The Future of DumaOS: Version 3.0 UPDATE: Sign-ups are now open for the DumaOS 3.0 beta! More info here: https://netduma.com/blog/beta-signups-live/ Last year we released our first major update for DumaOS, Milestone 1.3. You guys loved it, so we quickly got to work on the next milestone, packing it full of features to make your router even more powerful. This next milestone will instead be a new version, DumaOS 3.0, and it marks the biggest leap forward in our history. It will contain a huge amount of features never seen before on a router. Instead of just sending out each of the features piece by piece, we needed to wrap them all up into one giant release. We will explain why soon 😉 (but don't worry, we're not doing an EA!). We know you guys will want to get your hands on 3.0 as soon as possible and we are working very hard to make this happen. But until we are sure, the release date is ‘to be confirmed’. But in the meantime, here is a teaser one of the many features coming to your router in 3.0: Data History. With Data History you can see how much bandwidth you’ve used over time and drill-down to see which devices and/or applications are eating up all your data or find out how many hours you spent gaming over the weekend. If you are under a data cap, you can also see if you are nearing your monthly limit. This is just a small glimpse into 3.0. We will be gradually revealing more features over the next few weeks so keep an eye out for more announcements. One final thing, we launched DumaOS Insiders yesterday. This will be a private subforum where we share first-looks at features we are currently working on and using your feedback to shape them. There are only a few spaces left, so sign up here if you haven’t already: https://forum.netduma.com/topic/29480-sign-up-to-dumaos-insiders/ Big things are coming. Thank you for your support. About two years ago we made the biggest decision in our company’s history. We knew we had the best router software on the market, but we were not developing at the speed we wanted to. Every time we made a change, we were forced to repeat the same steps each time. Not to mention, a single change risked breaking other features. Netduma Dev Team c. 2016 We pulled the trigger. We decided to start-over again, taking all the lessons from our launch to design an entirely new firmware. We made DumaOS, the router operating system for your home. DumaOS gives us the foundations to develop new features, which we call ‘R-Apps’ (‘Router Apps’), at incredible speed. And we will be doing this from now on in a series of Development Milestones. Each Milestone will bring more functionality to your DumaOS-powered router, solving the real problems you face online. Netduma Dev Team - Present Day Before we go any further, some important rules: Predicting software development is tricky, sometimes things go much faster than you expect, sometimes they go slower. So until we are certain, the ETA of a milestone will always be ‘Whenever it’s ready’. The contents of a Milestone could change. We might need to defer some of it to a future Milestone, or we might be able to squeeze in some extras. Milestones may not always roll out to every DumaOS powered router at the same time or with the same contents. With the housekeeping out of the way, let’s get onto the fun bit: Milestone 1.3 Milestone 1.3 is the first publicly announced Milestone for DumaOS. It brings cutting-edge new technology, as well as old favourites, to your DumaOS powered router, enabling you to take even more control over your network. Ping Assist v2 Ping Assist is back, and it’s better than ever. Ping Assist lets low ping hosts to connect to you even if they are outside your Geo-Filter limit, helping you to quickly find high quality, low ping games. DumaOS Ping Assist is a big step up on the original Netduma R1 Ping Assist - we have rewritten the whole feature to be far more effective at quickly detecting pings – meaning you can find the best hosts on the planet much faster than before. The results are truly incredible, especially in games like Black Ops 4, Fornite, PUBG, Overwatch, FIFA 19 and many others. Hybrid VPN Another return of an old favourite. Hybrid VPN lets you apply your VPN to your entire network and also lets you choose the devices and applications you want to put through your VPN using DumaOS Deep Packet Inspection. This gives you so much more flexibility than a standard VPN, allowing you to keep the vulnerable areas of your network private and secure without affecting the devices that don't need a VPN. Hybrid VPN works with any VPN provider that uses OpenVPN (almost all do). Advanced Ping Stats There’s a new buzzword in town: Server Tickrate. This is the number of updates a game server makes per second. If your game runs at 60 frames per second, you ideally want a Tickrate at 60Hz (60 updates per second). Knowing the importance of this metric to our users, we have created Advanced Ping Stats. You can now see the Server (Host) Tickrate and Receive Rate, as well as your own Client Tickrate and Send Rate. This allows you to see the quality of your game's connection in far more detail than ever before. You can also pin to your DumaOS Dashboard for quick reference in-game. This is just the beginning for this feature. Now we are capturing server metrics we can do some cool things to give you an edge. Look out for more in future Milestones. Device Manager Enhancements The DumaOS Device Manager shows every device on your Network and you can now view this as a sortable table, to give you easier administration. We Need You! Milestone 1.3 is has been driven by user feedback. So if you have any ideas or suggestions for suggestions, let us know on the forum. MILESTONE: CURRENT STATUS Netduma R1: Released see this thread: http://forum.netduma.com/topic/27008-new-firmware-netduma-r1-dumaos-development-milestone-13/ Nighthawk XR500/XR700/XR450: Main development has completed and Milestone 1.3 is currently in closed testing. Stay tuned for more information from NETGEAR> To keep up to speed on future releases, please sign up to the DumaOS Mailing List.

