I saw that too, they are pushing towards AX as that’s the future. How long will the R7800 remain is questionable too.

So this was just posted...... i am over the update and bug fix crap but i also cannot just let it be........ this gamer has promoted the product on his platform all the time....... i'm not sure what tipped the scales for him but i know how frustrating the lack of transparency can be.
@Netduma Admin this is for your attention - alot of users are switching to other routers...... i personally have just tried to make the best of what i have (xr500) and set things up as best i could - my gameplay speaks for itself but i cannot not say anything and leave you guys to continue the way you are with no clear timelines on the upcoming updates.
    Use this as constructive criticism!!!

I'll have to agree, the R1 is old no matter what the admins say. Its 5 year old hardware, 600Mhz CPU, 2.4Ghz wireless only 128MB ram, when you could get a R7800 Netgear gaming router (without DumaOS) with Qualcomm's  streamboost QoS, a dual core CPU running at 1.7Ghz CPU and great third party support on smallnetbuilder for almost the same money. Id suggest getting the XR500, not the XR300 or XR700 they are buggy tbh. You need to stay with more modern tech as I see it, no offence to the team they work very hard but maybe send the router back and try the XR500 its a good router, they all have quirks as does any router from any manufacturer but the R1 is limited and old.

Can you not return this. The R1 is really old tech and if you want Duma the XR500 would be a much better choice or the R7800 which is what the XR500 is based on and can use third party firmware.

    Hey, welcome to the forum!
Those are Netgear features so if they said that they don't work together then that's most likely. I will say that not having any devices that can benefit from HT160, when I have it enabled I get much worse performance from my wireless devices and that was with smart connect off so I wouldn't recommend using it unless you definitely know your devices support it.

As newfie says very few devices use 160Mhz, bigger numbers do not always mean better throughput or data rates. Use the search engine of your choice but making informed decisions based on some research always helps

Devices have to support HT160 which there are very few hence why your devices drop. There’s also issues with IPv6 which are known.
stick the HT80 on and leave it there.

XR700 is now permanently back to the store. It wasn't hard to explain the shortcomings of the system which under warranty means the product has to deliver what is promised. 8 months is enough for the company to rectify things if they don't work properly. I have given you guys that, but I see no end to it.
My search will now be on again for a premium router that actually delivers what is promised out of the box. Not 2 years later.
Never again will I buy a router where I depend only on the manufacturer. I will make sure it can be flashed with 3rd party OS if the parent company can not provide functional OS.
Mement said it was about time to show compassion for your fanbase and customers. I would like to rephrase that into: It's about time the company shows respect to their clients. We entered an agreement when we bought your product, but that agreement has never been fulfilled.
I'm done here. No more NetDumbOS for me, thank you very much.
I wish you all good luck in a non-sarcastic way.

It wont last long at that speed and is not needed, on my 120 it comes on when the CPU hits 60C and it never has hit 60C. I really doubt your XR700 needs a fan on all the time otherwise Netgear would have built it to be on on 24/7, it wont help with longevity or gaming. If its a hardware fault or you suspect it is its best to RMA it. The XR700 is if you look around the forums buggy as hell though.

Also you will open up yourself to security issues, I really wish  Netduma would state that, because people can get hacked or have their LAN compromised on any firmware below .56 and no mention of at your own risk is ever put out when users are told to say try an earlier version. Not having a go here, just security focused in an age where there are always vulnerabilities around the corner. Also if you router becomes bricked by a security issue fixed in later firmware, Netgear will not honour your warranty on a earlier unpatched version.

Log into debug mode and see. Tbh the router will cool itself as needed, having the fan on 24/7 will just reduce its life and its not user user replaceable.

    Hey, welcome to the forum!
I would always suggest if performance is your aim then to try and use ethernet if possible. The XR500 will still be able to control the devices even if they're connected to the R6.

All the geo filter did for me was make the Tower empty of players, Destiny 2 also ended up rubber banding and booting me out into orbit quite a lot using the default settings for Destiny on the XR500. 10% sounds right but surely if you are the only person in the house you wont suddenly decide to saturate your network while gaming anyway...

Factory reset is the best you can do, unless you reload the firmware and try again. Honestly I would try and get the unit RMA'd as nobody should have that many issues with loading an R-App. Talk to Netgear or return the router and grab a XR500 its a lot more stable. Personally I have moved on to pastures new due to so many bugs alas, but the XR500 is a good router.

You are close to your cabinet and have the max attainable sync.
Normally 6db is the default  noise margin but as you are close you have 7bd because of more headroom.
It will just be the speedtests not being that accurate it could be you are using WiFi to run the tests (always use wired with nothing else using the network at the time), others on your line using bandwidth while you test or a little ISP congestion because of everyone being at home across the country.
I would be very happy with those stat's.
