	Ten years ago today, we launched Netduma.
</p>

<p>
	When you’re in a startup, you spend most of your time looking forward. Rarely, if ever, do you look back. Learn from your mistakes, don’t dwell on them, keep improving.
</p>

<p>
	But today, we want to pause for a moment. It has been a decade, after all.
</p>

<div class="ipsColumns">
	<div class="ipsColumn ipsColumn_fluid">
		<h2>
			The Beginning
		</h2>

		<p>
			We launched Netduma from Iain’s parents' kitchen. Our website had just gone live, selling the Netduma R1—our first router. It was no wallflower. Frankly, it looked a bit like a fire alarm, only had 2.4GHz WiFi, but the software Iain had built was unlike anything else out there.
		</p>

		<p>
			We sold out of those first R1s almost instantly. The e-commerce site Iain’s dad had hurriedly put together held up well. Our logistics process? Not so much. That led to many all-nighters as we worked through the order backlog.
		</p>

		<p>
			When you’re a startup, it’s impossible to be good at everything. But to make it, you need to be exceptional at one or two things. We had two. As gamers, we knew firsthand how much lag sucks. And with Iain’s brain, we could actually do something about it.
		</p>

		<div class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed">

<div class="ipsColumns">

		<p>
			Soon after, we moved into our first office (to the relief of Iain’s parents, whose house had begun to resemble a factory floor). We hired our first full-time employees. Word spread about what our software could do.
		</p>

		<p>
			Bit by bit, month by month, we levelled up. We improved our software. We grew our team. We made mistakes. We learned from them. We kept going. And we repeated that over and over.
		</p>

		<div class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed">

	</div>
</div>

<h2>
	Looking Ahead
</h2>

<p>
	Fast forward to today. Our tech stack has evolved from fixing lag in games to fixing all bad Internet - for work calls, video streaming, and everything else. We’re partnered with British Telecom, Telstra, NETGEAR, Nokia, Genexis, and Mercku, with more partnerships to announce next year. Just a few weeks ago, our Service Provider business won the <strong><a href="https://netduma.com/news/network_x_2024_award_scale_up_netduma" rel="external nofollow">Scale-Up of Network X award</a></strong>.
</p>

<div class="ipsColumns">
	<div class="ipsColumn ipsColumn_fluid">

			<img alt="Future" src="https://blog-assets.netduma.com/Blog_Ten_Year_Anniversary_Future_7d3cca6c1d.webp">
		</div>

		<p>
			We’ve got a great team, great customers, and great support around us. And we’ve managed to do all this without any investment, putting every penny we made back into R&amp;D to make new features (more on that further down).
		</p>

		<p>
			If you’re reading this, you’ve likely been part of the journey. Whether it was buying one (or all!) of our routers, helping on the forum, or telling us how we could improve - you’ve made a difference. Every piece of feedback, the good and the bad, has helped shape who we are today.
		</p>

		<p>
			None of this would have been possible without the support we’ve had along the way.
		</p>

		<p>
			<strong>Thank you.</strong>
		</p>

		<p>
			But here’s the exciting part: we’re just getting started.
		</p>
	</div>
</div>

<p>
	For the past few years, we’ve been working on two groundbreaking features. When we first envisioned them, we weren’t sure they’d even be possible. One fixes bufferbloat once and for all, with no downsides. The other pinpoints the root causes of poor Internet performance, whenever they occur. These features are set to shake up the industry and will be announced early next year.
</p>

<p>
	While it’s great to look back on the past ten years, we’re even more excited about what’s ahead. A huge thank you to our elite team in Cambridge, our incredible partners, and everyone who has supported us along the way.
</p>

<p>
	Thank you,<br>
	Luke, Iain, and the entire Netduma Team
</p>

<hr>
<p>
	<strong>P.S.</strong> If you haven’t yet bought our award-winning Netduma R3 router, which runs the very latest Netduma software, you can use the code <strong>‘10Years’</strong> for <strong>10% off</strong>—this week only.