When we launched the Geo-Filter back in 2014, it changed the way gamers experienced matchmaking. By giving you control over the servers you play on, you were able to eliminate the biggest cause of lag in gaming; distance. However, it's not always just a simple case of playing on the servers closest to your home - not all servers are made equal, and some can be lower quality despite being closer to you. We made Geo-Fencing to give you total control and solve this problem once and for all. With Geo-Fencing you can draw multiple Geo-Filters around the servers you like and block the servers you don't, giving you unprecedented control over the matchmaking process. Draw filters around your region or country, or only draw around the best servers in the world - online matchmaking is now in your hands. DumaOS 3.0 is the biggest update we have ever built, effectively doubling the feature set. Geo-Fencing is just one of many features coming to your router with DumaOS v3.0, so stay tuned for our next feature announcement.

I HAVE UPDATED IT FOR COD MW READ JUST BELOW HOPE ITS NOT TO CONFUSING BUT THIS TOPIC WAS STARTED A LONG TIME AGO It also now shows you how to traffic protize cod mw ports 2019 below I WILL POST COD MW PORTS jUST BELOW HERE these are the ones i found so far i will keep updating it with new ones here I recently upgraded to new dumar os fw and think its great but its missing one thing important i think In network monitor it now does not show you what ports the game you play is connected to uses In cod bo4 now cod mw 20019 i used this feature all the time In cod bo4 same for cod mw19 everytime you would join a new lobby it would show us new ports it was connected to. You would always be connected to two ports in every game this first port is always port 3074 udp the second was always diffrent ever new lobby you join uses diffrent ports If you stayed in the same lobby for an hour the two ports would be the same for an hour or how long you stayed in that lobby . Once you change lobbys the game changes ports it uses so you need to put new ports in traffic priortaztion I think this is why the connection keeps varying For cod mw 2019 its now three ports instead of two HERES WHY ITS IMPORTANT when i put in the ports it uses for that game in traffic priortization my hit registration would get a lot lot better i did this before on cod ww2 now i do it for cod mw2019 and it helped my hit registration .And on cod bo4 Somtimes i would do this during a game. i would be playing a game and struggling to get a kill then in same lobby same people playing i would enter those port number in and the hit registration was great easier kills same for cod mw2019 EVEN IF YOUR NOT PLAYING COD you still might need it for other games. i used it for all my other games to help get a better connection and i would like to use it in the future for new games I really dont wanna downgrade to an older fw just to use this feature as it was so GREAT SO ANY GAME YOU WANNA SEE WHAT PORTS IT USES YOU NEED THIS As some games it dosent tell you all the ports it uses I would love to use this for red dead redemption 2 online when its released soon Fraser told me if enough peole want this feture back in the firmware they would put it back in SO I JUST PUT A POLL UP SO PLEASE VOTE THANKY YOU So i am asking any who might use it before or might wanna use it in the future please vote on the poll here if you would like to see it in i future update I hope i made sence sorry for any typos And please post to say you would like it the more people who say they want it they saidthey would reinstall it if the demands there Thanks i have now edited to update for cod mw READ FROM HERE for cod mw 2019 and how to set up ports correctly From members who know how to set it up correctly below RL317 shows how to in this post below He knows more about it than i do ahe advised me how to set it up correctly Just letting you guys know i think now playing cod mw that the next update that the dumar has has to reinstall the older network monitor My hit detection \hit registration is now brilliant since i done these