    Firmware in final testing

All software has bugs every router, every phone, every TV every operating system. It’s impossible to have tens of thousands to millions of lines of code and not have bugs or now and then regressions. Netgear is not the only company that has issues believe me. Sonys android firmware for their TVs is buggy beyond belief and if you bought an OLED TV in 2018 you actually bought 2015 hardware which is now out of date. This is the world we live in nothing is ever perfect but each update will bring something new to the table and maybe some bugs. The longer it’s tested the better chance we have of a good and stable final release and even though I have been one of the ones complaining I am well aware after many years of beta testing firmware and hardware that patience is at the end of the day is the only thing we have, we can’t control who writes the firmware we can’t control the company that publishes it, we just see how it turns out when released.

    Firmware in final testing

Special people don't have it, 99% of the consumers do not have this, only a few testers that have been testing with Netgear for a long time. We don't decide who tests Netgear routers, that is up to them. Once a firmware has passed all tests then it will be released. Part of the testing is endurance testing which means it must run for a certain amount of time without rebooting, turning off, disconnecting itself etc. That is just one part of the tests and that in itself takes a long time. I understand your frustration but please be patient, I imagine you'd rather a firmware that works but takes a little longer to be released than one that doesn't but is released quickly.

    Firmware in final testing

The XR500 is a very unique router. While I also agree its taking along time that is just the nature of the beast. You have DumaOS that has to be stable and then you have to have Netgears firmware to be stable. Then those two have to play nice together. Which can and does take time. More time then what your average firmware on basic type routers. That's just one example and reason. Now the more features a router has the more chances for things to go wrong. This really is a very complicated router tbh. The more testing done now the better. And if issues arise while testing a firmware as complicated as this im sure it will be delayed or take even more time to get things worked out. Which im sure will further delay any new firmware release. I have been very critical and harsh towards Netduma and this XR500. But if I wasn't they might feel left out and not loved! At the end of the day no matter the outcome of this XR500 I will still love the guys at Netduma for what they are and stand for. Life is to short these days to do anything less then that. No one has worked so hard and tried to give us features like Netduma has for us gamers alike all around the globe.. That in itself deserves credit where credit is do! At any point when or if Netduma decides to create another router of there own whether it be a R2 or whatever. I will be that guy standing in line to get one! Zippy.

It doesn't make sense that PS4 reports open and the Xbox is getting double NAT. It's using all automatic settings to connect correct? Just to test if you put the Xbox in the XR500 DMZ what does it show then?

    OVPN Manual Update

Hey Duma Staff, could we see an update to the ovpn client that would allow us as the user to update the client ourselves rather than having it update after every milestone, this would be extremely useful for people wanting to use an OVH as it only accepts the latest version at any given time. If this could be added that would be amazing! Cheers Guys :)

    OVPN Manual Update

That's a really good suggestion, I'll let the team know, would be a lot easier!

    Update Delayed

I know a few people have asked for this, it's an interesting suggestion and is already on our list of suggestions. We're revising a bunch of things including QoS for future updates. I hope it'll be soon too but it should be worth the wait

    Update Delayed

Hi Derlandes - I can assure you that we aren't going to abandon any DumaOS powered router for the foreseeable future. There is a lot happening behind the scenes, and it will all make sense soon enough. We're currently in a heavy development period, and all platforms will soon see the benefits

    Please read this everyone

I recently upgraded to new dumar os fw and think its great but its missing one thing important i think In network monitor it now does not show you what ports the game you play is connected to uses In cod bo4 i used this feature all the time In cod bo4 everytime you would join a new lobby it would show us new ports it was connected to. You would always be connected to two ports in every game this first port is always port 3074 udp the second was always diffrent ever new lobby you join uses diffrent ports If you stayed in the same lobby for an hour the two ports would be the same for an hour or how long you stayed in that lobby . Once you change lobbys the game changes ports it uses so you need to put new ports in traffic priortaztion I think this is why the connection keeps varying HERES WHY ITS IMPORTANT when i put in the ports it uses for that game in traffic priortization my hit registration would get a lot lot better i did this before on cod ww2 and it helped my hit registration .And on cod bo4 Somtimes i would do this during a game. i would be playing a game and struggling to get a kill then in same lobby same people playing i would enter those port number in and the hit registration was great easier kills EVEN IF YOUR NOT PLAYING COD you still might need it for other games. i used it for all my other games to help get a better connection and i would like to use it in the future for new games I really dont wanna downgrade to an older fw just to use this feature as it was so GREAT SO ANY GAME YOU WANNA SEE WHAT PORTS IT USES YOU NEED THIS As some games it dosent tell you all the ports it uses I would love to use this for red dead redemption 2 online when its released soon Fraser told me if enough peole want this feture back in the firmware they would put it back in SO I JUST PUT A POLL UP SO PLEASE VOTE THANKY YOU So i am asking any who might use it before or might wanna use it in the future please post a comment here saying they would like to see it in i future update I hope i made sence sorry for any typos And please post to say you would like it the more people who say they want it they saidthey would reinstall it if the demands there Thanks
