#179411 Anyone with the XR500 opinions and thoughts

Posted by Tai N on 22 hours ago

Yeah my oldest son always tells me to make vids for youtube. But the market is so oversaturated with that so I don't. There are a lot of ppl that are way better than me too. Cod is basically based on if you have a good crisp connection and if you have good aim your going to wreck. If you don't then your screwed. I'll see if I can get some vids up. I'll have to ask my kid how to do that cause I have no idea, lol

I just wanted to see what it looks like for a fellow MN mate. To share you should be able to just press the share button on the left top of the ps4 controller if that's what you're on, and then just sign into youtube and upload since the ps4 records all your activities. Here's one of mine with good connection just recorded from my ps4 pro. Don't laugh at me! :P

Spoiler

Wow I didn't know John got an XR500, I thought he was just using what his provider gave him, plus he always plugs the R7800 Nighthawk. Good on him.

I think he did at least, he now advertises the xr500 router in his video description instead of the R7800.

#177966 im confused is their a new firmware update?

Posted by Tai N on 2 weeks ago

I don't think so, as long as you are on version 1.03.6 h/i/j DumaOS is coming on the 17th Tuesday, but besides that everything is all well.

If you are on lower than 1.03.5m - it says to not upgrade yet.

I think this might be the latest version?

#177885 Duma OS

Posted by Tai N on 2 weeks ago

I haven't been getting any good gameplay with cod ww2 & bo3 with the r1 lately, but it could just be the cod servers aren't doing so well either. I'm getting bad lag comp. over here ffs.

I'm hoping it will make my gameplay more enjoyable with the new os, if not, I'm going to get the xr500 and that'll be it. If that doesn't work, I'm fucked forever damn it. Might have to move somewhere close enough so the server is in my backyard with google fiber because game is life fam

#177573 Are these results okay? (Pingplotter Graph)

Posted by Tai N on 2 weeks ago

Twitters server is based a bit away from you as I can tell by your ISP hops being 26ms before it hops to Twitter at 50ms.

So your base ping is nearer to 26ms, if you ping a closer server to yourself you would get better results.

The plots look fine you have the odd spike but it is nothing to worry about really.

I do not use any bandwidth allocation and use share excess with 70% congestion control as this works best for me, you will only see the benefits if you test while downloading and saturating your line as that is what congestion control is a control for local congestion :)

Ah, I didn't know that. Thanks for this information!

#176555 Docsis 3.0 Model TC-7610 Modem

Posted by Tai N on 4 weeks ago

I have it now, I used to use this Ubee modem that was super old, and compared to this modem I notice my Ping was more stable, but gameplay wise I don't think I noticed a huge difference, but the game I was testing it out on was CoD WW2 and that game is just weird overall.

Congratulations all, they've been very helpful in helping me with suggestions for a new modem :D

#175182 Do different kinds of modems matter?

Posted by Tai N on 09 March 2018 - 03:42 PM

I was wondering if your type of modem matters when gaming since I'm always looking for ways to improve my connection or ping whatever you want to call it, lets just say gameplay as smooth as possible. What are some type or specific modems you guys recommend? Does your isp matter in this type of situation? I know some people will say if it ain't broke, there's no need to fix or change, but honestly this modem looks like a game boy color and it has to go in the trash (time for a new updated one)

I have Charter Spectrum and live in Minnesota Duluth, I think my parents are using this ugly beatup modem made by Ubee I think it's called?, this thing looks like trash and it's small, so I'm probably going to do some research on modems and thought I'd have your guys' input on this and personal preferences from experience with this type of stuff.

I've seen this topic here, and will also be checking on this ping plotter everyone has been recommending.

#174737 Query on keyboard and mouse.

Posted by Tai N on 06 March 2018 - 02:24 AM

Yeah, it's possible. I think it's been happening for quite some time now. Check out cronus max, not sure if you heard about it yet, but it basically makes it so you can use any controller like xbox controller and use it for ps4 or use mouse and keyboard to play ps4. You can use any mouse and keyboard with cronus max. I'm not sure if there's anything else, I've heard of eagle eye, but I heard cronus max was a very popular controller-changing type of thing.

#173120 Have a few questions in general

Posted by Tai N on 16 February 2018 - 07:34 AM

This is very helpful, thanks! You're right about the modded lobbies thing, sometimes I like to play black ops 2 with my cousins on ps3 and there are too many modded lobbies, but never have experienced a modded lobby on ps4 pro for black ops 3 or cod ww2 yet so far.