steps Heres why If you want your hit registration or hit detection to be great read this When playing cod mw the game uses 3 ports to play thats if you want godd hit detection \hit registration The first is port 3074 this is on ps4 i think its 3075 on xbox but i am not sure i dont know about pc The second port stays the same untill you restart the game i think this is the data centre or either matchmaking The 3rd port is changes every new game this is the dedi or peer your playing on Thats why you see new people every game and thats why you do good one game but not the next Thats because you changed dedis and the ports have changed So thats why you need 3 ports every game the first is 3074 the send is the matchmaking or data centre the 3rd is for the game mode you play Atm i am making a list for the ports it uses Just letting you know you can do this yourself to see what ports is needed but you have to downgrade to the older firmware well thats on netdumar1 I dont know about other routers Also this cane be done if you have a router with openwrt on it You would have to ask admins as i dont know anything about the other routers Heres a way to put the ports in traffic priortization Source 3074-3075 destination 30000-45000 udp rule 1 Source 30000-45000 destination 3074-3075 udp rule 2 Source 3074-3075 destination 3100-3500 udp rule 3 not nessasery optional Source 3100-3500 destination 3074-3075 udp rule 4 not nessssery optional HERES A LOAD OF PORTS TH GAMES COD MW USES Heres is a copy of my upnp settings screen after playing a losd of cod mw 2019 192.168.88.119 9308 9308 192.168.88.119 UDP DemonwarePortMapping 3074 3074 COVID-19 and what it means for Netduma

As much as I hope all the team is safe and not running any unnecessary risks, I'm sure this won't affect the deadline, seeing as the COVID vaccine will be ready and available way before DumaOS 3.0

    Caddy 1.2

I thought i would start this off with its own thread. I have expanded slightly from my first app, screen shots are below. now you can save and load your allow and deny list. This is very ideal if you have to factory reset. plus sharing of lists is possible. you can clear your allow/deny list with a single click. for those of you who are fed up of seeing your offline devices can with 1 click remove all offline devices that no longer hold an ip address you can also create your own custom black/whitlist just make a text file named with the following Server_Blacklist.txt Server_Whitelist.txt Peer_Blacklist.txt Peer_Whitelist.txt and insert ip addresses, only 1 ip address per line for example from where ever this file is saved just drag and drop into the white box, this will automatically add here is the file caddy 1.0 caddy 1.1 caddy 1.2 @Mobel @GHOST-1-EC @TrayDay @MikeyPython @Sable @WalkedDave @Bert @Locosano @Sherman85 @DanyKTM @Zippy @Grafti @Fuzy @[email protected] @HaBlo0

Sure - there's just a couple more steps to take, but at this stage it's extremely minor stuff. DumaOS is running extremely well on the R1. It makes us feel proud of the Mikrotik hardware if anything; it's clear that it still packs a punch! Just to clarify, we aren't going to release a launch date or build expectations this time. After the last delay I hope you can understand why - instead, we plan on dropping DumaOS very soon unannounced. It'll be ridiculously easy to upgrade, just like installing any new R1 firmware. Looking forwards, once you all have DumaOS installed you should consider it to be the beginning. DumaOS is cross-platform; any feature released for the Netgear routers should make its way to the R1 as well unless there are exceptional circumstances. This means fan-favourites like Ping Assist or brand new features will be released for you guys long into the future. There could also be unique features on the R1 version of DumaOS, such as an entirely rebuilt settings suite. Please don't take my word as absolutely accurate, especially later on - I'm just telling you what I know personally. I wish I could tell you an estimate of when it could be launched but it'd be defeating the purpose at this point!

