inconsistent bandwidth

Hi yall, Just wondered what effect the inconsistent bandwidth I am getting will have on my router.

I can do a speed test at different times of day and even the same time and get very different results.

sometimes I will get download of 25MB and Up of 6MB, another time it may well be 11 and 1.3 at different times and also at the same time on different days.

ping is consistent at 34 ms and good on the R1 internet line test, exceptional for the other catergories and 0 jitter / packet loss.

I am with BT infinity fttc.

Would I have to do a test before gaming and change it depending on what I was getting at the time or could I just set it to best results or worst result.

Cheers in advance.

I don't think that this would affect your gaming experience at all :) Games use a minimal amount of bandwidth and your ping seems to be concisely good. Only issue that may occur is with other people using your internet when you have not got a lot of bandwidth.

Thanks for that crossy, so probably set it to best results I get then limit it to 70% when gaming.

Only the wife sharing my connection when I am gaming and that is either a laptop watchng news or searching ebay or a kindle playing gem fally down games.

Cheers Fraser, one last quick question if I may? Im guessing that my ping is the result of the last jump of my connection to my home and that is a steady 34 ms, so with this in mind am I correct to assume there would be no point in setting ping assist below this number?