	Hi everyone,
</p>

<p>
	<br>
	We’re gearing up for EURO 2024 and need your help! We're looking to include streaming services from various countries in our DPI database, so our users can prioritize these streams on their DumaOS routers.<br>
	If you have access to any local video streaming services on your PC and would like them added, we'd greatly appreciate it if you could send us Wireshark captures. We've explained how to do this in the video linked below. <br>
	<strong>Important note: We need at least two captures of each service.</strong><br>
	For now, we're especially interested in the services listed on the UEFA website: <a href="https://www.uefa.com/euro2024/news/028c-1aac3485461c-41747e62ee85-1000--where-to-watch-uefa-euro-2024-tv-broadcast-partners-live-st/" rel="external nofollow">UEFA EURO 2024 TV Broadcast Partners</a>

	Hi, I'm one of the backend developers.
</p>

<p>
	This issue was causing small latency spikes of up to 4ms, caused by high CPU usage of the Data Usage Daemon (part of the Network Activity history feature). It's been fixed and now has 0-1% CPU usage all the time. This is coming to the next firmware, most likely next week.
</p>

<p>
	If you're interested in the technical details, the issue was caused by an unneeded system call causing malloc/free for every flow measured.

	Today we announced the Netduma R3, powered by DumaOS 4. Welcome to the R3VOLUTION.
</p>

<p dir="ltr">

	</div>
</div>

<p>
	The Netduma R3 has a mission of delivering solid hardware for 2023 while also launching with DumaOS technology that you’ve never seen before. It arrives with a lot of firsts for a Netduma router, including WiFi 6 and RGB capabilities.
</p>

<p>
	DumaOS 4 is a major standout that completely revolutionises how you get the most from your home network. Everything from classic features to the UI has been completely revamped, with several newcomer features that will change your game and THE game.
</p>

<p>
	Here’s a breakdown of some highlights from DumaOS 4:
</p>

<ul>
	<li>
		Geofilter 2.0, a whole new Geofilter solution that works more effectively for virtually any online game.
	</li>
	<li>
		SmartBOOST is the brand new evolution of QoS,automatically adjusting to give everything the optimal amount of bandwidth at any given moment.
	</li>
	<li>
		Steady Ping heralds the arrival of our long-awaited Anti-Jitter technology (that’s right, it’s finally here). By sacrificing a tiny ping buffer, you ‘lock-in’ a ping that doesn’t fluctuate. Now, every game feels as smooth as the last.
	</li>
	<li>
		And more, all in a completely overhauled UI!
	</li>
</ul>

<p>
	This thread acts as both the announcement and discussion thread for the Netduma R3 - ask questions and get as excited as we are!
</p>

<p dir="ltr">
	To answer some of the questions we expect to hear for the R3 and DumaOS 4, we’ve put together some ‘Pre-FAQs’:
</p>

<p dir="ltr">
	<strong>Will DumaOS 4 be coming to the Netduma R2 or NETGEAR Nighthawk Pro Gaming routers (XR500/XR700/XR1000/XR450/XR300)?</strong>
</p>

<p dir="ltr">
	We fully intend to get DumaOS 4 on the Netduma R2 - we’re expecting this to be a straightforward task so the wait won’t be long. If you own an R2 and would like to be notified when DumaOS 4 is available to you, please enter your email <a href="https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc2kXy_6lrlmoOr7UA8TahEMjksrDHwHTD2On1fXlsMB17Hyg/viewform" rel="external nofollow">here</a>.
</p>

<p dir="ltr">
	However, for Nighthawk Pro Gaming routers, we have some more unfortunate news: as things stand, DumaOS 4 will not be coming to these units. As you can probably tell, it has been a challenge getting these models onto DumaOS 3.3, for reasons outside of our control. We have been able to get the XR500, XR450 and XR700 onto 3.3 via  <a href="https://forum.netduma.com/forum/106-latest-firmwares/" rel="">open beta firmwares</a>. And this week we received an XR1000 firmware from NETGEAR (running DumaOS 3.3) which is going through our internal testing now.
</p>

<p dir="ltr">
	So as things stand right now, the only way to get your hands on DumaOS 4 currently is to purchase a <a href="https://netduma.com/order/netduma-r3/" rel="external nofollow">Netduma R3</a>.
</p>