I have been lucky enough to test this FW and the ping assist is working really well in Blops4 putting the geo in the ocean and setting the assist to 40ms giving me low ping UK servers. Seeing the tick rate / send and receive is a great new feature, learning that Blops4 had moved to 30HZ the other night before it was announced was awesome Using ping assist for me is the way forward with the way the servers are at the moment on Blops4 forcing you to play with people of your skill no matter where in the world.

I'm not sure why when there is a delay people think there is a conspiracy going on, development gets delayed all the time. There are several versions at the moment that we have been giving to users with various problems. We've just finished a firmware today that has WiFi improvements etc that is being tested right now. We know WiFi is important to people so we've been working really hard with users so that we can solve this. It's not even been three weeks yet so give it a little time for that to be tested and we'll get it released. If there is a specific issue you're having let me know and I can give you a firmware that is appropriate if available.

Hi all, I am in the process of going through all the Black Ops 4 servers available to determine if they are classified correctly i.e. Peer/Dedicated and to ensure they're in the correct location. I believe most are correct. However, I need a lot of ID's/IP addresses in order to do a thorough job of making sure once a cloud update goes out that I've got everything accurate the first time around. So please if you get a chance to help provide the following information by following these instructions (Written for PS4 but works on Xbox & PC). Even if you only have time for one it will be very helpful. Wait on the console dashboard Have the Geo-Filter set with Filtering Mode on, home location in the ocean, strict mode enabled. Auto Ping disabled. Boot up Black Ops 4, when it gets to the point where you have to click 'x', click x and then look at the Geo-Filter. You should see all the servers on the world map. Click on any one of these servers then collect (please only post in this format or it will be hard to follow): Server location on the map Host Type ID Domain Ping Your location Once you've collected this, quit the game application completely so you're back on the console dashboard and repeat. The more information we get from users the more accurate we can be when we do a cloud update. Post the collected information here. Thanks for your help!

Nothing changes with that. Think of the R2 as an addition to the DumaOS lineup. We’ll keep adding more and more testers to the R1 beta, and we’re working with Netgear to do the same with theirs. Biggest difference with the R2 is it’s all ours from the bottom up. This means we can get new firmwares to the R2 in the shortest time possible.

When will we be able to change the congestion algorithm that the R1 uses? In the last few seconds of this Netduma announcement video you can see the download graph and it looks like Cubic Congestion Control is used. This is sub-optimal for gaming since it doesnt consider roundtrip time or other metrics that are relevant for gaming devices in your network. And using Cubic is probably also the reason for why we are forced to set our connections to 70% to prevent congestion. Ages ago Iain claimed to have created a congestion control algorithm that in his lab allowed him to max out his complete connection while his ping only spiked by 5 milliseconds. Googles BBR Congestion Control is very close to what he promissed, is out for several years now and could probably be implemented very quickly by you guys. For those who dont fully understand what i mean here is a picture from google: In the last few seconds of the Netduma Video above you can see the bandwidth graph which basically looks like left graph below in the picture. This is bad and causes lag. What you want is the right graph it gives more bandwidth AND less lag. It has some downsides but those could be adressed by the R1 only assigning BBR to gaming devices for example.

In 2014 we built QoS to reduce lag caused by devices around the home. Whether someone is watching Netflix while you're gaming or a Skype call is raising your ping, we want to let your devices coexist without congestion to give you peace of mind. With Application QoS you can bring balance to your network by telling DumaOS exactly what matters to you. Prefer gaming to social media? With Application QoS, just give anything the bandwidth it needs across all devices at the same time - from web browsing to livestreaming. With the ability to switch back to Device Mode at any time, Application QoS will give you a level of control never before seen on home routers. DumaOS 3.0 is the biggest update we have ever built, effectively doubling the feature set. Application QoS is just one of many features coming to your router with DumaOS 3.0, so stay tuned for our next feature announcement.

