#170801 Have internet but apps wont load

Posted by Netduma Iain on A day ago

Update from Bitdefender on how to whitelist a website. Please do this for http://routerlogin.net and http://192.168.1.1:

To add a website to the Whitelist:

1. Click the B icon on the left sidebar of the Bitdefender interface.

2. Click the VIEW FEATURES link.

3. In the WEB PROTECTION pane, click Whitelist.

4. Provide the address of the blocked website or online application in the corresponding field and click Add.

5. Click Save to save the changes and close the window.

Only websites and applications that you fully trust should be added to this list. These will be excluded from scanning by the following engines: malware, phishing and fraud.

Hi PuppetMaster,

Below is their intial response. However I think adding chorome to the exception list may be not be the best solution. So I've asked them for a more refined solution. Below is their response in the meantime :)

In order to resolve this situation, please add the software to the Bitdefender exclusions lists. To do that, please follow the steps below:

A ). Exclude the files from being scanned by the Bitdefender Virus engines

  1. Open the main interface of Bitdefender 2018 then click on the menu button from the upper left corner.
  2. Select Protection from the left sidebar, then click on View Features from the right side of the window.
  3. Click on the gear icon under Antivirus, then select the Exclusions tab
  4. Click on the Add button next to List of files and folders excluded from scanning
  5. Click browse, locate the files you wish to exclude, then click on OK
  6. Choose whether to exclude the files from  on-access scanning , on-demand scanning or both, then click on Add.
B ). Exclude the process from being monitored by the Advanced Threat Defense module, which relies on identifying malware based on the behavior of the applications:

  1. Open the main interface of Bitdefender 2018 then click on the menu button from the upper left corner.
  2. Select Protection from the left sidebar, then click on View Features from the right side of the window.
  3. Click on the gear icon under Advanced Threat Defense.
  4. Click on “Add applications to the whitelist”
  5. Select the process for the application you wish to exclude (a .exe file normally) then click on OK.
After you follow these steps, please restart the computer and check if the issue persists.

Hi hlee,

Which router is this xr500 or r1?

Please post a screenshot of your settings so we can assist you further. Both congestion control and geo-filter.

Oh ok great to hear. I'll be testing that in the office today and I'll let you know our findings.

And this definitly not a static target. The NG team were impressed how big our roadmap is :D

I'll be asking their team about an early access programme for xr500 customers. So they can get updates quicker. Keep an eye out on the forum.

Finally I'll respond here with my findings.

#170591 Bufferbloat issues on xr500

Posted by Netduma Iain on 3 days ago

Hi Dire,

It is most likely our auto-qos feature. Are you on the latest version? Look in the top right corner if DumaOS there is a sort of circle button. If you can click it that means you can upgrade to a new version.

The new version improves the usability of the QoS R-App. Once you're upgraded you'll see three options when to apply anti-bufferbloat: always, when high priority traffic is detected or never.

I think you've got only when high priority traffic is detected. This means we only reduce your bandwidt to the sliders when you're gaming and when you're not we allow full speeds. So the user doesnt have to remember to move sliders back to 100%.

If you want to disable auto-qos and behave like the r1 select Always for when to apply.

Hope that helps :)

Hi maul,

Firstly thanks for being an early adopter on both the r1 and the xr500.

Have you upgraded to the latest version? You can tell becuase in the top right corner of DumaOS you see a small circle like button that you can click. If you can click it then you'll upgrade the router to the lastest version of DumaOS.

The reason you're seeing different speeds is due to the new Auto QoS feature. It only applies your buffer bloat settings when you're playing games. That way you get low latency when playing and full bandwidth when you're not.

Hope that makes sense, if not let me know. Also please let me know if you've upgraded. :)

#170351 Geo-Filter Map on the DumaOS

Posted by Netduma Iain on 4 days ago

Hi Mustange, Raddy is showing you a trick to zoom. It's not really a solution. We'll add more zoom next week. Also I'm going to ask NETGEAR if you early adopters for XR500 can get an 'Early Access' programmer going. Allowing you to get the DumaOS updates much quicker. No guarantee yet, it's a decision for their software quality team.

#170349 New to the forum

Welcome to the forum buddy. In my opinion the only reason to go r1 would be the price difference. The XR500 future proofs you due to the hardware spec. Internet speeds are increasing worldwide and unfortunately the R1 wifi is limited to under 100mbits and some of the features won't work at high speeds (if I recall correctly 400mbit and above for wired).

You can get round Wi-Fi issue if you have another ac router by putting it behind the R1 in access point mode. But the high speed QoS unfortunately will not be possible on the R1 due to the processor.

Hope that helps :)

#170280 XR500 & LINSKY Combo

Posted by Netduma Iain on 4 days ago

DumaOS in access point mode disables the main features as it is not routing anymore.

I'd highly recommended not using the linksys or lede. Any rumours on this forum about lede/cake are placebo in my opinion. BB only matters when others are using the network and the xr500 has you covered at all speeds with zero software jitter.

#170279 Some DumaOS/Netgear issues

Posted by Netduma Iain on 4 days ago

Hi ExtraCrispy,

Have you got the R-App not loaded issue right now?

If so the easiest way to fix it is to hard reset. You do that by gettiing a thin object and pushing it in the hole at the back of the router. Keep pushing for 20 - 30 seconds ( its a longer than you think ). Then release and let the machine start. Do not turn it off.

Does this fix the issue?

Also do you remember what you did to bring it back? One thing to remember, if you've restarted your router and go immediately to the ui you'll get r-app not loaded on the Geo-Filter as it takes 2 mins to start

Hope that helps :)