<p dir="ltr">
	<strong>How much will the Netduma R3 cost?</strong>
</p>

<p dir="ltr">
	We always try to provide good value for the hardware we’re responsible for, and because of that the Netduma R3 is landing with a launch discount, pricing it at $199.99 (exc. VAT) / £179.99 / €199.99. This price point won’t last forever, but we want people who support us early on the benefit from doing so.
</p>

<p dir="ltr">
	<strong>What are the Netduma R3 hardware specs?</strong>
</p>

<p>
	We worked hard to decide the final spec of the Netduma R3. It has WiFi 6 with really good WiFi coverage across your home (we tested this extensively and it’s a LOT better than the R2), a quad-core CPU and all the RAM and Flash memory we’ll ever need. Our overall aim was to use hardware that was really solid without charging you guys and arm and leg to buy it
</p>

<p>
	The full list of the Netduma R3 hardware spec can be found on our site, at the bottom of product page. <a href="https://netduma.com/order/netduma-r3/" rel="external nofollow">Check it out</a>!

	<strong>Where can I learn more about DumaOS 4?</strong>
</p>

<p dir="ltr">
	You can check our website for more about each of the newcomers to DumaOS 4, and stay tuned for our upcoming video series covering each feature in a little more detail.
</p>

<p dir="ltr">
	<strong>Will DumaOS 4 arrive on Telstra Optimiser and EE WiFi Enhancer?</strong>
</p>

<p dir="ltr">
	Yes, both platforms will be updated with the latest DumaOS features down the road.

<p dir="ltr">
	<strong>Is the R3’s WiFi better than the R2?</strong>
</p>

<p dir="ltr">
	We paid special attention to ensuring that the R3’s WiFi performs well, to cover all areas as a solid router for any home. The WiFi specifically in the R3 is Dual-Band Gigabit AX3000, providing a far better WiFi experience than the R2 in terms of range and throughput.
</p>

<p dir="ltr">
	<strong>I have pre-ordered. When will my R3 be sent?</strong>
</p>

<p>
	We expect routers to arrive in December, and we’ll begin shipping pre-orders as soon as stock arrives on a first-ordered-first-sent basis.
</p>

<p>
	What this means is that while we can’t give a specific shipping date to cover every order, we expect that every R3 preorder will be fulfilled before Christmas.

<p>
	<strong>Can I buy a Netduma R2 instead of a Netduma R3?</strong>

<p dir="ltr">
	The Netduma R2 is now officially out of stock, and we have no plans for renewing the stock.

	<strong>Has the Netduma R3 been beta tested?</strong>
</p>

<p dir="ltr">
	Yes! A selection of beta testers from the forum have extensively tested the R3 and worked with us to make sure it’s great. A huge special thanks to them for helping us (and keeping things quiet until now!)

	I'm.currently having three issues the first is that steady ping while playing fortnite stabilizes during game then it has to continuously restabilise multiple times through the round. Happens every match.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	The second issue is on my desktop pc regardless of what browser I use I can't see the geofilter map. On Firefox it's completely a black box for the entire image and on google chrome it gives me an error code prompting me to reboot router or refresh page, both of which doesn't make the geofilter map viewable. Also I have cleared my browser cache and files and still a black square <span class="ipsEmoji">⬛</span>️ is all I can see with the geofilter
</p>

<p>
	The third issue is on the homepage is says for gaming activity 0 seconds no matter how long I've been playing a game. And I do have gaming under my smart boost as top and only priority.

	We hope you're excited as we are about the R3, we have a lot more information and videos to come so make sure you're following us on <a href="https://twitter.com/NETDUMA" rel="external nofollow">Twitter/X</a> &amp; <a href="https://www.youtube.com/@netduma" rel="external nofollow">YouTube</a> so you don't miss out. Below are answers to frequently asked questions <span style="font-size:14px;">regarding </span>the pre-order.
</p>

<p>
	<span style="font-size: 16px;"><b>Why didn't I receive an email confirmation after ordering?</b></span><br>
	Your email server may have blocked our order confirmation email. Please check your spam or junk folder, as it may be there. You should also look for a confirmation email from PayPal, which is less likely to be blocked. If you haven't received either email but are certain you placed an order, please email us at orders@netduma.com. We will be happy to assist you. Kindly provide your full name and, if possible, your order number.
</p>