Bullshit, skill is long ago gone in COD. COD is very connection depending. If someones server sync is better than yours, no matter what you'll lose the gunfights all day long.

Should have an update on this for you soon guys. Thanks for all your help.

You asked for it. (Like, a lot.) So finally, here it is: the DumaOS mobile app. Currently supporting QoS, Geo-Filter and Device Manager, with more features to come. Download links iOS: https://apple.co/3kCHZ8H Android: https://bit.ly/2RLQ0vA Please use this subforum to let us know of any issues, or anything we can do to improve the app. NOTE: It is compatible with all routers running DumaOS 3.0. See this tweet from yesterday for the current status of DumaOS 3.0 on each platform:

I've now owned the XR500 for 1.5 years and to this day: No IPv6 without killing off the QOS. No USB printer support. Incorrect network activity stats. No control over VPN settings. Bugs and glitches in the management GUI. Very questionable QOS performance is some games. Very poor update support. At this point this product should be considered as abandonware. Netduma's/Netgear's lack for transparency with such a vocal community is truly disturbing. There are other manufacturers with devices out there that have a much more active support than Netgear/Netduma and according to my preliminary research, as good, if not better implementations of QOS and AQM. I am no longer actively using this router and will soon be totally replacing it. Hats off to those of you who will be sticking around for the long haul, still beta testing a 2 year old AC router.

    DumaOS Developer Q&A

Nothing stopping us doing this - so it's good to know you'd be interested in a new router from us.

That tickrate is really good since now Developers can't hide this from us anymore everyone that is a gamer should own this router. You can't go wrong and it will only get better this is just the tip of the iceberg 😉👍

Hopefully all those who have upgraded are enjoying DumaOS on the R1. This thread will contain a list of known issues and their status (fixed, in progress etc). If you would like to report any bugs, please do so in the DumaOS Open Beta sub-forum - this thread will only be for confirmed issues.

Really, how much damage is YouTube and the influencers doing ... hahaha Everything they want to tell you, you believe it, even if the creators of the device themselves say it can't be, do you still believe the youtubers ... what will be next? if they tell you that with a finger in the ass you become immortal, are you going to try it too? Ha ha ha. Open your eyes and stop believing everything that people say that they have no idea!! A greeting!

    smooth cold war

If you are running DumaOS, and you are getting 60ms ping, then I think you hay have a few settings that may need tweaking And if you are playing on a 60+ms ping, rather than the more common 10-20 in MP and 30ms in warzone, then 'Call of duty' is probably using its algorithm for lag compensation, by throttling the other users faster connections to compensate for your bad one. I'm sure you must be playing on a better connection than 60+ms.... Also, if you dominate 90% of all lobby's you get in, the games 'Skilled Based Match Making' is probably putting you into easier lobby's than it should be I totally understand how people can complain about connection issues, when you have the servers dictating the speeds of the faster connected users over those that are slowing the server down. Its very obvious when this happens (in my experience). This has been covered in great depth on Youtube. For example how Tick rates work in MP compared to Warzone. The servers update 20 times a second in Warzone when compared to 60 times in MP, so you can clearly see why people experience the 'Super bullet' kills that drop you instantly in warzone. This is why the competitive 'money Games' community called for the tick rates to be increased on the servers that these players play on. Any half decent FPS gamer can identify a discrepancy in the way the game performs. For me, its like night and day if there is a problem with the connection.

Your all right it should be a R app, go look over the other threads, there are people who have been asking for a while for more detail to be shown, and many posts about targeting individual ports. There are many more things i can make in terms of what people want, if you want to see all the ports your device is using i can do that. If people only want their geo filter to show specific ports i can do that, as it stands your limited to what they give you.

