#173001 Netduma R1 BROKEN - disconnects after 10-30 minutes of gaming via wired - Any...

Posted by purpleandgold33 on A week ago

This is kinda a long shot but I’m hoping there’s a way I can get a replacement netduma r1 router since I bought it less than 2 years ago, it’s already crapped out on me and they are not that cheap to begin with.

Problems started happening this Saturday, February 10th. I usually play call of duty ww2 just fine but on that day I played for less than half an hour before I got disconnected and then got a “DNS error” when I tried to reconnect. Both Ethernet and WiFi went down so no internet for the home and family. I tried ALL the troubleshooting steps. Tried resetting the router and modem at the same time (turn on and off as well as reset from within the router settings.) Tried resetting the modem first followed by the router and vice versa. As a last resort, I tried wiping my r1 to factory default settings, renaming it and changing the password. Still died within 30 minutes.

Then we brought out a replacement router (different brand) and internet is now up 24/7. Furthermore, called my internet provider (Spectrum) and they confirmed service was online for everybody else. So if this doesn’t prove we isolated the r1 router as the issue, I don’t know what else will!

The problem? I purchased it new from amazon on 8/28/2016.....can I get a free replacement under some type of warranty or quality guarantee? If not, unfortunately, I’ll probably need to just throw it in the trash since it’s clearly broken.

I have spectrum and had this same problem. Dude its your modem. When they came out and gave me a new modem I didn't have the problem anymore. Better yet go buy your own. I just bought one 2 days ago tp-link tc 7610. It is night and day difference in cod for me. Stablized my connection!

#169644 Major Announcement: Netduma partner with NETGEAR to launch the Nighthawk XR50...

Honestly I don't know why some ppl are frickin whining about duma os and not getting it until April. Dudes we are getting this state art software for FREE. You don't get anything for FREE anymore. I for sure can wait another 3 months for that. I already have a netgear nighthawk router. I'm not buying another one. The Duma changed the game for me. I really only play cod. But seriously I was one of the first ppl to own one and I pretty stoked that duma made it big time and I was part of it. Thanks for everything duma team and all the nice folks that help my dumb ass out when I can't figure something out with the router. Just my 2 cents

It's whatever works best for you, thats the great thing about the router, gives you control!

Yes sir, never had I moved the geofilter since I've owned it and I was one of the first ppl to get one! The thought had never really crossed my mind. But hey it works! You would think after making a game for a decade or more they would be prepared for the things ahead. Instead of throwing out complete garbage and just fix it as they go. This is one of the worst luanches I can remember.

The only problem is if something on your network is causing an issue and making PSN flag your IP as malicious, then you'll be banned again really soon.

Good god I hope not. I've never had any problems before. Don't know where this came from. Thanks for all of the insight!

This has nothing to do with the Netduma itself. The fact that removing the Netduma from your setup gets you unbanned is because removing the Netduma changes the associated MAC address of your modem. In the US most modem's get dynamic IP addresses based on whatever device they are connected to. When the modem restarts with a new device connected to it, they see a different MAC address which gives the modem a new IP thus the ban is gone.

Now the bigger question is why were you banned in the first place? 99% of the time this is because of an infected or malicious device on your network. The hacked devices are part of a botnet and when it's master sends the command your device and thousands other devices start to sending a lot of data to the one specific destination and the destination service is unavailable because of that. It's called DDOS attack.

A few years ago it was Sony's PlayStation Network service which was under this kind of attack. This is just one attack, but there are tons of them every day and companies need to protect themselves. Sony decided to protect itself by banning IP addresses of known attackers.

You can fix this and continue using the Netduma by going into Settings > WAN

Enable Clone MAC and then change the last 3 sets of numbers/letters to something else. It can be 0-9 and A-F

Reboot your Netduma from misc settings. Wait for it to come back on.

Then reboot your modem and it should be back online.

If it doesn't work you did something wrong. Try again.

You must be in the US on a cable based ISP with a regular modem (or a combo modem/router in modem/bridge mode) for this to work.

Ok modbox. So I understand this correctly. The last 3 sets of numbers or letters change them to whatever i want? Any combination of letters or #'s. Upercase or lower case, etc. I don't want to screw this up. Thanks again!

Can you log in to your Netduma by plugging your laptop in over ethernet and going through (if that's what you changed it to) ?

Otherwise you're probably going to have to factory reset, I assume that will reset it to

But whatever it was that you were doing, that got your IP banned, will get you banned again.

Moved to 'General Support'.

Colonic boom I got in I typed in the 151 and got into router and changed it back to the 88!
