Any just thought I would be first to say "well done" as I didn't think the cat would!

#147640 Modem Mode

Posted by Macca61 on 30 April 2017 - 12:16 PM

Hi Speedy, and welcome to the forum :)
Who is your ISP, is it Virgin? You should have it in modem mode and the Netduma connected to the Virgin SH and your devices connected to the Netduma.
I used to be on Virgin, and had the same set up with no problems. If I remember correctly when you put the SH in modem mode connect the Netduma and reboot the Netduma.

As for your computer being on, once you decide on your settings in congestion control etc and save them just ensure that the cookies is ticked in the miscellaneous settings.
Hope this helps :)

#147631 just got the netduma getting lag never got before

Posted by Macca61 on 30 April 2017 - 09:42 AM

The Netduma will NOT increase any lag you may be experiencing. Ensure you put the speeds your ISP says you are getting into the Congestion control on your R1.
Use one of the specific speed testers like Ookla for your speed tests and do it a few times to get an idea what you are getting.

Have you got t it set up correctly, ISP>Netduma>devices, on the miscellaneous page you should untick IVp6 .
If you look at the Wiki pages on the forum there are tutorials to show you how to set it up for your speeds etc. :)

#147466 Anyone still play BO3? (EU)

Posted by Macca61 on 28 April 2017 - 10:34 AM

I have given up on IW and just play BO3, and have had some good games recently.
Only tend to play HCTDM but hey ho ........ :)

#146946 Call of Duty 2017, your hopes and wishes.

A game that is FUN to play! That would be my idea of Utopia :)

#146795 Why did you purchase the Netduma router?

Posted by Macca61 on 20 April 2017 - 06:19 PM

Pretty much the same for me as Bagsta say's, Didn't watch any YT videos other than one from Sim, and that sort of made my mind up for me.
It does what it says on the tin, and helps you select your region you wish to connect to.

Unfortunately it can't fix all the other variables you now get in gaming :)

#146740 Not a lot of sports

Posted by Macca61 on 20 April 2017 - 11:58 AM

something about sports

That was the problem, there was no sport! Just some pesky cat sticking it's paws in where they weren't wanted, or needed.

The status quo has returned, and no I don't mean three three cord musicians as now it would only be two,

See what I mean about no sports! :) no sports know cats period! :)

#145424 IW: Tactical TDM De-Atomizer Strike & Juggernaut Medal

Posted by Macca61 on 04 April 2017 - 04:25 PM

Never had, or likely to get one, unless I get in a supply drop Lol :)
Been on the receiving end of a few, play HCTDM, and yesterday a guy on the opposing team got 50-1 kills, but didn't drop the Atomizer!

#145314 Something has changed with IW

Posted by Macca61 on 03 April 2017 - 03:49 PM

I have been having a "mare" on IW. Plays awful for me most of the time, I was beginning to think it was me! :).
But went on BO3 and it was good, for me at least. On IW I am getting a lot of
Closed lobby
Server rejected our request
Getting put in games with no team mates or opponents
Getting put in games with no opponents
Getting put in a lobby when the game is finishing

BUT I am keeping at it because I refuse to be beaten! Lol

#144620 Buffer bloat results

attachicon.gifanti flood 60.png

my mistake posted the wrong picture my anti flood was set to 60/60 and this proved the best results on DSL Report test

No probs, I found that during different times of the day the sliders went up, or down depending on the results. There is a video on YT by Sim that goes into it in greater detail, it's worth a look.

I got into the habit of just testing it just before I played and then alter the sliders accordingly. But to be honest the games are so inconsistent I don't bother anymore I just jump in :)

#144615 Buffer bloat results

Posted by Macca61 on 29 March 2017 - 09:45 AM

Yes, it is common I spent hours doing it one day and almost every test was different. Your idle will be high with your sliders set at 100%. Try reducing in down to 70% as a starting point, and wait at least 5 mins before each test.

Have you tried ping plotter, this will give you a more detailed analysis of what is going on with your line. DSL reports will only give you a snap shot of what is happening during that specific test. PP can give you a lot more data over the duration of the test, minutes/hours etc

You can then interpret the results your self or post them on here if you are not sure what it means :)and some one will be able to advise you
