It doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out that a lot of frustration between all parties involved is exaggerated because of the lack of clarity and common sense
At least start by creating an up to date pinned post detailing the current known bugs for Netgear, Netduma and customers to refer to so we are all on the same page then add any information for customers about current known workarounds for each bug until a patch is available
Why you guys aint done this already is beyond me

So you didn't learn that people need regular bug fixes in those 8 months? Not new milestones? New features are great but  fix the bugs at a regular intervals, new features can come later when we have had old bugs that have been around for 9 months squashed. Seeing Netduma being proactive in bug hunting and fixing those  issues inspires confidence, rhetoric about new features and zero talk about fixing issues does not.

Right now I have no faith in Milestone 1.4 because there are so many bugs from almost a year ago that are still not fixed in DumaOS. Why is that? I really want to know why in those 8 months no major bug fixes were pushed to users with issues with QoS and VLAN tagging and Geo filter issues, and the mess that's the device manager that is still being back to front in table view compared with Netgears own port map?

All these issues came with Milestone 1.3 in December 2018, almost 9 months ago now, Its a simple question, that really deserves an answer I believe. Why cant You guys just release regular fixes rather than making  a new milestone with zero fixes in between or just add new features along the way instead of lumping it all together in what will always be a buggy update, not because you are bad devs but because that's the nature of big software re-writes, they all have bugs, hence patches to fix these bugs after release. Patching only by milestone seems an insanely bad way of dealing with these issues in my view and a very easy way to lose your customer base. More transparency about what's going on would really help too, If the updates are DumaOS related why do you have to get permission from Netgear when DumaOS is your code?

NETGEAR has released firmware fixes or hotfixes for KCodes NetUSB unauthenticated remote kernel information disclosure and arbitrary memory read security vulnerabilities on the following product models:
XR500 running firmware versions prior to v2.3.2.56
XR700 running firmware versions prior to v1.0.1.18_BETA
D6000 running firmware versions prior to v1.0.0.78
D6400 running firmware versions prior to v1.0.0.88
D7800 running firmware versions prior to v1.0.1.56
DC112A running firmware versions prior to v1.0.0.44
EX6200 running firmware versions prior to v1.0.3.90
EX6200v2 running firmware versions prior to v1.0.1.78
EX8000 running firmware versions prior to v1.0.1.202
R6250 running firmware versions prior to v1.0.4.38_BETA
R6400 running firmware versions prior to v1.0.1.50
R7300DST running firmware versions prior to v1.0.0.74_BETA
R7500v2 running firmware versions prior to v1.0.3.41_BETA
R7800 running firmware versions prior to v1.0.2.63_BETA
R7900 running firmware versions prior to 1.0.3.14_10.0.40_BETA
R8000 running firmware versions prior to 1.0.4.38_10.1.59_BETA
R8900 running firmware versions prior to v1.0.4.36_BETA
R9000 running firmware versions prior to v1.0.4.36_BETA
WNDR4300v2 running firmware versions prior to v1.0.0.60_BETA
WNDR4500v3 running firmware versions prior to v1.0.0.60_BETA

The firmware versions that end in “_BETA” are security hotfixes. Security hotfixes are beta firmware created outside of normal development and testing processes. While the hotfixes do fix the security vulnerabilities identified above, they could negatively affect the regular operation of your device. Though our pre-deployment testing process did not indicate that these hotfixes would impact device operability, we always encourage our users to monitor their device closely after installing the firmware hotfix.
NETGEAR strongly recommends that you download the latest firmware fixes or hotfixes for these product models as soon as possible.

Does it include bug fixes for DumaOS in between milestone launches? Because all the new features in the world wont help if you don't patch the bugs that exist after updates, like the bugs that never got patched in milestone 1.3 and were not patched in the last update for some unknown reason, I mean Netduma did have 8 months to fix these.