<p>
	<span style="font-size:16px;"><strong>I can only enter part of my address, how do I provide my full address?</strong></span><br>
	You're on the cart/basket page, you can enter a few details about your location to see whether we ship to your country and the estimated shipping price. Once you go to checkout you can enter your full address and see the final cost.
</p>

<p>
	<span style="font-size: 16px;"><b>Can I change my order details?</b></span><br>
	If you need to amend your delivery details, please email us at orders@netduma.com. Be sure to include your full name, the updated details, and your order number, if possible.
</p>

<p>
	<span style="font-size:16px;"><strong>Can I get a discount?</strong></span><br>
	Absolutely! Use the code "GAMEON10" at checkout to save 10%.
</p>

<p>
	<span style="font-size:16px;"><strong>When will the Netduma R3 ship?</strong></span><br>
	Orders placed before 1pm UK time on a working day will be dispatched the same day. Orders placed after this time will be dispatched the next working day. Delivery is handled by the courier you select at checkout (usually UPS), with the estimated delivery time displayed when you choose your shipping option. All routers are shipped from the United Kingdom. While delivery estimates are very accurate, they cannot be guaranteed.<br>
	<br>
	<span style="font-size:16px;"><strong>Will the router work with my connection / in my home?</strong></span><br>
	The Netduma router is compatible with all Internet Providers worldwide. We ensure that you receive a power cable or converter suited to your country's plug socket type. Setup is quick and easy—simply connect the router to your modem, and you're ready to go.
</p>

<p>
	<span style="font-size: 16px;"><b>Do you sell to my country?</b></span><br>
	We ship to most countries. To check if yours is included, use the country drop-down menu when placing your order. If you live in the USA, UK, or EU, no customs duties will apply. For other countries, you may be subject to customs duties. If so, the courier (e.g. UPS) or your local customs office will contact you. Any customs fees will be your responsibility to pay.
</p>

<p>
	<span style="font-size:16px;"><strong>How can I track my order?</strong></span><br>
	You will receive a tracking number and link via email once your order is dispatched. Please use this link to check the status of your shipment <a href="https://mydhl.express.dhl/gb/en/home.html#/createNewShipmentTab" rel="external nofollow">here</a>.<br>
	<br>
	<span style="font-size:16px;"><strong>Do I need to sign for my delivery once it arrives?</strong></span><br>
	Yes, you will need to sign for the delivery. If you're not home during the day, we recommend choosing your workplace or providing instructions for the courier to leave the package with a trusted neighbour. If delivery is attempted and you're unavailable, the courier will attempt to redeliver on the next available day (usually the following day). You'll receive a message informing you of the attempted delivery before the next attempt is made.<br>
	<br>
	<span style="font-size:16px;"><strong>What payment methods do you accept?</strong></span><br>
	You can pay by credit or debit card (Mastercard and Visa), or using Paypal Express Checkout.<br>
	<br>
	<span style="font-size:16px;"><strong>Are there any hidden fees and subscription costs?</strong></span><br>
	No, there are no hidden costs or subscription fees for the features pre-installed on your router. However, if you want to use our Hybrid VPN feature to apply a VPN to your devices, you will need a subscription to a VPN server, which typically costs between $5 and $15 per month. Please note that Netduma does not provide VPN servers.
</p>

<p>
	<span style="font-size:16px;"><strong>What is your return policy?</strong></span><br>
	You can view our full returns policy <a href="https://netduma.com/terms" rel="external nofollow">here</a>.

