last nights connection

Mine went to crap around 9:30-10:00pm MT U.S. Pings were up to 150ms and two bar in game. I also notice when this happens if you do a speed test on PS4 it will show REALLY slow speeds, mine were as low as 7mps down .788mps up. My internet was operating at full speed, so I'm guessing it has to do with Sony's servers.

So this is just a theory of mine, and it may just affect people who are farther off the grid like myself. I think when things get busy on the Internet in the evenings mostly, people like me in remote areas will start to suffer sooner and more than most when it comes to ping. Sony's congestion problems are probably not to different either ie busier times of day create more strain on the limited network we have in place. Take a look at this internet network map, I'm in the big black spot otherwise know as Montana lol.

I'm almost positive it's a congestion issue, I checked all connections this morning all good. Ping to the ded I use the most was 45ms played a few games and- this was the last three games I played last night with 100+ms ping and two from this morning with less than 50ms ping. Holly WOW ping is king!!!

Yeah i've been saying that for weeks. They definitely have something going on with their servers and have had for some time.Sony's got maintenance scheduled tomorrow,so maybe they'll fix some things.

And don't get me started on Charter Communications and their issues with line quality and jitter cuz i'm at war with them right now.

Well guy's I know it's easy to point blame at one person(or thing). But congestion during peak usage hours, most the time is related to your own ISP, and the routing path they're using during that period. That is not to say there isn't congestion issue's related to the dedi server's during prime time hours. I'm just pointing out these kind of problem's normally start out a little closer to home then you would think.

How's gaming on the islands? What kind of pings do you get on average?

It's pretty terrible for FPS gaming. The netduma has been amazing though. Prior to this router, I'd say about 90% of the lobbies I'd get placed in were just horrific, with unplayable, WTF lag. Now, I can limit the lobbies to just the West coast where I can get a ping of 65-70 ms on the low end. It's not great, but at least I can compete a little better with that kind of connection. Rarely, there will be a player hosted lobby in Hawaii and I get to experience what everyone else raves about when the connection is really good.

Back on topic, I watched ping climb last night again after melting fools all day with 40ms steady. It was over 100ms until after 2:00am MT U.S. Then it drops right back to a steady 40ms, which is great for me feels silky smooth. I believe it's more of a demographic issue rather than my ISP because my test results don't seem to change, only connection to PSN suffers. I believe there is a lack of infrastructure on the western US again jmho.

So I did some more testing last night after beasting all day on A.W, got my KD positive finally! Anyway when my ping started to climb last night around 7pm I wanted to check ping to other major servers other than PSN's to see if was my ISP or just a demographic issue. I waited until my ping was over 125ms to PSN, then I fired up Netflix on PS4 the main server poped up on the west coast near San Diego. My ping to Netflix server never went above 25ms, I've never gotten that good of ping to PSN's servers ever, all of this was tested during peak usage hours in the northwest U.S.
