Dec 2017, and its not like there hasn't been any CVE's for OpenSSL or newer versions to patch these security holes since December 2017 either.

I was just checking as my suggestion might require use of another router, totally understand you wouldn't want to use it ideally. I don't believe your issues are due to misconfigurations or anything like that, I think you may have a legitimate bug so my suggestion to the team reflects that, I'll let you know as soon as I have feedback from them.

Fraser Exactly the same issues starker is having has been the very same ive been having..  The Geo Filter sometimes works and then for whatever reason it quits.. I have no idea why this is but it happens. Granted ive got other issues ive noted as well but I see way to many similarities for this to be just a coincident.. Ive now reached out for help from other means to see if this can get sorted and other issues ive encountered. My goal is just to find out if Netgears firmware is the cause of this or if its your OS.. Since this router has your OS laid on top of Netgears firmware there could be easily an issue from Netgears side that breaks down and causes this.. Ive tested a lot of routers and never have I seen anything like this before.. Who knows maybe I got a bad router.. Time will tell I guess... Thanks!

We've got to get a fix for this. It's a router breaking issue, w/o a working, reliable geofilter then why else would I buy the router? ya know.
Just now it started, out of nowhere , trying to connect to servers well outside my filter range. These particular servers are a new cluster of Internap routed servers worldwide that are misplaced from EU and US alike all showing in Kansas, USA.
-The first server it connects me to it, and the game loads me into the lobby and disconnects me with lobby unavailable error counting as a 0 kill loss. This server was NOT in my ALLOW/DENY list at all.
-The second server is actually correctly placed in Texas but is a really crappy connection; lag, ping spikes of 100ms..., Internap Crap is what most are labelled. This server is clearly marked in my allow/deny  list,  and has been for at least 2 days now as DENY, yet the filter doesn't even recognize this for approx. 5 minutes.  I connect and get 3 kills before the geofilter decides to disconnect me. The server is custom ID'd/labelled as Internap 10, this is the same as the server in my list that has been Denied over and over.  It's not an issue of the filter not being applied correctly either. My filter rarely is OFF as well as the first 2-3 matches were filtered and surprisingly correctly joined within the parameters set; allow/deny and filter radius.
    Same message, lobby/game unavailable.
This is really , really, really super frustrating. I want to battle enemies not my router.

Yea I don't see how that's not a HUGE tech support nightmare.  Just in the US alone there are so many terrible ISP connections, and with satellite and now services like Starlink.... their are SO many scenarios where this does NOT pan out.

That's probably the best thing your could do.
We all have our preferences but they are strongly connected to our own individual performance which is based on our setup, location, location to game server, ISP, connection type etc...
Don't get caught up too much into the 'gaming' vpn hype.  These are just VPNs with good routing and server locations close to major gaming server banks.
In the Southern US I find that pureVPN works very well with Chicago and Dallas server locations for CoD. It's cheaper than Express, Nord  and Vypr by far and does the same thing, for me, anyway.
Just try them out, most either have free trial or 30 day no hassle money back guarantee.

-I've never had this issue before when flushing the cloud, new to me, and it's always taken longer than 30 seconds.
-Saying I have the filter ON, always as it's a dedicated line to my gaming devices, and the servers I'm joining will appear as either Clearly marked DENY symbol, no symbol even though they're on the List as Deny or Allow, or they will even appear as ALLOW even though they are not on the list.  I have reset this thing and rebuilt my extensive ALLOW/DENY list several times over in the last few weeks and the results are the same.  Also I clear my browser cache often so i'm at a loss.  Since the filter pretty much decides willy nilly to block AFTER it already connects to dedis outside of the filter range and then gives me a big old ZERO as if I left the match since it decided to work after it allowed a blocked or outside of PA or even outside of the filter range altogether, it pretty much is useless.  Literally out of 10 matches I will get maybe 2-4 that are inside the filter and the rest are ZEROS because of the filter choosing a server outside of the range for whatever reason. Also it is intermittent, last night it worked pretty good, I only got maybe 3 zeros because of the filter but still that's unacceptable. If it's a geofence then what is allowing crap to get through.  Last night PA is off and has been since last reset. I am NOT on VPN and the area is directly over the top of known dedicated server bank in Texas.  The Netduma is literally passing over allowed and within range of filter servers of about 20+ IPs to allow servers well outside of range and some even blocked in the DENY list. It's getting very frustrating to have to 'play' with this router more than I play the game. Settings should remain consistent from day to day. Once it works it should always work for that game barring a huge overhaul in the gaming network infrastructure, but I can prove or disprove that with the duma as a tool.
-I've already sent several screens of servers that are clearly marked as DENIED and even appear as the symbol for a DENIED server yet I connect to them outside of the filter range. I'm not going to sent screens for the next year back and forth, I've done that upon request earlier in this thread. I'm looking for a resolution for something that is happening in bits and pieces to several in other threads.
-I know the difference between Auth servers. These are not. They are servers that I have ID'd other times, kept a side list of and they have been blocked yet the filter is not blocking them. The filter is slow for some reason.  It takes so long for it to ID the server and cross check it against my list that I can literally turn the filter off and stay in the game but that defeats the purpose of having the geo filter block them, well supposed to.

Just to be clear on my term 'ZERO' That means I am taking a loss in the game due to the geofilter malfunction.

It is. They are being whitelisted somewhere but not locally. I've had 10 of them just in the last 2 days. I've even deleted my entire list and reset the router just to make sure. Somebody has poo-pooed the cloud.