Would be awesome is we get : 1- Auto BufferBloat or an easier way to detect the ultimate bufferbloat setting for each person. 2- "Dont Share connection" for specific devices at the QOS settings while all others share the connections together. 3-We would like to have that accurate PING test done by the router that the R1 had and for some reason it was removed. 4- Anti jitter 5- Auto connection speed detection Thanx

It's worth adding that Geo-filter wasn't designed in this way so you may struggle getting connected to very distant servers, and if you do the latency will likely be very high resulting in a bad experience.

Great news, the DumaOS Mobile App is now available on the iOS App Store and the Google Play Store! Check out the trailer: Mobile App Reveal.mp4 Download for iPhone here: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/id1532022492 Download for Android here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.netdumasoftware.dumamobile On this subforum we'll be offering support for the app version of DumaOS, as well as taking feedback and suggestions. The current version of the app is an Alpha. In future releases, we will be adding more features from the desktop version of DumaOS to the mobile version. You'll need to be running DumaOS 3.0 to use the app. DumaOS 3.0 is currently available on the Netduma R2, the Netgear Nighthawk Pro Gaming XR1000, and Telstra Game Optimiser. Beta versions are available for the R1 and XR500. Other platforms will be available soon!

    Warzone settings

The only way to get quality games in Warzone is to throttle the bandwidth down to your game console....qos >limit the upload and download to 2mb each and uncheck share excess....world of difference playing on my Xbox like this....netduma needs a feature where you can limit bandwidth to devices and not affect your other devices, when you uncheck share excess everything else suffers.

    Defeat MW Lag Compensation!

After various testings over the last few weeks I’ve finally found a way to defeat lag compensation on my end, when I was playing on servers in my country (UK) I was always a second behind foreign players due to lag compensation, so I used to always connect to the Spanish server or the Italian server to get myself on the better end of lag compensation, that worked for a while but then when the updates rolled out it began not to work. For about a week now I have had no issues with being insta melted and Hit marker bullet sponging. My solution is simple but please note that just because this works for me that doesn’t necessarily mean it will work for others, but hopefully it will. On QoS I leave sliders at 100% and then select Never. Then on the console you will be playing the game on (which is PS4 for me) Give it exactly 3mb Download and 0.5mb Upload (between 0.5 and 0.3mb) and untick share excess, make sure you untick both download and upload. You can check in PS4 Network settings: test connection to see if what you have set has been applied. I don’t bother with port prioritisation and I leave DumaOS games ticked. I keep my geo filter on strict with no ping assist and set it to 500km radius around my home country. I hope this can help others out because this game can be quite frustrating, MW is very generous with the amount of lag compensation that it gives to higher ping players but by manipulating your connection and making it seem like you have slower speeds it seems to do the trick of eliminating it.

Instead of downloading software and have less people complain about bufferbloat problems have something like pingplotter built into dumaOS and have a troubleshooting section for it.

    Xr500 firmware updates

I totally agree here... Ive seen slow firmware updates before on other brand routers as well but not like this... This approach we have now here with the XR500 is not the right approach at all. When there are issues that can be addressed then they should send out firmware patches once they have them.. Not wait months on end.. Another thing that bothers me is on the Netgear forum I see Netduma posting there to help those with issues.. But I never see Netgear folks post here on Netduma forum.. Theres a disconnect there.. Heres the problem with this current relationship we have here.. If we are on here posting with issues and need further assistance or help we now have to go over there and totally start from scratch with them with issues we are having.. This is extremely important when it comes to a issue where one might need to have there router exchanged for a new one.. Posting here on Netduma doesn't count even though it should.. We shouldn't have to cross post on two forums to resolve issues.. That alone is very problematic.. And by the time one does that there warranty is likely over.. I can easily see this happening.. Moving forward I can only say this.. Anyone new buying a XR500, XR700, and the XR300 id pay close attention to your return policy.. If you get close to your return policy date and are having issues just return the router for a refund.. That will be the safest course of action for yourself.. Don't wait for firmware patches because by that time one could easily run past there warranty timeframe.. And then your stuck!! Zippy.
