Great advice above. This guide will also help make sure you set everything up correctly on QoS: http://support.netduma.com/support/solutions/articles/16000077073-dumaos-optimal-settings-guide-qos

If it continues, could you run a PingPlotter test as that’s the most accurate way of seeing what’s going on: http://forum.netduma.com/topic/23881-ping-plotter-quick-guide/

Do you have the bufferbloat set to "Always" or "When high priority traffic detected" or "never". If you have set it to never, then thats a given that it wont work at all. If you have it set to "when high priority traffic detected" then its only going to work when a high priority device is running. Meaning that, if you have your console on, the CC is on. When your console is off, so to is the CC. I prefer to set it to always. Another reason that might happen is the speeds arent correctly set in the little three line tab, If its still set to the default 1000/1000 then itll act up as well. Make sure to check all that stuff. Again if you want constant congestion control and the least spikes, always use "Always". I like it even if I lose some speed because web pages are so much snappier, the way a connection SHOULD feel at all times, thats why we pay for high speed right?

Netduma Admin got a reaction from Newfie in Numbers in device manager and device type query
Hi Newfie - welcome to the forum! Great to hear you are enjoying it so far.
This is the character limit for the device name i.e. you can only enter a device name up to 35 characters long, and so far you have a name that is 7 or 11 characters long! In hindsight, we probably don't really need to show this as it's a little confusing
Device Type is just cosmetic, so you can give it any device type you like, with one exception. If you give a device the type of a console (Xbox or Playstation), it will be treated differently in other features like the Geo-Filter and Traffic Prioritization e.g. all traffic is automatically prioritised on devices that are consoles. So just avoid the console type for now.
We plan to add a lot more device types in the future, as well as possibly allowing a user to manually add their own type.

Thanks for the feedback here. Fwiw, and I don't want to risk making an empty promise so I say this tentatively: but both NG and ourselves were aware the gap from launching on R1 vs Nighthawk was too long last time, so several things are being done to try and make it faster this time with Milestone 1.4. And we will do our best to keep improving the roll out speed with each milestone.
By the way - thanks for all your help on this forum, very appreciated by us 👍

Hi Moxy - just saw this. I will move the thread to support so you get faster responses.
One thing to look out for is that some Virgin modem's have a particular ethernet port for 'modem mode', and it's easy to miss. So take a look on the modem and see if yours has one. If it does, you need to connect the R1 to this port.

Nice job, looks like that worked on V2.3.2.32
May want to patch that in for anyone on later FW.
[attached] my snaps for the night, you might notice that occasionally it show an allowed player icon down by the Ascension islands - given they're British territories, that could be a hint depending on how you have defined region in your geo-filter cloud list.
I leave it with you guys to figure out why that may be...
    Thanks for the fix!

I totally understand that.. I think you guys have been doing your part.. And doing it well.. And I think you said it best on another thread.. That the real testing is when we the users get it because its in the real type environment.. An environment that is different with each user..

I would mention these to netgear.  They should not be happening, the locking of the firewall has got worse with the latest firmware and if they’re informed maybe they can do something about it. I’ve had ARP spoofing from my TV,  ascend kill and echo DoS attacks from my ISP’s dns servers and you should not have the router thinking it’s being attacked by a spoofed version of the default IP.  The thing is with all these false positive is the day something does happen it’s going to get ignored as “the router that cried DoS”  so this really does need working on.

Just to give everyone an update on what i did and maybe is there are any known/unknown problems

I did as suggested and removed the XR700 and made the virgin super hub the main router, connected to that and it was perfect, not a single bit lag was really good (And this was with the EX8000 and S8000 both incorporated into this) so i did at this point rule out the hub as a problem source.

After that i reconnected the XR700 and factory reset it also to properly try again. I had an unusual issue in which (maybe as suggested above by others)  in which the router would say that there was error no internet connected detected on the 1G connection however there was packets being sent across. I did various troubleshooting methods to make sure the superhub was fine and it was, my laptop could hardwire no problem. Having reset the XR700 many times it did finally pick a connection up and connected. However once back on it was still dropping connection while streaming/gaming. In my haste to make this work i did order a brand new replacement, and sent what i could only assume to be faulty one back.

The new router works perfectly, have strong and solid connection. Although when i connected it to the modem when first setting it up it had the very same problem briefly as the last with connection to the WAN port, and could not read download and upload speeds. After a little bit of messing about it did finally connect, not sure if this is a known or unknown bug. Thank for the support overall guys on here, i did cop out a little and get a new one but i was very committed to get the system working.

When you untick shared on both upload and download it spreads the bandwidth evenly over the amount of devices you have on the network.
There should be a way that you can allocate what ever bandwidth you like to your gaming console say 2mb upload and 5mb download which gives me smooth game play in bo4 but keeping shared access ticked at the same time for the rest of your devices to use the left over bandwidth as shared. Without using congestion control for this example, say I have 10mb upload and 100mb download. I allocate 2mb upload and 5 mb download for ps4. Leaving 8mb upload and 95mb download with shared ticked for the rest of the network to use.

I have a lot (50+) devices that are on my network - not all simultaneously, thank goodness, however it leads to quite a crowded Device Manager Network Map screen.  I would like the ability to "minimize" any given connection from the router - 2.4, 5, 60, LAN, WAN, and most especially Offline.  I believe the map will be significantly more useful if I can more easily see the devices instead of having an overcrowded screen.

I think this is correct as-is as far as identification since each connection is correctly identified as a unique NIC, however I strongly support your idea of a "merged" bandwidth control mechanism for pairs or groups of devices, rather than everything individually.  The option to group them for identification might be a plus (it's funny to see my desktop both online and offline), but I wouldn't want it forced upon me.
It looks like you can customize the names of things already, so you can label them to help keep them distinct.