There has to be a change of direction in patching DumaOS bugs, there are still major bugs from December 2018, which result in people having to turn off QoS like the VLAN tagging bug for instance. These bugs are still causing people issues 8 months into Milestone 1.3 and that's after that's a recent update too. No new feature set in Milestone 1.4 will fix what is pretty much a non existent patching cycle for bugs in DumaOS. I really hope you have thought and worked on this aspect of DumaOS's life cycle in tandem with Netgear, otherwise nothing has really changed no matter what you add feature wise. Maybe you need to slow down creating new feature's and  concentrate on fixing the broken ones first?

I paid for this router with my own cash and I expected the features on it to work as advertised and since day one of my purchase, which was just after the release date  I have been sat waiting patiently for them problems to be fixed and still to this day we still have the same problems with no end in sight its absurd.
Sorry if I offended anyone in this thread/website it is not my intention Im just feeling a bit fed up of the whole thing its gone on far to long

Any chance we could get a pinned post/posts that is kept up to date for each device within its own sub forum to express know issues and their current workarounds if any until a proper fix is issued
It would be helpful for people and keep them informed and upto date on the current firmware issues without having to search the forum or make new posts unnecessarily
It would also help people remedy their problems a lot quicker and easier and free up a lot of time for the devs and moderators

I know it wouldn't of been exact but it would have been better than nothing,
Sadly it was quickly moved from the support section to the off topic section which to me made it irrelevant so no-one really got to see or take part which was frustrating

Ok so you got me there, so they mention they have fixed some game prioritisation issues but what good is that with the basic flaw that you cant prioritise locale connections through the geofilter due to the cloud being fudged it kind of defeats the point
Also im not speculating im stating the obvious
We are only going to get any really major fixes in milestone 1.4 if were lucky, Netduma are either still working on milestone 1.4 or its either going through the testing process, see alex's comment above, either way why would they split their workload at this point we will not get anymore fixes between now and the 1.4 release and that is a fact and then and only then we have to wait for Netgear to push it out like i said don't expect it anytime soon.
Now your last comment directed at me about spreading fud causing unnecessary rest is rather uncalled for
I don't pretend to be something Im not, I say what I see and I am free to have my opinion and so is everyone else
What really is creating the unrest is having to listen to all the Bull**** and Promises about fixes coming when they don't materialise then having to wait another another 8 months plus only to be told the same thing
I ain't getting any younger neither is anyone else
We want what we paid for.

I disagree. It is something every company "can" do. Not every company "will" do is the proper response. You guys have the resources to push support faster than a snails pace, but you choose not to. It isn't a matter of can or can't. Its a matter of choice. There are many companies that can compile hundreds of gigabytes of data a year into a program or game. How much more complex can a few megabytes in a firmware be? Is there only 1 guy doing all the work? Why? Greed? Share the wealth and grow your company by employing more staff. Find the bottleneck and fix it. You are bleeding reputation. reputation=profit.

Last update from Netgear 18th December 2018 Fraser, thats taking the proverbial p*ss as I see it. Sorry I cant see the XR router range as viable at this point, especially as the R7800 (same SoC) received a beta security update last month and the XR500 has not. I find that concerning as what effect's the R7800 effects the XR500 as they are the same hardware CPU and switch wise.

The software definitely has alot of issues.......my biggest problem for the longest part has been the qos that simply doesnt work consistently........i've showed this with proof and eventually just said [email protected]#$ it as i hate wasting my time.......netduma os to me in theory sounds great but practically it doesnt work as intended and even when you prove it with all the visuals and stats to back it up, it just never gets fixed.

No router can really improve your base ping, thats down to your connection the  network and how hot your ISP runs things, if you have a bad connection a good router may just highlight its issues more. Routers cant overcome the laws of physics, also at this time the XR500 is in need of an update as for some the Geo Filter stops working. Either wait out the update and hope they fixed this issue (it will happen at some point sooner rather than later but it depends on your patience quotient) or go get something else tbh. Or if you just have contention issues on your line then there is really nothing that can be done beyond what you have tried.

first we get the release of the XR700 within such a small time frame after the release of the xr500 and now this i feel we are at the back of the que when it comes to getting fixes/updates/enhancements to our Duma os