<p>
	Hi Everyone,
</p>

<p>
	Today we are delighted to announce that signups for the DumaOS 3.0 beta are now open - this will be gradually rolled out to everyone who signs up, over time.
</p>

<p>
	This is a big step. It means that after many months of hard work, we are now ready for you guys to begin testing 3.0 on your DumaOS powered routers.
</p>

<p>
	<span style="font-size:16px;"><strong>What is in DumaOS 3.0?</strong></span>
</p>

<p>
	It’s named 3.0 for a reason. It marks the next generation of DumaOS, our router operating system. Not only will 3.0 come with a whole bunch of new features for your router, we have also overhauled a tonne of things under the hood which will make it far easier for us to get new features to you in the future.
</p>

<p>
	So far, we have announced four of the eight major features coming in 3.0. You can read more about each of them here:
</p>

<ol>
<li>
		<a href="https://netduma.com/blog/coming-dumaos-introducing-geo-fencing/" rel="">Geo-Fencing</a>: draw multiple Geo-Filters of any shape around your favourite server banks
	</li>
	<li>
		<a href="https://netduma.com/blog/coming-dumaos-3-0-application-qos/" rel="">Application QoS</a>: prioritize the traffic that matters the most to you by allocating bandwidth by application type e.g. gaming, streaming etc.
	</li>
	<li>
		<a href="https://netduma.com/blog/coming-dumaos-3-0-connection-benchmark/" rel="">Connection Benchmark</a>: run a pure test of your Internet line to find out how stable your ping is and if you are getting your full bandwidth speeds
	</li>
	<li>
		<a href="https://netduma.com/blog/coming-dumaos-3-0-traffic-controller/" rel="">Traffic Controller</a>: block any applications, ports or devices from accessing the Internet.
	</li>
	<li>
		Feature 5: Announcing Soon
	</li>
	<li>
		Feature 6: Announcing Soon
	</li>
	<li>
		Feature 7: Announcing Soon
	</li>
	<li>
		Feature 8: Announcing Soon
	</li>
</ol>
<p>
	Further feature reveals will be posted on our blog here: <a href="https://netduma.com/blog/" rel="">https://netduma.com/blog/</a><br><br><img alt="DumaOS_V3_1.gif" class="ipsImage" data-ratio="56.33" height="338" width="600" src="https://netduma.com/assets/uploads/DumaOS_V3_1.gif"></p>

<p>
	<strong><span style="font-size:16px;">How do I Signup?</span></strong>
</p>

<p>
	Netduma R1 owners - go here: <a href="https://netduma.com/dumaos-3-0-signup-for-netduma-r1/" ipsnoembed="true" rel="">https://netduma.com/dumaos-3-0-signup-for-netduma-r1/</a>
</p>

<p>
	Nighthawk Pro Gaming users (XR300, XR450, XR500, XR700) - go here: <a href="http://www.netgearinnovation.com/dumaos-beta/index.html" rel="external nofollow">http://www.netgearinnovation.com/dumaos-beta/index.html</a>
</p>

<p>
	<span style="font-size:16px;"><strong>When will I get the beta?</strong></span>
</p>

<p>
	When making a major software update like 3.0, it's normal for things to not be perfect at the start. So as much as we would love each and every one of you to get your hands on 3.0 right now, it would be risky for us to do it in one go.
</p>

<p>
	Instead we will be phasing the roll-out, starting off with a small number of testers. Once things are looking good, we will add some more, then more, gradually increasing until everyone who has signed up has received the upgrade.
</p>

<p>
	When we are ready for you to join the beta you will get an email into your inbox with instructions on how to join. Please be patient - we will email you when we are ready.
</p>

<p>
	<span style="font-size:16px;"><strong>Finally...</strong></span>
</p>

<p>
	We want to thank you for your support and patience during the development of 3.0. We are very aware that it has taken time. But it really has been worth it. It has allowed us to take DumaOS to the next level. Work is already underway on 3.1 and we're working on some seriously big features that will give you even more control over your lag and your network.
</p>

<p>
	We hope you have fun testing 3.0.
</p>

<p>

	Hey everyone,
</p>

<p>
	In case you're not subscribed, we've just announced our new mobile view for DumaOS over on our YouTube channel.
</p>

<p>
	This now means that DumaOS is optimised for mobile web browsers, with the welcome addition of some really cool new features.
</p>

<p>
	We'll first be releasing this on the R2 in the form of a new firmware, shortly followed by the NETGEAR Nighthawk Pro Gaming and Telstra platforms. Here you'll be able to use mobile view from the web browser.
</p>

<p>
	The long term plan is then to integrate it into our own App as well as the native Apps of our partners, such as NETGEAR and Telstra.
