Netduma Admin got a reaction from Rallymen007 in XR500 locks up/reboots
Hi there - everything you’ve tried is very logical. The fact it’s breaking still post downgrade and factory reset unfortunately suggests this is a hardware issue. You should still be under warranty if you’re within 1 year. I recommend you contact Netgear for a replacement and apologies we can’t be more help - you’ve already tried everything I can think of suggesting.
Netduma Admin reacted to Killhippie in XR500 - Automated Scheduled Reboot Feature
There isn't a scheduled reboot feature in modern Netgear routers as far as I know, although I could be wrong, my R7800 and RAX120 dont have that feature in the settings at all. The old prossafe/prosecure models don't even have that from what I can find online either.
Netduma Admin reacted to Malt in Help with Vodaphone Fibre Broadband
The current vodafone router Vodafone AFF2EF autodetects the XR300 and names it as a XR300 with no manual editing.
If its not autodetecting and you have wired it as indicated , you either have a bad ethernet cable or you are using a crossover ethernet cable.
I bought and setup my XR300 less than a week ago and it was really simple , plug and play.
If you look at the ends of the ethernet cable (inside the connector) the standard wiring colours are (left to right)
white/orange orange white/green blue white/blue green white/brown brown and each end should be identically wired
the exact colours don't matter as long as they match at each end
here is a link to a diagram https://sites.psu.edu/wsithelp/2017/07/20/cat5-network-cable-wiring-diagram/
Each end should be identical for proper operation

My XR500 has developed an issue where it seemingly locks up and reboots approximately every 20 hours, sometimes less. I don't exactly know when it started happening but it's very noticeable since I started working from home 2 weeks ago. It worked great for 11 months and as far as I can tell nothing changed. There are more devices connected all day long and my brother got a new phone but I doubt a couple more devices on the WLAN would cause it to blow up spectacularly.
When it happens all devices lose internet connection (and DHCP if I try to reconnect a device before the reboot) and the router's web interface is inacessible. After a few seconds the power LED turns red then it reboots and resumes operation seemingly normally.
What I tried:
Factory reset with .56 Downgrade to .40 Factory reset with .40 Downgrade to .32 Factory reset with .32 Every factory reset the only settings I change are:
SSIDs/passwords LAN IP (from .1 to .88 because that's what I used on the old R1) Static IPs for my home servers Port forwarding for these servers Static router IP Disable UPnP My setup the XR500 connected over ethernet to an Orange Livebox 4 that really only does FTTH modem. XR500 is DMZ'd for gaming purposes. I did do a bit of dust cleaning inside the router with compressed air but it was clean already so no overheating issues. All IPv4 as IPv6 seems to break DumaOS to the point I get catastrophic packet loss on my computer.
So if anyone has an idea, or if there is a way I can access the pre-reboot logs to take a peek that would be great!
Netduma Admin reacted to Achilles in VERY Slow Upload Speeds on XR500
Okay sounds good, will update you once I've tried it.
For the record, CAT6 ONT is going to the R700P Internet port, then I'm running a CAT6 from one of the R700P ports to the Internet port of the XR500. From there, CAT6 from XR500 port to the PC.
Netduma Admin reacted to Ghost Gamer Broadband in Ghost Gamer Broadband ISP
Yes, we do operate differently to other ISPs. In respect to latency, we place all services that migrate to us on the Openreach NGA “SPEED” profile or “STANDARD” for WBC connections. This will prioritise speed over stability for online gamers and we do see a reduction in latency and an uplift in speed on circuits. In our experience, this is in part due to the fact the previous ISP (ISP dependant) will have had the line on a profile designed for stability from our experience. On our network we have our own blend of peering and transit. We are connected to both LANs on the LINX exchange and have manual sessions with most of the CDN networks who carry majority of the AAA game title traffic. All our core links within the network are a minimum of 10Gbps with a redundant hardware configuration. All our network is monitored in-house with over 2000 sensor points and pre-set thresholds for alerting and corrective action. We are always reviewing the network and happily take feedback from users for where we can improve an experience.
When things do go wrong (and they do) we don’t work to scripts! We are all UK based and understand faults are frustrating. Due to this we take a personal approach to each issue and its assigned to a dedicated support agent.
Happy to answer any questions people may have.
Netduma Admin got a reaction from Zippy in Tick rates issues and port prioritization
This is a great response. I'd really recommend undoing that list and going back to using DumaOS classified games as it will detect all UDP traffic on any consoles connected to the router (or PC's with a console device type e.g. Playstation).
Thanks for the tick rate issue. A little odd that one, we'll look into it.
Netduma Admin got a reaction from xR1CKJAM3Zx in Party Chat issues when geo filter is enabled
That's really strange because none of the connections are being blocked, so it shouldn't really be the Geo-Filter causing problems. Does this happen every time? Could you try again today for example and let us know if the problem happens again.
Also, could you make sure UPNP is enabled (go to Settings to do this)
Netduma Admin got a reaction from AzeRuS94 in Best settings for xr500
Yes you can enable UPNP too, it shouldn't cause any problems. Try that and see if you have an Open NAT afterwards.
Also I'm not sure if this has been said by Fraser yet, but have you put your modem into Bridge mode? Or made sure all ports are forwarded to your router? Follow this guide please:
If you still don’t have an open NAT even though all the required ports have been forwarded, you may need to use DMZ on your ISP Modem or on your DumaOS powered router.
First check if the Modem/Router has Modem or Bridge Mode as this is preferable over DMZ mode.
To put your DumaOS powered router into the DMZ of your ISP Modem, first navigate to System Information. On the Internet Status panel, highlight the number next to ‘WAN IP Address’ and copy it. Next, head to the interface of your ISP Modem and go to the Security / Firewall Settings. You should see a box labelled ‘DMZ IP Address’. Paste the WAN IP Address into this box and make sure DMZ is enabled. You have now successfully put your router into DMZ mode.

