#186964 Terrible hit detection in any COD

Posted by faulko on A week ago

So i just recently got the XR500 and its been fun fiddling with it but man, my connections in COD have been dreadful.

I have AT&T Fiber, 950 Down and 950 Up. I get 2ms ping to my local server and solid pings all across the US. Barely any Jitter and trace routes come back great.

There is your issue.

Ive found over many many hrs and years fiddling with modems etc you cant fix it yourself as the game balances the connection against all players.

Its the games stupid hybrid netcode bro.

whilst 2ms is great you are so far ahead of everyone else in your lobby the game lags you out to match others. And you get the results that you get. Seems to hard for the devs too match people into lobbies of similar ping, they just stick whoever where ever.

Try to force another server if you can and it should in theory be better. At least try and expand your geo range, you may not be directly connected to the server, your game data could bounce through another player before is reaches the server. If this player is out of your geo range then you will either drop the lobby or have a very miserable connection.

My only server has to deal with a massive space. Look on a map and just gaze at the surface area from New Zealand to Perth Western Australia then up as high as Japan, anywhere in that triangle are players i can be in a lobby with. Japan is normally only very late night or early morning but it happens, peak hour is generally a little better but not by much.

#184998 Firmware released

Posted by faulko on 05 July 2018 - 10:42 PM

All my Device name changes reverted back to their original names after the update. Caused the 'Device not found' and 'Uncaught Unmatched device' errors also.

Looks like it will require a factory reset as Geo-filter devices and Priority devices under the QoS won't load up to enable updating the device.

If people had auto update ticked and the router for what ever reason did an update big or small would that cause these issues.

Reason i ask is i went to update to this version only to realize i already have it, yet i didn't install it.

#173114 Net drops out, any ideas?

Posted by faulko on 16 February 2018 - 04:10 AM

Thanks Fraser

Did the time thing as you suggested.

Spoke to a different person at my provider, he suggested its likely their wholesaler doing a "flush" or something to that effect. He admitted its overkill doing it daily but it could happen.

Anyways he was going to put through a work order to have someone look into it further.

So it seems nothing Duma related.

Peak hour congestion.

No dramas gang, i can wait.

I don't need it but i think the extra processing power over the R1 would benefit me.

#166951 COD WW2 Tips | You're Using The Paratroopers Wrong!!

Posted by faulko on 15 December 2017 - 12:57 PM

Right idea to use them wisely, problem is retard team mates spawn flipping all the dam time because for what ever reason (SBMM im looking directly at you) they can just run around and do what they like, like flipping dam spawns.

Generally the spawns dont flip that easily compared to other titles we can be both thankful and ashamed of this.

#165248 Advice on gaming routers please adsl

Posted by faulko on 28 November 2017 - 11:55 AM

So for adsl you will need a modem router, either all in 1 or separate devices.

Im pretty sure Asus rt86? sorry forgot the name but its something like that will serve you well, its pretty feature packed.

Honestly thou for ADSL id just get a standalone quality modem and use the Duma as your router.

#165238 can not select Device under Host filtering tab, already tried suggested option

Posted by faulko on 28 November 2017 - 10:07 AM

Try naming your devices and see if that works.

Sometimes just having a IP number or nameless device it wont pop up in the drop down box.

If that doesn't work then try a reboot.

If that fails then i got nothing else to suggest sorry.

#164953 Home network setup

Posted by faulko on 25 November 2017 - 07:59 AM

Hi Guys,
First post, long time reader and user of Netduma.
I'm a network noob, DHCP, DNS, NAT and Static etc is all gobbly gook to me, so if you can help keep it simples lol
Here we go;
I have a modem > netduma r1, all work really well but have noticed the congestion flower is absolutely chock a block with unnamed devices, which affects percentages to each device etc.
What I was looking to do was have modem > Netduma ( with ps4, computer and skyQ wired in with wifi off ) > Linksys wrt1900 ( as access for all other devices to connect, either wireless or wired )
My thinking is that the congestion flower would have just the ps4, computer, skyQ and the Linksys wrt1900 showing, and I can then control bandwidth to the Linksys which can have all the devices it wants and I would only have one control point ( hope that made sense )
So is there someone who can give me a step by step guide on how to do that, or direct me to a page that shows me.
Hope this made sense, Cheers in advance

Yes would work to your desired levels as you describe.

#164671 Best WW2 setting that works for you?

Posted by faulko on 22 November 2017 - 10:28 AM

You gotta lower your CC dude. i run 50/50 mostly and it seems ok, suome run 70/70 but i doubt there is a sweet spot if you have turbo mode.

#144583 Wan and LAN MTU?

Posted by faulko on 29 March 2017 - 01:34 AM

My MTU is suppose to be 1492. That's what I changed it to in the LAN and WAN sections because it asks for it under both of them. I don't really understand why either. But it didn't make sense to me to leave LAN on auto but change WAN to 1492 so I changed both. I'll recheck with ISP but even when I did the MTU check using ping I had used the correct one. I was just wondering what would happen if you used a lower or different MTU on either for example 1500 LAN 1492 wan etc. I'm assuming you'd have packet loss?

Not packet loss but pack fragmentation.

MTU or maximum transmission units is the max size a packet can be, if your device has bigger mtu then your isp transmits, then it will fragment into 2 smaller packets, repackage and resend, ie ping loss because it takes longer to get your message across.

Same with undersized MTU, you isp is requesting 1492, you throwing 1400 at it it will need to fill the packets to 1492 and resend, again ping increase.

Thats my understanding of it, happy to be corrected if im wrong, but as mentioned just leave it at auto unless you have larger then expected pings.

#143092 I can see Wifi but can't connect

Posted by faulko on 15 March 2017 - 01:39 PM