Those port arrangements are wrong and incorrect. Most of those ports you added are what the game says to port forward.. Not prioritize.. Also very rarely do you ever prioritize a TCP port. Usually you only prioritize UDP ports because those are the ones that are critical ones for in game use.. If you are going to set manual rules you just want in game UDP ports.. That's it. I would delete everything you have and start over.. You really only want to see the red light come on while in game play. Not when you turn your xbox on.. Btw your Source Port is very rarely the same as a Destination port. If you need help setting this up let me know. I have a few things for you to try..

And what happens if I connect those two consoles to the same Router with the same configuration? By the way ... I did not know this forum and I regret not having found it before, it seems to me a great source of knowledge and people who understand the subject.

Netduma Admin reacted to Netduma Fraser in Fix for "DumaOS not loaded yet!" (XR500 users only)
We had a temporary problem tonight which caused XR500 users to see a white screen which says 'DumaOS not loaded yet'. This is now fixed. You just need to reboot your router and the problem should be gone.
Please post in this thread if this solves your problem as we have developers waiting to make sure this is 100% fixed for all.
If you followed our workaround earlier and downgraded to firmware version 22.214.171.124, you can upgrade back to the latest version (.56) and you should be able to access the interface as per usual. The latest firmware is here: https://kb.netgear.com/000061157/XR500-Firmware-Version-2-3-2-56
We apologise for any inconvenience caused and hope you can all now get back to tinkering your DumaOS
Netduma Admin got a reaction from Netduma Fraser in Geo-Filter Server Location Improvements
We have updated the form in the OP to give more options. As well as servers we have in the wrong location, you can also now report:
Servers we are showing as peers instead of dedicated servers Servers that we need to permanently whitelist to allow you to play the game (authentication servers) Please let us know if we can make any improvements to the form.
Netduma Admin got a reaction from Bat 'n' Ball in Ambiguous Dedicated & Peer hosts (MW)
Thanks for the info OP. We will look to update our list of servers as we realise it can be a bit confusing. But to answer your question - you are correct, Choopa is a dedicated server provider used in CoD.
As for delayed denying - there's a deliberate 2 minute delay from denying a server to it then being blocked. This is to prevent people from kicking themselves out of a game whilst still playing. So you should find that you have blocked that specific server if you ever come across it again.

Yes, same device same settings from my R1, and same game BO3. No, I don't see any thing because it doesn't gets populated inside the circle so I was getting confused thinking that the triangle was the server, is there any way to get bigger icons or bigger legend, they are to small, R1 legends are better, bigger.
